  1. For testing you can just leave the old TCI where it is. Just unplug the two connectors and the cable is long enough that you can have the new one taped on top of the air cleaner for testing. If you do end up replacing it, same story leave the old one where it is and just install the new one either on top of the air cleaner or in the left fairing. The stock location is a real PITA to get it out.
  2. Why yes I do have a license, I also have a certificate which proves that I am certifiable. But the off button on the weather machine seems to be broken. At least it ain't ,,,,,,,, yet. There are a lot of good southern fried things, bring them on up...... Besides, I am sure that ol Puc has a laundry list of bad things he is gonna unleash on me some day when we meet..... All kidding aside. Puc, I sure hope that you are drying out at least a little. At least enough to make it down to B2MOMs and not have to worry. I only wish I could head down there to.
  3. Those were roads???
  4. Sorry to see that. And there is rain in the horrorcast every day this week. You know you get our leftovers......
  5. So pick a car and tell them that is what they are for.... Or at least find out what the rear end came out of to tell them that is the rear end they are going on. While I do shop on Tire Rack often for price and ideas, I have never bought from them, they never had the best price.
  6. Thats only averaging 164 miles a day.......
  7. Without Kats supervision? How did you manage that????
  8. Did you mean 86-93? You would not want to put in nasty 2nd gen parts.....:stickpoke:
  9. Do you have the broken of prong? You could have it welded back on.
  10. If the bulb socket is melting, that is either a higher wattage than stock bulb or a bad connection. I am not sure if it is possible to find a center position where both the high and lo beams are on at the same time, but that would also melt things. It is also possible for the bulb to burn out and the broken element causing a short inside of the bulb, this will also melt and blow things. It really helps if you put what kind of bike you have by your name. This makes it easy for us to help you out, often different bikes will get different answers to the same question. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58880
  11. Anything can be repaired, but there gets to be a point where replacement is faster, easier AND cheaper than a repair. this may be near that point.
  12. What do you mean Big Tom. :Avatars_Gee_George:
  13. Unless you are headed down wind during a cat 5 hurricane........ Looks like it might be fun, but it has a ford engine. Must be why its even slower than a 2nd gen.....
  14. Stators do die a lot more often than regulators.
  15. :sign yeah that: What is this cleaning and waxing you speak of?
  16. And its even the bestest and fastest color!
  17. OK, Tomorrow is here........ Sounds lie a good find. I'm guessing it needs new tires real bad.
  18. Your best bet is to take a part from your bike into the local paint store that supplies auto body shops and just have them match it. That way any fading that has occurred will be matched with the new paint.
  19. OK, you have to pick a spot to start. At the horn switch there should be a black wire and a pink wire. Using an ohm meter set to the lowest scale, check from the black wire at the switch to the battery negative it should show a dead short, as in very near to 0 ohms. This should not matter if the key is on or off. With the key on and the switch not pressed, there should be 12V on the pink wire. When you press the switch the voltage should drop to zero. Let us know what this is and then we will know what direction to head from there.
  20. That is a nice looking bike. I wonder if it is someone on this site selling it.
  21. Lets see, for what I make on these I still need to sell 3 or 4 to every venture owner on the planet, to even start sniffing that first mil.
  22. They need to see me about getting the tool that allows you to adjust without removing the cams........
  23. I think it could look real cool once it is all cleaned up and polished. Its hard to know. Maybe the intent was to have all cables hidden under a cover that will cover the entire unpainted handle bar. Would be a very clean look. On another note, I'll bet that brass grip really sucks the heat out of your hand on a cold day.
  24. Glad to hear that Mark is not in to bad of shape. It is about that time of year again. The deer are starting to get ready to give birth to this years crop of fawns. part of that process is driving off last years young to spread the gene pool. these young are wandering around in new areas that they are not familiar with, many have never learned about roads and the associated dangers. KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED FOR THEM!!!!
