  1. I have an almost brand new one laying around but since I took it off about this time last year it probably wasn't manufactured in that time period. Using it to hold trailer tongue off the ground right now. About all its good for.
  2. Those of you thinking about getting a dual sport should check out Thumper Talk. Just like our Ventures most have them have common problems and you can find out each models problems.
  3. I have a Beretta 9000s in .40. It is a medium size concealable gun and I really like it. It is very accurate and it has never malfunctioned. I have shot it quite a bit.
  4. I think the smart car is pretty stupid. It doesn't even get that good of gas mileage considering how small it is.
  5. My other guns I have shot a lot but the 380 I haven't even put a full box through. It is surprisingly accurate although much harder to shoot accurately than my other guns. It has been reliable so far but a friend of mine that also has one had trouble with his original magazine.
  6. If the state has a reciprocating agreement with my state I go ahead and carry. If it doesn't I stop and unload and separate ammo from the gun. Its not worth it to me to end up with a record if I would happen to get stopped and searched ( something that has never happened to me).
  7. I have one of those undershirts with a built i holster. Really conceals well but on an all day ride really got uncomfortable. I'm afraid I'm like the earlier poster and I end up carrying my Keltec 380 a lot.
  8. Mine handles pretty good too. If we have been on a long trip and I unhook the trailer and my wife gets off the Venture feels like a dirt bike for a while.
  9. If you guys did four bikes in one day that is amazing. With all the stuff that has to come off and the tight fit on the valve covers you did a heck of a job. How about posting the details on how to do it?
  10. That looks like a nice ride. My daughter lives in Chippewa Falls. I rode up there and then on to Duluth on a scenic road that paralleled a river right on the border of WI and MN. Then I cut over to I35 to get some of Tobys cinnamon rolls. Very scenic country. That was last Aug when the Aerostich VBR rally was going. Got below freezing overnight in Duluth in Aug.
  11. What part of the lake are you staying at? Its a pretty big lake.
  12. 6'2" and I also lift my foot to press the brake pedal. I think that this contributes to the locking up the back brake problem.
  13. If you are coming through St. Louis on your way here take 94 at St. Charles south. Its a few more miles and slower but some pretty scenery. Very curvy in places but most of the roads around here are. 94 hooks back up with 54 at Jefferson City.
  14. Most any thing south is curvy and prettier than Bill is letting on. West of Camdenton is Ha Ha Tonka State park . It has some castle ruins and a pretty good size spring. The hiking trails show the karst topography the area is known for. J road between 7 and 54 is worth riding. It has some great views but they are kind of hidden at this time of the year. D road from Ha Ha Tonka is good too. You can go south a little farther and visit Bennett Springs State Park. Huge trout.
  15. You all are being much nicer than the people on advrider are about this. I have always thought that cops should set a better example than the rest of us. Above all though don't be a hypocrite and charge people with the same thing that they are guilty of. I have a good friend that I also worked with. Every evening when we got off we would be on each others tail running faster than the speed limit. He became a deputy sheriff and I asked him if he issued very many tickets for speeding. I give him credit for saying that people have to be doing something pretty bad before he bothers them. Here in our rural county there are plenty of other things the deputies need to be doing. He's a state park ranger now so he doesn't have to worry about it.
  16. yeah
  17. My Trans Am was made in Canada but I personally consider them American.
  18. There are no Goldwings being built in the US anymore. There used to be a Kawasaki plant in Neb. I had an American made Kawasaki. Never heard of a American made Yamaha or Suzuki motorcycle. Those guys putting together the Harleys are doing a lot more for the economy than Honda of Japan selling cars and motorcycles to Honda of America and Honda of America never shows a profit. All the profit goes overseas. Even the Japanese car plants here in the states are just a drop in the bucket compared to the imported vehicles they sell. Some of the same people that complain about high Harley prices will go pay 10000 more dollars for a Japanese vehicle than a comparable American vehicle. Bill Madole who drives a 2003 GMC Sonoma that only cost 12,300 brand new.
  19. You could try changing the angle of the screen. I use a Tomtom 3 and see it pretty well.
  20. You pay extra money because it is built by Americans.
  21. I have a desire to ride to Key West but then when I look at the distance involved I talk myself out of it.
  22. I'm curious too. I can see it can swivel up and down but can it pivot left and right or is it always straight with the bike? I built my single wheel with a u joint hook up and a lower mounting point.
  23. I was looking for a KLR when I found my DR. I agree that dual sports are a ton of fun. I am more comfortable on gravel on the Venture now.
  24. If there was any oil on the threads it would affect your torque. When my Sears broke a few years ago I didn't replace it with a Harbor Freight. Some of their tools are OK but a torque wrench is just to important to go cheap on.
  25. I'm not sure if a rectifier for your bike is discrete components or not. If they are then the parts that do the rectifieing are diodes. They are usually black with a grey ring around one end. You can use an ohmmeter and check for continuity both directions. They should pass DC one way but not the other way. If it is a sealed box then this doesn't apply.
