  1. You are correct, that is exactly how it now works. I did like the old way much better. You will also find out that it no longer marks all posts read once you leave the site, so when you come back it will still show all unread post going back to the date of the forum chaneover unless you go to the "Forum Actions" tab and select "mark Forums Read" just before you log out.
  2. It only disappears if there are no "New Posts" after you have read it. If someone posted it will show the New Post.
  3. I normally ride until the first road salting happens. Temperature is all just an imaginary number, think in terms of Kelvin and it will always seem warm out. This year health issues have my poor bike parked for a month already.
  4. How about something really different that you may have never done. Head north, up here to play in the SNOW. You can go for some snow skiing, tobogganing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, etc. Then sitting around a nice cozy fireplace having family time together.
  5. Got a surprise heading down to you southern folk come middle of next week...... Just a little practice shot, not using the real ammo yet. And its still all Pucs fault. He started it........
  6. Best thing is to hook up a digital volt meter so you can monitor charging while riding. With some luck you will be able to find a pattern to help find the real problem. I always hate to just step back and throw money at the problem till it goes away. The High output stators should be paired with a high output RR. All of the HO stators will have a much shorter lifespan than the OEM stator. I bought a HO stator and RR for my bike but was able to get the same extra power to be available by getting rid of every single incandescent bulb on the bike even the dash lights and indicator lights on the dash. My lights are now ALL either LED or HID. Saved a lot of power.
  7. Babble away, I like my cruise too. Beats the heck out of the old throttle lock.
  8. Scott, I'm glad to see you are starting to feel up to things again. I know it is a long road, but I am sure you will get there, please yell if you need an ear for a while or anything else.
  9. In case you did not know, you need to send that PM to Skydoc_17.
  10. Blue here to. Red is to much to look at comfortably for any length of time. I am an old nocturnal critter. Green is to dark, on my laptop it is hard to read. Gray is just to, well gray, It is the season of grey skies, I just plain don't care for it. Blue is just right for me. AND I have a hard time dealing with change.........
  11. "New Posts" Not so new. On the old site once you leave the site, the next time you come back and click "New Posts" you just got all new posts since your last visit. Now when I click "New Posts" I get all unread posts back to the last time that I went to "Forum Actions" > "Mark Forums Read". The old "New Posts" would do the mark all forums read for you with out having to go to a pull down and do it manually. Is there any chance of getting the old functionality back?? I know it is only another 3 mouse clicks. But I have already worn a hole in the center of my touch pad on my laptop.
  12. Yup. Time to jumper the CMU and you will be set to go. If you think you might be going to HID headlight someday, jumper those while you are in there.
  13. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: It sounds like the tool missing from your arsenal is a chain saw..........
  14. Oh man. That don't sound good. But glad to hear that he is on the road to recovery. Adding Yooper to my list of prayers. I hope to be up in the UP of MI in a couple of weeks doing my best to thin the deer herd.
  15. Welcome aboard. But you do realize hat you are dangerously close to the Ol Cowpuc....... AND even more dangerous, you are only a lake width away from me.

    OOPS

I seem to good at the performance of OOPS lately.......
  17. He did not specify a year, so Oct 15 is only 11-1/2 months away.
  18. I just ignore the leaves. It will not be long before a good wind comes and then they are all gone.
  19. Well I'm feeling much better now. Done with the pain pills, just some discomfort left. Go back to the the surgeon on Friday to see when he will release me back to work and having fun. Today I went back to the cardiologist, He referred me to a more special specialist. We shall see.
  20. I tried to use advanced search to find one of my old threads. I was searching for "resistor" in a thread started by me. Advanced search finds nothing. Regular search did find it but it but it found all threads by anyone with "resistor" in them I finally found mine on page 4 of looking thru all of the posts. IS advanced search not working yet? or is there something where it only searches threads since the change? Or have I taken toooo many pain pills again.......
  21. I don't think the search function is working correctly yet. Here is the thread; www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?77042
  22. Does it do this at crising speed or just at a stop? It is fairly common to see this when stopped and the engine at idle. When idling, the Stator is at a very low output level and so when the turn signals illuminate the extra draw on the electrical system is causing a slight voltage drop in the charging system. That is why the rest of the lights go dim. This is nothing to worry about. Now if this is happening whil the engin is at cruising speed, then it may be the beginings of an electrical problem on the bike. This could be anything from a dirty / corroded connection to a stator or Regulator/Rectifier (RR) that is on the way out.
  23. But you know I will get blamed for it.....
  24. Were you in Chicago? That would be normal driving.........
