  1. I just put a couple on for Missouri. It worked pretty good.

  3. Are you having surgery to repair the knee? I had mine torn off 4 years ago and surgically repaired. The doctor wasn't very informative although he did a very good job as I can do anything now that I could do before. The best info I found was on the internet because Bill Clinton had the same surgery and it was heavily covered. It would hurt if I drove more than 100 miles until just recently. If I took a short break it would feel a lot better for another 100 miles.
  4. I have a question for some of you guys that are running E3s. Do you hear any howling slowing down. I have an E3 on the back and an Avon on the front and am getting a howling sound when I am slowing down. Nothing visually wrong with the tires.
  5. The new Rider magazine has a list of the 35 bikes that they consider the most significant of the last 35 years. The 1983 Venture was listed at #10. The 1985 V-max at 16.
  6. Amazing how quick it gets here from there.
  7. I just ordered one of the fobs too, but I am wondering what would happen if somebody got your password and ID and had a fob of their own.
  8. Like I said its been a few years but I believe I eyeballed it. The screws where the first thing I welded. You probably can't tell from the pictures but the angle iron top actually angles a little and I used the 2" tubing to make it level and also to compensate for the engine sticking down below the frame. Its not so out of level that I can't use it to lift the DR just by putting the angle iron top against the frame.
  9. Yes you can "rip" songs from Cds onto the computer and convert them to MP3s and download them to MP3 players. You have already bought the music and are just converting it to a more usable form.
  10. Its been a while but I think I had it screwed all the way down. You have to be sure the threads are the same in both jacks. Two from the same kind of car at a junk yard cheap is what I used.
  11. I built one using two screw jacks welded together so they both went up at the same time. They are attached with angle iron at the top and the bottom. I only use them to stand the bike up straight and get the wheel off a little. Any serious lifting I get out the big jack. Pictures here http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18340
  12. Before I got the electric vest I used Hot Hands Body Warmers to ride when it was it was real cold. Since my DR650 doesn't have enough wattage to support the vest for very long I have purchased some more. They are normally $1.97 at Walmart for a package of three but this time of the year they get put on clearance for about a dollar. The bigger sizes really work good to keep your torso warm which helps everything stay warm.
  13. He in our area,Lake of the Ozarks there is a place called B & P Hickory Pit Bar-b-q. Its on the other side of the lake from me but I get there a few times a year. The meat always melts in your mouth. Reasonable prices too. http://www.bandphickorypit.com/Comments.aspx
  14. I think part of the cost is product liability. I only have a couple of hundred dollars in mine and have thought about building to sell but if anybody ever crashed pulling one no matter what caused the crash the lawyers would want to sue anybody they thought they could get money out of.
  15. Those guys on TV never seem to find food they don't like.
  16. Heres mine. I used a large cooler until it proved itself and then built a nice wooden box.
  17. It is a tough addiction. I quit 29 years ago. Several years later when the place where I work banned tobacco and several people tried to quit, everybody talking about it caused the old cravings to come back. I have even had dreams where I backslid and they seemed so real even though I know I never have. I firmly believe that eventually they will connect smoking to a lot more cancers than they already have. Back around 1900 there was almost no emphysema or lung cancer but with the advent of factory cigarettes people smoked a lot more than they did when they had to roll their own and those diseases became more prevalent.
  18. Freebird Thanks for trying to keep everything on an even keel.
  19. This is great. Rode 60 miles to work and back Friday. !60 miles with my wife Saturday. 45 miles on gravel on the DR Sunday and 60 miles to work and back today.

  22. If there is a table at the Hub it sounds like there ought to be some pool playing. I used to play a lot but since the local pool hall closed I haven't been playing much. Basketball Shooting Reading
  23. There is definitely a rubber plug under there that is held in place by the finned side plate. If you decide to pull it out you use a spark plug and thread it into the metal insert in the rubber plug. Then the antifreeze will pour out. You have to take the gas tank off to fill it back up. The plastic tank under the seat is just an overflow.
  24. I watched the American women the year they won the World championship and said never again will I watch a soccer game. They played the whole game and never tried to score. Just waited till the end and kicked free kicks to decide the game.
  25. Dave Barry can be very funny sometimes. Thats a quick way to lose some weight.
