We need a little more description as what you mean by dead. Do you mean ite will not crank? Will crank but not start? Will start but dies? Will start and run but dies out on the road? Will run but has no power? All different directions to look. The better the description you can give us the better our answers.

We may have to have a cage section of the yard......

I used these on my bike, Matching the LED color to the lens color. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/s-series-bulbs/1157-led-bulb-dual-intensity-45-smd-led-tower-/814/ These are significantly brighter than the stock incandescent, are no bigger than the glass bulb, and a bit less spendy. I am very happy with mine. They also have this in a 1156 for the turn signals.

I always thought that ALL crashes occurred at the moment that you run out of airspeed altitude and ideas all at the same time.

[h=3]Bad Combinations [/h] Many of us "Old Folks" (those over 60, WAY over 60, or hovering near 60) are quite confused about how we should present ourselves. We're unsure about the kind of image we are projecting and whether or not we are correct as we try to conform to current fashions. Despite what you may have seen on the streets, or in Walmart, the following combinations DO NOT go together and should be avoided: 1. A nose ring and bifocals 2. Spiked hair and bald spots 3. A pierced tongue and dentures 4. Miniskirts and support hose 5. Ankle bracelets and corn pads 6. Speedo's and cellulite 7. A belly button ring and a gall bladder surgery scar 8. Unbuttoned disco shirts and a heart monitor 9. Midriff shirts and a midriff bulge 10. Bikinis and liver spots 11. Short shorts and varicose veins 12. Inline skates and a walker And last, but not least . . my personal favorite: 13. Thongs and Depends. Please keep these basic guidelines foremost in your mind when you shop.

Is every year not a "Limited Edition"? They only made so many of each year........ Creative advertising?

I thought that it is not an oil pressure switch but an oil level switch. This is why under very hard acceleration the oil light can come on as the oil sloshes to the rear of the oil pan. I would hate for the headlight to go out under hard acceleration at night. There was a thread where there was a lot of discussion of possibilities and what would or would not work and why.

:sign yeah that: OR Did you pinch a wire while moving things around durring the handle bar change? Is there still enough slack in all of the wires to allow full lock to lock movement of the steering without pulling or pinching a wire?

You could use @cowpucs method and just not wear a shirt......... On second thought, please keep your shirt on..... If you go into any place that sells tablets or cell phones they have screen covers like what you are talking about. They are not expensive, just get one bigger and cut it to size. Or get one smaller and put it on half of the screen to see what difference it makes. ANY film that you put over the display will reduce brightness, but if it is an anti glare film the reduction in reflections may make up for the reduced brightness with an improved visibility.

89 venture problems
Flyinfool replied to mvb1130's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
1. White smoke when cold is normal. 2. Well known issue, upgrading to a 4 brush starter and 4 AWG starter cables fixes the slow crank. 3. Hard to turn over when hot is normal, #2 fixes this. 4. NOT good, take the connection apart and clean the contact areas on both the battery and the terminal. Check where the terminal is connected to the wire for corrosion. it should NOT get hot. 5. As mentioned above 90% of the time resoldering the connector fixes this. 6. Thats normal. Are you using the choke? Full choke will have it running around 3,000 when you first start it. 7. There are some threads on how to fix the trunk cracking and how to clean the chrome. Don't just slap in a new stator. First fix the bad battery connection in #4 . Then do the charging system check to determine if there even is a problem with what you have. -
You could try calling one of the HID suppliers to see what the correct method of determining if it is the bulb, ballast or both that are bad. I can see the possibility of a bad bulb taking out the ballast, or a bad ballast taking out the bulb.

Are you signed up for Freebird's Maintenance Day?
Flyinfool replied to Freebird's topic in Watering Hole
I'm in. I'll be there whether by cage or by bike. It is looking more and more like by cage, but I'm still coming. Hmmmmm......... Cage means more room for RUM Balls......... -
You can not just pull the plug on your extended family. You know we will still hunt you down and make you smile and laugh till your face and sides hurt. We wont give up that easy. Useful input does not have to be technical in nature. Just being you can be plenty useful.

Sluggish first gear
Flyinfool replied to DarkHorse9825's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If the bike is put away hot on a hot day some fuel can evaporate. It is common in cooler weather to have full carbs the next time you start. Oil changes are good, washing is bad.........Only need a wash once every couple of years.........Just when the farmers start complaining about not enough dirt in their fields. -

Sluggish first gear

If the carbs are full of fuel the pump will not click. -
I have not found any type of film that actually helps visibility in bright sunlight. It is just counter intuitive that placing something that will filter out some light can make it brighter, but sellers do it all the time. Some filter out certain colors so that it appears to have more contrast and forms an optical illusion of being brighter, but in reality is less light reaching your eyes. You need a display that is designed to be readable in bright sunlight. Many of the GPS made for motorcycles have this type of display, knowing that there will be no shade on a bike. Many made for cars assume that the roof will shade the display to make it readable.

Marine is good for that ride in a partly cloudy downpour or every other year when the bike gets washed and you might water the gage in the process. I think a volt meter is what you really want. Amp meters are much more difficult to hook up and do not distinguish between a high amp draw because the battery is charging or a 2 high load on the system.
