  1. You're only a little over an hour from me. in good traffic, if you want to borrow mine for a day ride.
  2. This looks good but the 'One size fits most" worries me. I find a lot of times that I'm too big for these kind of items.
  3. I already wear a XXXL full face.
  4. Poor thing. I feel for you.
  5. Just wondering if anyone has found a magic bullet for warm riding gear for the face. I have a good balaclava that does a good job but my forehead will start killing me within 30-60 minutes and I have to remove the thing. The fat head thing makes it get too tight in the helmet. I'd like to find something that I can wear around the neck and comes up to cover the chin area and even the nose if necessary. I rode today and the chin area was by far the coldest part on me.
  6. Got off at 3PM today and ran home to go for a ride. Hit 40 today with the sun shining. The DC is finally seeing a little bit of a warm up. I only went out for an hour but boy did it feel good. Lots of salt and sand on the roads, at least along the sides so taking it easy is required in the turns but at least I was riding. Oh yeah, did I mention I got to ride today.
  7. Very nice story.
  8. Your Score is 23 I thought I would do better as I've always done well at History.
  9. Yeah. A friend set me straight. Feel stupid.
  10. EDIT: Ok. Just found out this is a computer graphic thing with Snopes verifying. Oh well. Looked pretty damn neat. You have got to watch this. I am simply awe struck at what these people did. I'm no musician yet this has floored me. Turn your sound on for this. Read this first, then watch. This is almost unbelievable. See how all of the balls wind up in catcher cones. This incredible machine was built as a collaborative effort between the Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory and the Sharon Wick School of Engineering at the University of Iowa .. Amazingly, 97% of the machines components came from John Deere Industries and Irrigation Equipment of Bancroft , Iowa ...Yes, farm equipment! It took the team a combined 13,029 hours of set-up, alignment, calibration, and tuning before filming this video but as you can see it was WELL worth the effort. It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard Alumni Hall at the University and is already slated to be donated to the Smithsonian. 11. Thanks guys. Goose---my head is hurting after reading your post. J/K. Gives me a start. 10 minutes later. By George I believe I got it. Thanks again.
  12. I have a Vizio HDTV which I really like. We have Direct TV. Our TV is defaulting to 480. When I switch it to 720 or 1080 the picture becomes so wide to make it not usable. Does this make sense in what I'm explaining? Any ideas how to change to 720 or 1080 without screwing up the picture getting too wide?
  13. I could not survive without my backrest. I don't know how I did without one for as long as I did.
  14. I will ride down to about 40 degrees with the sun out and do fine. Below that and it gets tough. I am seriously considering the heated gear.
  15. Heated gear. I don't have the knowledge to hook something up like this and am considering paying someone to do it for me. Would love to extend my riding in the winter.
  16. It's good to be back. Thanks for those sending the PM's.
  17. Thanks. I've got the anti glare material on my GPS and I'm not sure it helps at all. This looks like it might work a little better.
  18. When are you doing this? And I hope you have some heated gear. Damn cold here now. I'm very close to Skyline Drive.
  19. My pleasure. I'm glad to see memorials such as this. It took quite a few years to make it a reality but it finally happened. There is an elder gentleman in the pics who was a handler approximately 50 years ago and his dog was shot and killed on a track. His dog is the oldest on record so far in VA where an on duty death happened.
  20. Hell, we've probably met before. Jim and I have trained together many times since we met in 86. As a matter of fact I was a student/asst trainer in his 98 class. I'll be at the retirement luncheon.
  21. Tombo, That indeed was Jim. He's retiring in a couple weeks from USPP. Is that who you worked with?
  22. Ben, The next local certification for patrol dogs will be sometime around Apr to June. I believe Alexandria is hosting this time. I'll be there judging and I'll try to remember to tell you when I get the dates.
  23. Thanks all. I consider myself blessed to have worked over 23 years with these animals. Even though I retired from the PD I'll stay involved on the K9 level teaching and judging certifications around the country. It's been quite a ride.
  24. Hopefully no one will mind me posting this here. This is not MC related but it is something very dear to me and I would imagine any dog lover. This was a memorial dedication at Va Tech where we dedicated the memorial to all the police dogs killed in the line of duty in Va. One of the dogs I trained in 1999 is on this memorial. 25. It's no secret that New Enough is an excellent company and offers customer service like few other companies. I know from personal experiences in the past. I own a pair of Firstgear riding pants and seem to have lost the liner. I did not buy them from New Enough but I have been unsuccessful contacting anyone at Firstgear. NE put me on hold and tried as well and couldn't get anyone to answer the phone either. I started calling Firstgear's 800 # a few weeks ago with no luck. I even tried e-mailing them. Needless to say I don't believe I'll be buying Firstgear anymore. The gentlemen said they didn't sell just the liners for the pants but he would try and track some down. He called me back an hour later and said he was able to get in touch with a FG dealer who was trying to track down the liners. He took all the info and passed it to the dealer and promised to call me back. Keeping in mind that NE is making nothing off this transaction I was impressed. I've bought a lot of gear from NE and will continue to do so. PS. the web site listed on the FG pants has not worked either for the last month. www.firstgear-usa.com (EDIT) I just tried the link from this post and the site opened. I tried again from my browser and it's still not working. Not sure what's happening here. (EDIT-EDIT) I found a direct number at the web site and left a message. We'll see what happens with FG now.
