^^^This^^^ I'm going to try the stock shield which should be about level with the top of my head and see how it feels for the wife. I kind of find it aggravating having the edge of the shield at eye level. Needs to be above or below,

Stan over at Cyco Cycle knows his ****. He's a bit of a grump but always gets it done at a reasonable rate. I do all my own service but have bought a bunch of parts from him in the past and also get him to mount tires on wheels I bring in loose. 904-642-0722. They're at Arlington Rd. and Cesery.

Dude, that's awesome!!! I'll definitely give you a shout. I was beginning to think I was the only guy in the area with one of these bikes.

I'm in the middle of shopping for a new shield now and it's serendipitous that this thread pooped up again. The one thing I'm not thrilled about with the F4, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that they still don't have the bottom of the shield blacked out to hide the gap between the fairing and the "dashboard". My current shield is scratched up along that line and it's gross. I also don't like seeing into the fairing. Might be a deal breaker F4.....

I have the lowers on my forks and the shield I have is at about eye height. I just want the queen to be happy. Seems that my shield has been replaced at some point as it's definitely lower than stock. If that is indeed the case, and one should have the top of the shield at or below eye level, does Yamaha assume every rider is 6'2"?

No I'm not smoking dope. My question involves windshield height. I have a 13" shield on my 06 RSV and my wife is complaining about buffeting. I've seen them available as tall as 17" and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the taller windshields and how much protection a few more inches offers the passenger. How does it affect handling? Best shield for clarity?

Loved my KLR and XT. Loved my Bonneville. Loved a plethora of bikes and I think I'll have to end up owning 10. At the same time for once. I'm getting comfortable on the beast but I do love throwing a bike around and I simply can't do that on the RSV. I may have to get another one of these for around town. Or this...

Both Gulfport MS and Maggie Valley are about the same distance (7-8 hrs ride) from my house. My problem is that my wife and I aren't into camping and or dirt so there'd have to be decent amenities at either location. We're an hour from Daytona and are still on the fence about Biketoberfest because of the crowds. Bikeweek, ugh.... -
I've loaded tens of thousands of rounds on a Dillon 550 and 650. Never known anyone who "blew up" their press loading fast on a progressive and a lot of my friends have 1050's with auto-drives cranking out 1200/hr. Dillon by far has the best warranty in the business (they call it the No BS warranty) and they are awesome machines. The 550 is the easiest to change out calibers but I load 5 on my 650 with a casefeeder and auto index. Yes, I am a competitive shooter and have a reason to load accurate and reliable ammo. My ammo also has to make a minimum power factor (FPS for a certain caliber and bullet weight). Buy once, cry once. You won't save any money but you will shoot a lot more. Start stocking up on components and keep stoking up on components. After the 2012 election and Sandy Hook, it took 3 years for powder and primers to become available again (recently). Go to http://www.brianenos.com/forums There is tons of loading info and you can also buy a Dillon directly from Brian.

I usually wear a pair of Vans or Adidas Thrasher trail running shoes. I'm guilty of riding in shorts some of the time and don't even currently own a pair of boots. I used to gear up in leathers and boots when riding sport bikes but sold all that stuff other than a jacket with the last rocket. I don't like to ride in flip flops but have to admit I've considered it . Living at the beach you get accustomed to wearing as little in the way of clothes as possible.

OH CRAP Whenever I don't get something that I want I have to believe that the Big Guy in the Sky is watching out for me. It helps ease the pain a bit and usually there's something better right around the corner.

Oh hell no. I left Calgary for Florida and never looked back. I was blessed to make it down here in my early 30's instead of my 60's and it's been the best decision I ever made. I can ride, surf, shoot and golf year round. I've just never had a lower fairing like these and it's probably great in the cold and rain but when it's 100 degrees it's a heat trap. I am looking forward to those perfect 75 degree "Chamber of Commerce" days we get in the late fall and winter for riding though. Till then, we have a hurricane on it's way so all eyes are on the surf.

I've been riding my RSV mostly around town as of late and with the summer Florida weather we experience in August my damn feet are baking like meatloaves. I did a search and most answers had to do with wind deflectors and highway pegs. I've got highway pegs but don't really dig using them in stop and go traffic and I'm not really interested in bolting on yet another accessory. My question is, has anyone used heat wrap on the pipes and if so, how much difference did it make? I'm wandering into really unpleasant discomfort territory here. Loving the bike, hating the heat.

The term "pet peeve". WTH is a pet peeve? Way too mild of a term for what aggravates the crap out of me. Frivolous lawsuits, people who scam SS disability, and those who use handicap spots because they're lazy. There's too many handicap spots. Why does every Walmart need 18 handicap spots? People who call soda, "pop". It's freakin soda people.

I'd go for the guy in Louisiana. Who knows, he might be a straight up guy and there's a chance, however slim that he might even be a member of this forum. -
did i buy a lemon?

I had a 99 Drifter. Nice bike but nothing compared to the RSV. Let me know if your dealer will comp a repair on yours and maybe I'll check mine to see if I can get some free parts. -

I'm kind of getting used to my whine. I just pretend I have a turbo spooling up and chalk it up to the character of the bike. When it comes time to change out the clutch I'll try the upgraded basket to see if it makes a difference but for now if it ain't broke, don't fix it. -

I've been enjoying the bike but mostly solo these days. Limited riding due the nature of our rainy season. It's getting better at slow speeds although I still catch myself getting unstable if I have the bars turned creeping forward. Now I just need to get the wife on the back and become more comfortable with a wiggly worm behind me. -

Walmart will put prescription lenses in just about ant frame you give them starting at $38 for single vision. I had a bunch of Oakley frames with scratched up crap lenses in them that I brought in and had them install polarized single vision lenses. Cost $78 each for those. -

Not sure about the carbs but the large tube that's plugged at the front of the bike is most likely the AIS mod. That is a fresh air injection system that pumps air into the exhaust for emissions. It's useless and plugging it typically reduces popping in the exhaust. If you look under the bike where the center stand would be mounted you should see the same thing for the rear cylinders. I lowered my forks an inch and discovered after the fact that I couldn't get to the air valves on top to adjust the suspension. Looks like I will need bar risers to rectify that situation or a really small air pump. -
Or take him out to the woodshed....

If you can swing it buy a rental property and let someone else pay the mortgage. You must be handy if you ride a 1st Gen so you can probably handle the property maintenance yourself. Find a good Realtor who understands the math on an investment property and buy in the best neighborhood you can afford. Close to a university or hospitals is always a win. The market is on an upswing but with interest rates at 4% it's still a good time to buy. Real estate should be a minimum 10 year investment so don't go into it expecting to get rich quick like so many fools did back in 06/07. Yes I'm a Realtor.

I wish I had a gas pump in my driveway. I'd sell it to myself for $1.00 a gallon.
