    sun

Spring has sprung, was up into the 60s and sunny all weekend, so to celebrate we are having a blizzard today with temps dropping back down to around zero°F..................
  2. There have been some people that replaced the stator bolts with ones that are a bit to long so that they bottom out in the hole and are not actually tightening down the stator. I am not sure just how long the heads would have to be to hit the inside of the flywheel.
  3. Sounds like you are gonna have some fun. Since you say the carb slides are not all moving the same I would get the carbs working before even thinking about replacing the TCI. I have never been one to throw money at the problem till it goes away. I will work to only fix what needs fixing. At this point you know that the carbs need work, I would start there. It could just fix all of the other problems. As mentioned these bikes run terrible when the air filter cover is off, or the air filter element is missing, or even if someone drilled holes in the air filter box to get more air in.
  4. OK here are my guesses. 1. You went to type a capital "A" and instead of hitting the shift key you fat fingered it and hit the Control ("Ctrl") key and the "A" key. When you do this you are telling the computer to "select all". This is why everything highlighted in blue. 2. Once everything was selected and highlighted in blue your very next keystroke will replace everything with whatever that keystroke was If it is a character than everything will be gone except for that single character, if it was a space then you will have what appears to be a blank screen. IF you catch this quick enough you can use the Control + Z to Undo what you just did. You can also access Undo by going to the menu at the very top of the page, under edit there is an Undo command with a reminder of the Ctrl+Z shortcut. The auto save is not really made for dumb thumbs, it is more made for a computer glitch. If you type a bunch of stuff, once it does an auto save IF you should exit the window without posting and then come back to the window in the bottom left corner of the edit window there will be a button to "Restore Auto Saved Content". This will get you back to the last auto saved point. IF I need to leave a window to check something but I am not ready to post, I also do a sort of save. I will hit Ctrl+A to highlight everything and then hit Ctrl+C to copy everything to the clipboard. That way if I leave the screen and come back and everything is gone, I just have to hit Ctrl+V to copy the contents of the clipboard to the current window. I hate doing things twice.
  5. Sure come on over to check it out. It should be really awesome once I get the 4K UHD with HDR Blu-Ray player. I know how the EX thing works, I had no TV for quite a while after the EX left. The 55 inch is the biggest that I can fit in the available space. I will have a whole 1/2 inch left on each side of it. I could have gone to a 65 inch IF I would have used a ceiling mount and had it mounted up at the ceiling and had a corner sticking out into the hallway, But I decided I did not like that option. The only other option was to MOVE a 2,500 lb aquarium (yes it is that big) over however far to make room for whatever bigger size I wanted. But that sounded way to much like work. Once this is all set up and working the bedroom will also be getting a new TV, but the biggest that will fit there is a 32 inch. The limitation in the bedroom is the 18 inch vertical space. The very best of the 32 inch TVs are at 1080P, I have never seen or heard of a 4k 32 inch. The 32 inch TVs are relatively inexpensive. Is it Saturday yet...................
  6. I would also give a real close look to the ground connections. Ground is the only thing that all of that stuff has in common. Washing it may have taken a marginal ground and once it dried added that little extra corrosion to make it a bad connection. electrical gremlins that hit multiple circuits at the same time are usually ground related.
  7. I get 6 or 7 years out of a good old Yuasa. The AGMs to seem to crank the bike a bit faster, But my old school Yuasa still gets it started. I tried an AGM battery and while it did crank a bit faster, it died after just 14 months. I do not remove my battery in the winter, it sits in the bike out in the cold. I was told that is what killed my AGM, good old flooded battery don't seem to care about the cold or being parked for 4 to 6 months of the year. Last year my bike sat for 11 months due to health issues, 2 year old Yuasa cranked it right up no fuss no muss.
  8. Things are still progressing at a blistering pace. The PT gal is having a hard time coming up with ways to challenge me. This week she had me on a weight machine doing leg presses. My reworked ankle was able to push 270 lbs with very little pain. my "good" leg can push 350 (machine max) I then was doing sets of 20 reps at 350 using both legs. Still a long way to go but this is definitely good progress for only 2 weeks out of the cast that was on for 2 months. I am able to stand on the edge of a platform with just the balls of my feet on the platform, AND not fall down. The ankle is able to hold my full weight on just the ball of my foot. I did go out and look at the bike, The ankle is still not ready to try to pop it up on the center stand. I think that bike still weighs more than I do.............. Now that I am getting more active again, I have dropped 10 of the 20 lbs that I packed on with 3 months of being a couch potato.
  9. Well I went and pulled the trigger. I have a Samsung un55js8500fxza on the way. It should be delivered March 5, and they will haul away my old TV. Next item will be a Blu-ray player. Looking at the Samsung that can play native 4K discs with no upscaling. BUT it is not set to be released until next month, AND it ain't cheap.
  10. Good to hear about Puc. I have been watching for an update. Puc, I'll see if I can whip up a special batch of whitewash just for you. I'll use some of the special fast healing water ad some Rum Ball fumes that I used after my surgery. Just don't eat the yellow .
  11. My old software may be worth nothing in dollar value today, But some of it is from a company that no longer exists and it will not run on any OS newer than XP. My CAD software is also old enough that it will not run on anything newer, same for my circuit board design software. Yes the newer versions of these pieces of software have a few bells and whistles that I do not have now. But I have yet to find one thing that I could not do with what I have that the newer software could do. Makes it real hard to justify spending $20K just to be able to say I have the latest and greatest and gain zero functionality. This is not my employers money this is out of my pocket for my own stuff. I am not one to change for the sake of change, If there is an actual improvement then I am all in. No one has yet pointed out a single IMPROVEMENT in the upgrades. I have been toying with getting a new up to date computer for everyday stuff and playing around and save my old computer for getting things done.
  12. I wonder what percent of the upgrades were done for no reason other than to get rid of the upgrade nag. I was able to kill the nag without upgrading. At least win 7 has an XP mode, Win 10 does not, that makes win 10 a non starter for me. I do not want to replace 20K worth of software just to be able to have win 10.

