  1. What did you clean them with. Oil and gas are a no no. May be why they are swollen.
  2. How could it be motorcycle and not be compatible with wet clutches? Castrol Syntec is compatible and I'm sure Grand Prix 4 stroke is.
  3. Me too. Put a new set of ME880's on to go to Alaska. 9,225 miles pulling a fully loaded Kwik Kamp. Couple of years later put a new one on to go to Nova Scotia. Never had a problem (knock on wood).
  4. '84 manual shows O wire i/c as #1 Gy wire i/c as #2 Y wire i/c as #3 W wire i/c as #4 R/W wire common to all.
  5. The front brake switch and the clutch switch are both N.C. switches that are held open by the lever. This applies to the brake light circuit and the starting circuit. This a probably why they were labeled Open/Closed in the 85 manual. The 89 manual labels them Push/Free which is probably more meaningful. The rear brake switch is labeled Free/Pull. Back in the old days when I actually did something all day, in the aircraft wiring diagrams all of switches, relays, etc were shown; Aircraft in the ground, Power off and Weight on wheels. Made trouble shooting a lot easier. You're doing a bang-up job, what ever that means.
  6. Hey, the King started the gallon thing. At least we are loyal to the King in that respect.
  7. Dingy, I finally got Foxit Reader to open your PDF. I printed that out on my 11x17 inkjet. Really looks good and a lot easier to read. I think you're find the 86 and up wiring to be 98% the same.
  8. Well of all, welcome. Second, what lever are you pulling on?
  9. Now you can do the '86- '93 diagram next. While you're not doing anything, you understand. It's a mess.
  10. Has anybody been able to open this? I can't, says there's any error. When I save it, it saved as 210k.
  11. Gibvel got it right.
  12. Push that half moon piece back in place and see if you can tighten the bolts that hold the valve cover on.
  13. Your right turn signal bulb is not grounded. Either at the socket or the socket is not grounded. Fix the ground and you'll fix the problem.
  14. Some shops, it would take them an hour just to find the carbs. And a little longer to figure out there's four.
  15. Dano, Got mine today. Looks like a new one, no scratches. Now I'll put on the shelf and hope I never need it. And hope I can find it if I need it.
  16. Now you have two doing the same thing. Makes you wonder what the real problem is. Ain't the oil. I run 20-50 Syntec year around. You're not running Molykote are you?
  17. I did buy a VR windshield from them a while back. And they still have them. $148.00.
  18. So, you replaced a known good, never had a problem item with an unknown item just because it was setting on your self. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Also, know as fix it til it's broke.
  19. I looked at my 83-84 Service Manual (which I use for my '89) and the wiring diagram in the back is the same as my '83 Manual. The block diagram is all you get. Maybe a later manual, which I have never looked at, will have the cruise control worong in it. I can tell you the clutch switch and front brake switch is different, and probably the rear brake, in they have both N.O. and N.C. contacts.
  20. Been using 20-50 in my VR's since '83 and habe never had a starter clutch problem. Used to ride to work most of the winter, starter always worked, heater never did.
  21. If you're getting good gas mileage, I'd leave it alone. Nobody rides around at 1100 prm and cracks the throttle wide open. Try it at 1500 or 1800. Anyway, you're lean at idle.
  22. You remove the trunk, then the CLASS cover and there you are, the whole CLASS system except for the control head.
  23. Brown wire on the connector should have 12v when the key is on. The signal fuse (the one with two brown wires) should have 12v on both sides of the fuse when the key is on.
  24. "Could there be a separate forum for GB's" Now there's a great idea! These posts go to the back pretty fast on a busy day.
