  1. I had a thought today riding in to work. 2nd Gens are now starting to be OLD enough to put collector license plates on them. To get a Collector plate in WI a vehicle must be at least 20 model years old. The first version of the 2nd gen came out in 1996 (according to the history page). So that makes it official, 2nd gens are now all considered OLD . At least by me. And I'll bet it would not take to much looking to find a new old bike still in a crate buried in the back at some dealership some where. But even a really 1st gen can still on a 2nd gen. AND In just 6 more years the 1st gens in WI can start to wear Antique plates. In WI Antique plates are for vehicles that are 40+ model years old.
  2. I found FROST on my windshield. It is obvious someone has been exercising the door hinges up there.
  3. Naaa Works the same, just bigger consequences
  4. Dan Electricity is really clever at finding a path to keep flowing. Does that make more sense?
  5. :sign yeah that: That would be my first guess The only other remote possibility that I can think of, and I never heard of it happening is that there would be an issue with a broken wire in the stator that is causing sparks as it makes and brakes contact. Sparks inside of the crankcase could ignite oil and/or gas fumes that will be present in the crankcase. The stator and pick up coils are the only wires inside of the engine that I am aware of. I do not think there is enough current available in the pick up coils to create a significant spark. But like I said, this is purely a WAG that I have never heard of happening. Check to be sure that you are running on all 4 cylinders. Start the bike from cold and check too see that all 4 pipes heat up at the same rate. Then check the voltage across the battery with the engine running, it should be near 14V with the engine at or over 3,000 rpm
  6. Inner Peace during the current political campaign..... I'm passing this on because it worked for me today. A doctor on TV said that in order to have inner peace in our lives during this political campaign, we should always finish things that we start. Since we all could use more calm in our lives, I looked around my house to find things I'd started & hadn't finished. I finished a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of Chardonnay, a bodle of Bayleys, a butle of wum, tha mainder of Waliuminun scriptins, an a bxo a choclutz. Yuz haz kno idr how fablus I feeeel rite now.
  7. With the new long range nozzles, (so I can spread the enjoyment) and the new to me 1.21 gigawatt flux capacitor (Stole it out of an old DeLorean I found in the bone yard) powering the Snowper Charger that feeds into the white washer, if I aim it to high it will hit London or even Paris and f the wind is right even Moscow. The velocity is so much higher now that I have to aim low.......................... And it just seems that your buddy @saddlebum opened up that back door and sent down a blast of that Canadian air that I need for mixing.
  8. What mufflers do you have on it now. The stock unmodified ones are pretty quiet. Most people that put on aftermarket pipes are looking to make it louder. Yes there are some that go aftermarket for looks. If you have aftermarket on there now I bet it would not be hard to find someone to swap you a set of stockers for your louder ones.
  9. My first guess would be fuel pump is getting weak. First half of tank fuel level is above floats so pump does not have to work as hard. End of tank pump has to lift fuel up to the carbs.
  10. Yea GIVE IT UP............. Well since you asked for so you can disassemble............................ It must be time to dust off the SNOWPER CHARGER .................. Puc you better duck, your kind of in the middle.
  11. Then you would love some of my aromas with 25% bean oil, 45% alky, and 30% nitro. Best perfume ever.
  12. Best wishes for your mom Bob. The weatherman just said that Mathew is going to hang a right and turn a 360 for round 2 next week. BUT The weatherman also said that this cold front we have here right now that is dropping the temps here into the 30s will head on down and blow up the hurricane by sucking all of the heat energy out of it. Round 2 should be just a bit of rain maybe.

    PITA

I have that job coming up soon here to. I have started to hear the tick of the leak. But I am gonna cheat. I am gonna fix it without removing the exhaust manifold at all. After doing a lot of reading on the issue, you go thru all of the work to replace the broken bolts and the new bold break too. it is a design isue that the stretching of the bolt with the heat cool cycles is stretching the bolt enough to cause metal fatigue and SNAP. There is a company that makes a clamp bracket that bolts to the front and back of the head using existing holes, and then uses a clamp screw to hold down the outer corners of the manifold. The brackets are a bit pricey so I will probably make my own from scrap steel I have already. the brackets are considered the permanent fix for the broken manifold bolt issue. Left hand drills very often spin the broken fastener out before the easy out ever comes out of the case. Especially if it was well lubed with with the magic 50/50 bullet and then use more of the 50/50 as your cutting oil.
  14. Says who?
  15. No real big deal if it is that involved. I was just hoping it was already there and you just had to check a box.
  16. I have several computers that I use between home and work. They are all running XP Pro, SP2, and FireFox. I have not seen these errors. I have been having many issues since the last Firefox update, but these issues are affecting all sites. going back to an earlier version of Firefox fixed the issues.
  17. Cool. At least it is all better now.
  18. You have a case of power getting to somewhere it is not supposed to be, since dielectric grease is an insulator, dielectric grease can not possibly be the issue for you. The whole issue of where and how to use dielectric grease transcends even oil or tires, approaching the volatility of politics and religion.
  19. Depending on exactly what it was the you hooked up backwards the effect could range from nothing happens to wires melting or anything in between. Yes back feeding something is a real possibility.
  20. I ran into a couple of businesses that have already closed so the employees could go home to prep for this one. It looks like it going to a nasty one, not just for Florida but for the whole eastern seaboard. Good luck and follow the recommendations for your local.

  22. There is a Chevy truck forum that I frequent. Today while making a long post, when I hit submit it popped up a warning to say that there have been other posts made to this thread since I started creating my reply and asked me to review what I wrote in light of these new responses. When it popped up the warning it also showed me the new posts that were added. I see it often on this site where two people are typing at the same time, it would be nice to know before the post goes up that your info is already there or may no longer apply.