    The irony

OR The biker saw the truck coming and pulled up into the back of your car to help absorb some of the impact. That is one of my last ditch escape plans if there is no where else to escape a cage that is not stopping. If you pull up touching the car in front of you, then when you are hit from behind the structure of the bike will take most of the impact and you will take much less impact. This strategy will minimize damage to me but will also maximize damage to the bike. Bikes heal a lot faster than me, they take noting more than the wave a of an adequately thick wallet to be healed.
  14. You could always sneak up here, not that far from Northern Indiana. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?114880-It-is-getting-to-be-time-for-another-mid-winter-get-together
  15. Here in WI you do not need to show proof of ins to get plates or register but by law you are required to have ins. In NY if I change ins companies in the middle of the year and then do not renew, does the ins notify the state to come and take your plate away? If not it would be real easy to not have ins.
  16. Right now my top pick is the Sony XBR-55X850D (IF someone local gets one in stock real soon), and of course I will need a 4K blue ray player to go with it to be able to play one of the dozen or so titles that are available........ Half the DVDs that I rent have newer codecs than what my 30 year old DVD player understands. Joe; After all of my effort to set you up and you are going to delete it???? Shame on you.
  17. I have been told by a few people that insurance will not cover if the keys were in it when it was stolen, because you did not take reasonable precautions to protect it. Remote starts are legal here because the keys are not in it and there are anti theft features built into every remote start system.
  18. That same storm is supposed to give us up to an inch of snow. QUICK run out and buy up all the bread and milk......................
  19. My internet download speed is 1.78M. My router is located behind the TV anyhow so running a cat5 to the TV is just a 6' cable. I have no idea how fast my WiFi is, it is more than 10 years old but works fine with my 15 year old laptop. I will have to do some research into the addons to make a TV less dumb, (I don't believe in smart TV) I HATE when I have to replace expensive things that work fine but have been made obsolete. I am replacing my 30 year old TV because it has stopped working, not because it is obsolete. Ya I know, I am and all my toys are also .
  20. I have narrowed it down to that it will be a 55 inch. I do have WiFi in the house, but I have a pretty slow internet connection, So will a smart TV still work with streaming video? My computer does video very poorly.
  21. I know NOTHINGK......
  22. I think he posted right above you......................
  23. There are a bunch of people that think the bike is overheating if the needle gets near the red, so they either hot wire the fan or put it on a manual switch. Both are bad options. It is normal for the temp gauge to run right at the bottom of the red, at that point the fan should come on and keep it from getting hotter. I would figure out why yours is running all the time and put it back to stock. Stock works just fine.
  24. I have 3 options for gettin to one o dez shindogs. 1. 6 hour ride each way going right thru the middle of Chicago. :scared:This would have to be at least a 2 day trip in good weather. 2. Take the S.S. Badger ferry out of Manitowoc WI to Ludington MI and 3 hours of ride time each way. $$ 3. Take the Lake Express High Speed Ferry out of Milwaukee WI to Muskegon MI and about 20 minutes of ride time each way. $$$$$ Yup it would have to be a good weather weekender.
