  1. You could always sneak up here, not that far from Northern Indiana. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?114880-It-is-getting-to-be-time-for-another-mid-winter-get-together
  2. Here in WI you do not need to show proof of ins to get plates or register but by law you are required to have ins. In NY if I change ins companies in the middle of the year and then do not renew, does the ins notify the state to come and take your plate away? If not it would be real easy to not have ins.
  3. Right now my top pick is the Sony XBR-55X850D (IF someone local gets one in stock real soon), and of course I will need a 4K blue ray player to go with it to be able to play one of the dozen or so titles that are available........ Half the DVDs that I rent have newer codecs than what my 30 year old DVD player understands. Joe; After all of my effort to set you up and you are going to delete it???? Shame on you.
  4. I have been told by a few people that insurance will not cover if the keys were in it when it was stolen, because you did not take reasonable precautions to protect it. Remote starts are legal here because the keys are not in it and there are anti theft features built into every remote start system.
  5. That same storm is supposed to give us up to an inch of snow. QUICK run out and buy up all the bread and milk......................
  6. My internet download speed is 1.78M. My router is located behind the TV anyhow so running a cat5 to the TV is just a 6' cable. I have no idea how fast my WiFi is, it is more than 10 years old but works fine with my 15 year old laptop. I will have to do some research into the addons to make a TV less dumb, (I don't believe in smart TV) I HATE when I have to replace expensive things that work fine but have been made obsolete. I am replacing my 30 year old TV because it has stopped working, not because it is obsolete. Ya I know, I am and all my toys are also .
  7. I have narrowed it down to that it will be a 55 inch. I do have WiFi in the house, but I have a pretty slow internet connection, So will a smart TV still work with streaming video? My computer does video very poorly.
  8. I know NOTHINGK......
  9. I think he posted right above you......................
  10. There are a bunch of people that think the bike is overheating if the needle gets near the red, so they either hot wire the fan or put it on a manual switch. Both are bad options. It is normal for the temp gauge to run right at the bottom of the red, at that point the fan should come on and keep it from getting hotter. I would figure out why yours is running all the time and put it back to stock. Stock works just fine.
  11. I have 3 options for gettin to one o dez shindogs. 1. 6 hour ride each way going right thru the middle of Chicago. :scared:This would have to be at least a 2 day trip in good weather. 2. Take the S.S. Badger ferry out of Manitowoc WI to Ludington MI and 3 hours of ride time each way. $$ 3. Take the Lake Express High Speed Ferry out of Milwaukee WI to Muskegon MI and about 20 minutes of ride time each way. $$$$$ Yup it would have to be a good weather weekender.
  12. Well that time has come. My 30 year old entertainment system is showing its age. I currently have a 52" Sony rear projection TV, Yamaha receiver, Toshiba DVD, and Panasonic VCR. Everything is 30+ years old. I have been running into a lot of DVDs that will not play on my old player so that needs to be upgraded, The Receiver does not handle switching HDMI so I might be looking for new there, and of course replacing the TV. I have not followed TV technology at all for the last 30 years, I guess there have been a few changes since last I looked. I am now overwhelmed by the onslaught of acronyms for all of the various technologies. I will be looking at 55-60 inch class TVs, Might go to 65 IF I can find the right combination of TV and stand to fit it. I am looking for suggestions on what features really matter and are worth adding to my feature list. The only feature that I know I want is 4K. Most of the rest I don't even know what they are. HELP, my poor little brain is spinning.........................
  13. I think I saw some of your stuff come thru. 64 MPH winds here. I did spot some new yard decorations out back .
  14. OK Now MY knees hurt just from watching that...........
  15. If I were to try to roll the bike out of the shed right now it would sink into the mud up to the handlebars.
  16. Nice job, So is this your new ride for this year?
  17. I guess I saw it coming........ http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?86710-Woman-Stops-Grizzly-Attack-With-25-Caliber-Pistol&highlight=beretta
  18. Puc and Tweeks only have one set of horns, this one has 3 sets of horns, and they are all bigger than Tweeks. Puc will be drooling.
  19. Sounds like fun for you, not so much for him. At least you 2 are both young so healing should be quick and full. You both still are in my thoughts and prayers.
  20. That battery cover looks pretty easy to make. It appears to be Vac formed. You can do a shallow draw vac form like that using your oven and a good shop vac. as long as the dimensions will fit in your oven, this might be close if you do not have a big oven. Might have to send the wife out for this one. A sheet or 3 of ABS plastic is not hard to source. Pull, trim and then paint to match. Between your bike and those pics you get pretty close on all the dimensions to make the mold for that cover. The mold can be made out of a bunch of scrap framing lumber. Here at work we make production vac molds out of aluminum, temp production molds out of Mahogany, and one off prototype molds out of a stack of glued up wood from old pallets or any other scrap wood that can be scrounged. Cheap framing pine will get you about 10 good parts before the wood starts to deteriorate.
  21. Hmmmmm How did ol @cowpuc know were just discussing possum last night in chat..............? But Bob Being on the road does NOT excuse you from popping into each night so that we can pry trip details and maybe even some preview pics out of ya.
  22. Sounds like progress to me. Even if you don't know exactly what you fixed. Back when I had my electrical gremlin that would shut off the engine while cruising down the highway, I ended up finding 3 things that each could have been my whole problem, but because I fixed all 3 at once, I'll never know which one was the real problem. I really do not care which it was as long as it stays fixed.
  23. We have all been having a good time in chat. There does seem to be some a fair number of people that pop in, never say anything and then disappear. I do not know if it is connection issues with using a cell pone or tablet, or just shy. If you do pop in there, don't be afraid to say something, even if it is just HI.
  24. Good luck and have fun. Looks like it will be way to hot down there to have any real fun..........
  25. That depends on the specific meter you have. Some of the meters you can replace a resistor on the circuit board to adjust the brightness to what you want others you can not. It also matters if it hooks up with 2 wires or more. some meters that use more than 2 wires have the extra wire to dim the display when you turn on the lights. this could be connected to a switch to have bright or dim for day night use. Or you can do as mentioned and put some pieces of tinted plastic to dim it down to what you want.
