  1. I have the unopened empty box to prove it does happen. I just now take steps to protect myself. If you are buying or selling to someone with good feedback over several years you can expect a smooth transaction. Many sellers of bigger items put in a note that first time buyers must contact the seller before bidding, at which point it will be explained it is COD with green folding money only. Modern printers and scanners can make cashiers checks and USPS money orders that are very convincing. In Ricks case. I would contact the buyer and explain that Rick will refund the PP and accept cash at pickup with the buyer having the option of backing out of the deal if the trailer is not as described. I would also explain that for both parties safety the transaction will conducted in the parking lot of the local police dept. A scammer or a thief will not show up. There are a lot of crooks out there, fortunately they are still a small minority.
  2. In the vid of the yellow gold wing, there is a lot of flex in the main rail just as the bikes rear wheel leaves the ramp and goes onto the main rail. Once the bike is loaded the main rail is definitely flexed between the coupler and rear axle. Or in this pic http://stingertrailer.com/img/stinger_trailer_in_action.png
  3. I would be curious as to how our Yamies compare to other full dress touring bikes for rear wheel removal on the road. My latest trick was to use my 2 ton shop crane to just pick the whole bike up about 3 feet off the ground. Of course this only works at home.
  4. Both of course.......
  5. There is still a possibility of a scam here. But then every ebayer had to make a first purchase, Its just not normally a big ticket item. I am not sure if it is the same since ebay and PP split. But the delay was in place so that if an item was not as advertised the buyer could get a refund. It is used for sellers that do not have a lot of recent feedback. The way the scam works is someone buys your item, as soon as they have it home the file a PP dispute claiming "not as advertised" or in your case if you do not get good paperwork at transfer they claim to have never received it. It is normally the delivery conformation from UPS or what ever the shipper is as proof of delivery. at which point PP will pull the funds from your account and give it back to the buyer. all the buyer has to do is to ship you an empty box that will have delivery conformation and they now are the "legal" owner of a free trailer, and you got nothing. I got burned on this exact scam once, fortunately it was only $35 involved but it has very much heightened my scam filters. IF this buyer is also a new ebay account less than a month old, be very careful. If you want more of the gory details and possible safeguards feel free to call me. Number is in my profile. You may want to contact both ebay and PP with your concerns and see if they have any suggestions.
  6. They may even be locals that ride that road every day and it is no big deal to them.
  7. @cowpuc is the one that likes 2 trackin so much. I wanna see 2 cars meet......
  8. Still a youngster.
  9. @Condor The first and last pics in the first post are of the oil in the drain pan. From what I can see the oil looks ok.
  10. The amount that the ramp and main rail flexed under the weight of the bike did concern me.
  11. Tomorrow can be put the bike back together day then go for a Sunday ride.
  12. Nice........ Have the 2 of you been out riding? What has been the reactions of others?
  13. First thing is when you start it cold. check to see if all the headers are heating up at the same rate. A cold one or two will tell you which cylinders are not running. Once you have that narrowed down then we can start figuring out why they aren't running.
  14. I heard that last year tooooo:snow2:
  15. After she drove that nice Avalanche home with that big engine, is there anything left of the rear tires?
  16. Looks like a great ride, I seem to be having a lot of difficulty keeping gas in my tank right now. Counter measures huh, OH I so love a challenge........
  17. Does the cruise control still work? The cruise uses the same sensor as the self canceling.
  18. My first WAG would be head gasket. The clutch going out has nothing to do with coolant. The only place I know of (I sure dont know everything) that can pressurize the cooling system is head gasket. A leak down test will spot this real quick. Just in case it is a head gasket, do not attempt to start or even crank the engine until you are certain that you do not have water in a cylinder, hydro lock is never pretty. pull all the spark plugs before you try to turn the engine.
  19. But I'll bet the smart car can charge its battery......
  20. So you just need to add some leaf patterns to get a nice camo finish.......
  21. Even though it has been sitting in a warehouse collecting dust for all these years, there are parts of a car that will hold up better being used regularly. Expect issues with seals, tires, old fluids, etc. but then if the price is rite, by all means go for it. You can always repaint the ugly color.
  22. When you lay a 1st gen down it does not stop at the bars, it will go all the way down so the corner of the plastic faring by the mirror is on the ground. But that position would make tire removal not to bad. You would have to break the axle nut loose then lay it on the left side.
  23. Hmmmmm...... Now I seem to have a fuel problem. It seems I need to fill the tank every day on my way to work and some times again on the way home from work. Don't have a clue what the problem might be. In the last 2 weeks I have gotten all but one digit in the odometer to move. Hmmm...... Its a 42 mile round trip to work, somehow 2 weeks of that with a 4 days off to take the truck off roading and a couple of rain days, has put 1200 miles on the bike. What might the problem be?
  24. Nooooooo.......... Its to soon. I just got my bike out of winter storage, from LAST winter. I will park it when the first load of salt hits the roads. Which in Wisconsin could be any day now......
  25. I have seen people lace the spare key into their riding boots, odds are you will not go to far with out them, and the spare is probably even more secure than if it was in your pocket.
