    Why?

Why is everyone still wasting time on this time killer PMS winter thread? In case you have not looked out the window or stuck you nose out the door, its riding time. Why am I here? Cuz its slow at work and I still have 2 days of work to get my bike back together enough to ride.
  2. Ya! What they all said. You said that you have an 87 2nd gen? An 87 would still be a 1st gen, MKII, 2nd gens did not start till in the 90s.
  3. I don't know Dan. Ya finally break down and get an old man bike and you still can't handle it. Maybe you are old enough for a trike.......
  4. It sure is a good thing non of you guys come to the WI MD ........
  5. Hmmm.... This last one seems to have slid a little north. I will be heading up into the UP for the weekend to load up a truck load of to bring back SOUTH. Now what should I do with it.....
  6. Thats what I was counting on. But if you were going to lead with the 2nd gen........
  7. The master cylinders are taped for 10mm mirrors, one right hand one left hand thread.
  8. Cool, does that mean I do not have to pull a spark plug wire to stay behind you on the MD ride?
  9. Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow, :duck: :duck: :duck:
  10. And thats why you got a 2nd gen..... But it didn't help much
  11. But it was 21 guys working on the car vs 4 guys, and did not take on fuel in the F1, it should be faster.
  12. Since I do not have a milk allergy, send all of that chocolate to me for proper disposal and then get your refund from the manufacturer.
  13. I never would turn on a golf game so there for I have never fallen asleep during one.
  14. If you were closer you could come over and borrow my 4,000 lb shop crane and just pick the whole thing up to get the stand off the bottom. Maybe some local gear head has one you can borrow. That is my plan for next time the rear tire has to come off. Just pick up the whole bike with the shop crane. But since the rear wheel is already on the floor, there is no danger of tipping it over.
  15. Actually Bub I have been nice to you and not told everyone that you are my snow supplier ..... Here I have been taking all of the heat for you........ Then you go ahead and blame me...... well.... :snow2: :snow2: :snow2: :snow2: :snow2: :snow2: :snow2: :snow2: :rasberry: :rasberry:
  16. heheheheheeh:rasberry:
  17. I use the oven in the kitchen when no one is looking. bring a chunk of 2x4 with you so that you can take it out of the oven and smack it on the 2x4 immediately. The motor case has some good mass so it will hold heat for a couple minutes. Since the inner race and balls are already gone I don't know if there will be enough mass for the bearing to come out easy. You may have to still attack it with your punch while it is hot.
  18. No eclipse here in Wisconsin, it is snowing.....:snow2: Besides, I need my beauty sleep, LOTS of it......
  19. That procedure does help. I was able to get it all done without aking the radiator all the way out, but I did have to take out all of its mounting bolts so it could move around a little. The thermostat housing did have to come out. I would not reuse any of the o rings. they are all old and hard and new ones are cheap. If your starter is dragging or slipping it is more likely the starter clutch that is accessed from the left engine cover. What exactly is your starter doing?
  20. Hey Cowpuc. Just cuz you been soooo nice to me I sent you a present over the lake, Did you get it yet????:snow2:
  21. 160 feet is about 156 more feet than I got in this weekend. My bike is stuffed into an 8 x 10 steel shed along with all of the yard tools and STUFF. So to work on it I get to push it back about 2 feet to have room to get it up on the center stand and have room to work on the front end of it. Then at the end of the day I get to climb on, fire it up and ride it the 2 feet back into the corner of the shed so I can get the door closed. So I got in 2 rides of 2 feet each this weekend.
  22. Would it be safer to just keep a jack with the trailer to always make sure of the correct angle on the ramp? Since the plate is now lower than the plug was, what will happen when the skid plate catches on the edge of the trailer. can it tear the mounting bolts out of the engine? Since the plate is lower are you even more likely to hit getting onto the trailer? OR Since this is for a trike, Add a board to the deck of the trailer to hold the front tire higher up until the engine is past the trailer edge. If I had the height of the trailer bed, length of the ramp, ground clearance of the trike, wheel base of the trike, and distance from front wheel of trike to the low spot, I could calculate the best size and shape of board to give adequate clearance for loading/unloading. Just puking up ideas here.
  23. Put the motor case into the oven at 250°F (300°F Max) for 20 minutes or so. The aluminum will expand a bit more than the steel race, and if there is any bearing retainer on the bearing the heat will loosen it. This is the only way to get the rear bearing out of small engines made for model aircraft. Once it is warmed up in the oven, all it usually takes is a sharp smack on a block of soft wood to knock the bearing out. It is not till around 400°F that you have to worry about changing the aluminum characteristics.
  24. Does it have to be a real clown or can it be a stature? I am about 2 working days away from getting my bike back together.
  25. The problem with the intersection cameras is that some cities shorten the yellow light to turn it into a cash machine. Those cameras give you the choice of nearly locking up the brakes and getting rear ended or getting a ticket at every intersection. You also will get a lot of tickets in the winter if you are driving at below posted speeds due to road or traffic conditions.
