The extra weight you are carrying will get a lot harder to carry in a few years. If you can get it off now while you are still young it will help you your whole life. I am 53 and still play basketball but my knees sure feel better when I weigh 220 instead of 240.

I got my Morgan Carbtune within a week of ordering it. I have a Motion Pro Gauge I would sell for $30.00 but who ever buys it would have to pick it up because I can't ship it because of the mercury.

I might be stating something obvious, but the trailer has to be mounted so that when the bike leans the trailer leans and yet it needs to be able to flex up and down and left and right. I used a ujoint from a steering column on mine. I don't have a suspension but it pulls great.

I fell for mine as soon as I saw it and probably paid a premium because RSVs were kind of hard to find in 2002. I don't know if I will ever have another black bike though because of how easy they get dirty. For the first couple of years I couldn't get gas with out somebody saying something about how good it looked. I probably washed it more the first year than my previous bike the whole time I had it.

All of the RSVs had the same HP. The lower HP was in the original Royal Star.

The Stratoliner is a heavy bike too. I understand a heavy touring bike but I don't understand why such a heavy cruiser. It weighs 800 lbs which is not much less than a Venture.

Donlop tire question
midnightventure replied to Quicksilver's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I used the stock 404s for several tire changes. I was always complaining about the grooves in the highways. Since I switched to tires with a different tread pattern (currently Elite III) the bike doesn't follow the rain grooves any more. -
Mine also blew a fuse the first time I pugged a compressor into it. I made a adapter to plug into where my electric vest plugs in.

370161442310 Copy and paste this item # in Ebay to see. There was a thread a while back about hooking an mp3 player in and somebody posted about one that plugged right into the cassette player. I searched ebay and found one from Hong Kong that was 16.00 with shipping. I decided what the heck for 16 I would try it. It took about 20 days to get it. I tried it out a little while ago and it seems to work. I am sure not recommending it since I haven't had it that long and it is from China but I thought I would post a link for it for other people to look at if they wanted. My link kept saying the item had been removed but when you search for this item # it comes up.

Womens Joe Rocket XL Model 88 Jacket
midnightventure replied to midnightventure's topic in Riding Gear
It is an XL. My wife is short waisted and this coat just didn't work for her. I can take a picture and email it if you would like. It didn't make reserve on ebay but it is a really nice coat. -
I have done almost the same thing except my buttons are a little close to the front.

I hope that they are going to learn from this.

Here at the Lake of the Ozarks the local marine mechanics have been saying that people that stop on the way to the lake and fill up their boats to avoid the high prices on the lake have been having fuel system issues. It is related to the storage time and the alcohol absorbing water. It seems that somebody that didn't run their fuel out pretty regular will probably have more issues than somebody that rides regular.

I use Scottrade. I wanted to by some utility stock when the market first dived. I rode over to the closest city with a office with cash and they wouldn't take it. Luckily I had my checkbook with me. Maybe thats unluckily since the stock has dropped even more.

I bought my Sonoma with the 4.3 v6 the last year they were available because I like the 4.3 so well. Sounds like I did the right thing.
-
I am not familiar with Fords but I am Chevrolet S10 and GMC Sonoma. I have always had v6s and from what I hear from the people that have the 4 cylinders they only get 3 or 4 more miles to the gallon. I normally get about 21 mpg driving 60 miles a day. When I picked up my DR in Indiana I got 25 mpg both ways. Surprised me. I pulled a 6'x10' enclosed trailer to South Dakota and then to Colorado. I had hoped to get 15 mpg and only got 13. I didn't use OD because the transmission is a little weak. The trailer had my Venture and camping gear so it was loaded pretty heavy. That was before my wife realized that she could ride long distances.

I wish we would stay on Daylight Savings time year round. I hate getting home from work right before it gets dark in the winter.
-
I went for a ride on my DR wearing my Aerostich Friday. I was on the four lane about 5 miles and met a group of 4 Harleys and about a quarter mile later a group of Japanese cruisers. None of them waved. If I had been riding my Venture I am pretty sure at least some from both groups would have.

(Parking, Trusted Location, Etc.) No Kind of Food? (Mexican, Chinese, etc.) BBQ and steaks. Alcohol Served? - Additional Comments This restaurant is special in that it is in a cave way up on a bluff. The food is ok. The website listed is not theirs, it is a review site. You park in a gravel lot and catch a shuttle. You have to ride a little ways on gravel. They only take cash.

What are your thoughts on this trailer?
midnightventure replied to Oldseadog's topic in Watering Hole
I have never pulled a commercial one but I built one that is similar except the box is not as pretty. Mine doesn't have a suspension. When I am pulling it I forget it is back there sometimes. I pulled it to Duluth,MN last summer and my riding buddy said it looked very well behaved behind me. I also got just as good gas mileage as without it. In a strong wind I get blown a little more but not bad. At slow speeds it is a little more weight on a already heavy bike. Since I don't pull it that often I usually pull into a church parking lot up the street and do a few figure 8s and circles to get used to it. About 3 minutes worth.
