The cost alone may keep me from doing this but I am considering it. I stopped by a local Yamaha dealership the other day looking for advice regarding changing out my Audio system. I use the AM/FM when in my home area and I use my Garmin/XM when out of the range of the local stations. I plug the XM into the Cassette player to use the speakers. As anyone knows who does something similar the sound is not as loud when using this method and according to the people at Yamaha there is not much that can be done about the decreased sound. Something about running one system (XM) thru the Cassette which will always play at a reduced sound. I'm trying to improve the system by looking for a FM I can listeN to at all times BY hitting a scan button. This seems to be a frutless search so far as there appears to be no system to replace the Yamaha stock system. The dealer even sent me to a local place that installs systems in cars and motorcycles and have been doing so for over 25 years. This place pretty much said I need to consider letting them take out the cassette and replacing it with a one piece system that does it all. GPS, Am/FM/CD and who knows what else. They would have to do some cutting to make it fit and a 7 in screen pops out when in use. When you turn it off it disappears back into itself. This system does not pop out for safekeeping. My question is: Will I be sorry installing something like this? Does anyone here have anything similar or have any suggestions? As a nearly 30 year police officer I'm aware of the danger of having something like this on my bike when I'm traveling and can't watch the bike all night when parked. I'm going on a 30- day ride this August and would like some decent sounds.

Hey guys. Do you think if the neighbors are making comments in jest then maybe they are being serious but don't want to start a rift? Loud pipes are obnoxious. I was sitting in a parking lot today trying to talk to the wife when a rider started his Harley. He was parked at least 100 feet away and I had to wait until he was well out of the area before I could resume the conversation with the wife. I like a nice throaty sound as well as anyone but too loud is too loud. When neighbors can hear it that far away you might not be the good neighbor you want to be. Just my .02 cents.- 30 replies

I'd keep typing venturerider.org in my computer until something popped up.

No offense but coming on here to air this complaint against a member was uncalled for.

Come on Jerry. The man was respectful in what he said and he deserves the respect back. He respectfully made his opinion known and put no one down. No need for comments like this.

I'm not upset with what you've said and I can even understand what you're suggesting. Personally I don't have a problem with Don's new policy since the cost is minimal. One thing I've wondered is why more advertisement is not brought to this site? I realize it could slow down things a little but the added monies coming in can only help improve the site. Just a thought.

Had me confused here until I saw the 2nd post. Guess you mean "sightings". I was out Friday riding 2 up with the wife but saw no Ventures. Saw some Harleys and sport bkes but none of us.

That is indeed a beautiful place to ride with some great roads. Probably some of the better roads in the US. -
We (midnight shift) would all come in early back in 1980 and watch Benny Hill before roll call. Always good for a good laugh.

The National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Fund is holding a raffle for a new Harley if interested. I'd never buy a Harley but this is a sweet bike. http://nleomf.org/Harley09/

Not sure if there really is 7000 members or not but there really is not that many who really post. I had a response removed the other day in regards to someone getting a ticket and then the complaints against LE started. I asked if my response was removed and never heard back. Would have liked to know why mine was viewed as inappropriate and others weren't. Life goes on and I know no matter what this is one of the better if not the best MC related forums on the net.

Find any officer involved in drug interdiction work and ask them for some stories. You might be surprised to who carries drugs or money and what they will carry them in. A Wing, or any bike with good size bags, can easily carry several Kilo's of Cocaine with no problem. I've seen teens and up to a 70 something grandmother arrested for transporting drugs.

Mods, Please move if necessary but it relates to a long trip I'm planning. I've talked with member Rick Butler regarding a seat modification he does but am not completely convinced it is for me. I am preparing to take a 30 day ride starting around Aug 1. I've already posted some info on this here already. My 04 RSV has the stock seat which is not the most comfortable seat around obviously. I am a big man- 6'5 and 275 so there's a lot of weight on the seat which of course hurts the ole butt cheeks after a couple hours. I know Rick's modifications relieves pressure around the tailbone but I really believe most of my pain is around the cheek areas. I'm trying to figure out what others have done here where the mods they made were worthwhile. I've heard nothing but good things with Rick's seat mods but I've also heard some good things regarding newer seats. Any thoughts or actual stories would be most appreciated.

Have their been some posts removed from this topic or is there another similar topic?

Thanks Don. The moment this becomes a cop bashing board is the moment I leave. I can get that on some other boards I belong to. I like this site because (so far) it has minimal cop bashing taking place.

I have the Garmin 2730 but now that you mention it I believe it has a MP3 built into it as well. I can't imaging the storage is very big though. As far as the volume the 2730 doesn't have that option.

But of course. Thanks:clap2:

I've brought part of this problem up before but I have a follow up now. My AM/FM has plenty of sound thru the external speakers. At highway speed (60-65) I only need to turn the sound to 17 or 18 to hear it fine. When I switch to XM which is on my GPS (Garmin) the sound is nowhere as loud. I can turn it up to the max at 30 and at highway speed I can barely hear it. Same way when it's run thru the helmet speakers before I got a new helmet. My question now. If I get an MP3 player for my upcoming 30 day ride will the MP 3 be like the GPS/XM since it also plays thru the cassette player or will it be as loud as the FM? I may not get the MP 3 and waste my money if I can barely hear it.
