What do you DOG owners use so your dog can ride on the bike?
midnightventure replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/beast-rider-motorcycle-dog-seat.1121993/#post-28690392 This is for sale on advrider.com. I have no connection, just remembered it when I saw your post. -
I have been interested in them since I first heard about them but I am starting to lose faith. Now the Feds are starting to try to force them to meet car standards which would raise the costs a lot.

Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National park look doable. -
looking for advice about buying a mustang covertible

My wife has a 2006 with the v6. She really likes it. It was our sons before he moved to China and he ordered it with the Pony package which make it look and handle like GT. It is a lot more nimble in a parking lot than my Transam but they both handle curvy roads well. Of course the 6 doesn't have the power the Transam does but doesn't do bad. -
There was a day when you would be acclaimed as a hero for doing that. Still that way in most rural areas. Big city police departments are a whole different story.

A lot of people that do have insurance don't carry any more that the legal minimum which here in Missouri isn't very much. That was me when I was younger but then I realized I wanted to at least try to make sure I had enough in case I caused somebody serious harm. With 3 cars, a truck, and 3 motorcycles and a million dollar balloon policy on all of them it costs quite a bit every year but at least I tried.

Riding the blue roads of Google Maps
midnightventure replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
My Garmin can be programmed to take an exact route I want to ride. I can then open it in Google Earth. Most of the areas I like to ride will have little photo emblems all over. I can click on them and see most of the best sights. That is how I found the best waterfall that I know of here in Mo. -
The Venture does pretty good until you get into the sharper corners but especially if the corner is rough from people slamming on the brakes it needs some cushion. I just bought a smaller more powerful bike myself although I plan to keep the Venture to ride back and forth to work.

My first experience with the first trailer that I ever owned.
midnightventure replied to Eck's topic in Watering Hole
I have a trailer much like that for the same reason. Luckily I had a helmet on the first time I pulled in because without a thought about me hitting I hit. Before you start up the ramp it looks like there is plenty of room. -
Valuable lesson learned - just passing it on

I have a friend with a Harley. One day he started his bike and went back in and ended up leaving the fob. Went back out to the bike and rode to meet some friends. Shut off the bike and later realized he didn't have the fob and couldn't start the bike to go on the ride they had planned. It's been a while since he told me about it so I might have some of the details wrong. -
Even though they are spoked wheels they are tubeless. That makes a patch job a lot easier out away from home.

I know that is old. I don't remember who was the first to post that. 2013 Yamaha Super Tenere. I have been wanting one for a while and they have finally gotten into the price range I was happy with. 38,000 miles. I believe that people that miss the first generation Venture would like this bike. Even though it is only a 2 cylinder it is very powerful and smooth. http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad166/midnightventure/CIMG2642_zpscfnrv0xp.jpg http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad166/midnightventure/CIMG2643_zpsduscfzfu.jpg

2nd stock shock puked it's guts up.
midnightventure replied to midnightventure's topic in Watering Hole
About 35 unless it had bled down. Both times for me there was big puddle under the shock on the garage floor. -
At 106000 miles my second shock has a puddle of oil right under the shock again. The first one was replaced under warranty but I am going aftermarket for this one. I believe I am going with the Hagon. Have very many had negative experiences with it?

The odometer is much closer than the speedometer.

My local utility has a program that allows you to invest in their stock and they don't charge any fees. Pays about 4 % right now. I have it taken out of my account automatically every month and after several years it has accumulated quite a bit. The dividends are reinvested. I plan to start collecting them when I retire. In 2008 it dropped when the rest of the market crashed but not as bad.

The train at Durango is good but time consuming. My wife and I bought 1 round trip ticket. I rode out and she met me. She rode back to Durango and I drove.

I very seldom run into those with my Venture. All the time with the DR650. They are definitely slick. It helps to stay in the upstream car tracks.

With the key in the run position there would not have been any juice going to the starter so sitting for a few minutes in that position didn't cause the problem. It was just due to happen. I used to have an 87 Chevy Astro. Loved that van. Got 25 mpg on the hwy. It was my wife's daily driver and she decided she wanted something different. I have had a truck with the same drive train ever since then though.

I'm thinkin' it's gotta be the head unit.
midnightventure replied to uncledj's topic in Watering Hole
I would turn off the CB as somebody said to at least see if it helps. At least turn the squelch way up. -
I bought a rear from Pinwall a few years ago. Reaonable and was in good shape.

Just out of curiosity, What stuff do you have? There might be people interested that could pick it up at the International rally.

Was the Pig Trail open? It was closed by a landslide a few weeks ago.

If I ever replace my bikes I believe I will get one with ABS. I had a bad one about 10 years ago and it took about a year to ride as fast I did before even though it was a left turner and not speed that caused mine. Then a couple of years ago I broke my elbow playing basketball and when I started riding again the fear of crashing was back. I don't believe I have ever gotten back to the level of confidence I had before. Maybe being almost 60 and being injured multiple times figures into it to.

I was already thinking that the police had over reached. Your story just adds to what I was already thinking. I don't go to big motorcycle events very often but I would hate to think that I went to one and violence broke out and I got arrested just for being there. Or maybe I was riding through and just happened to stop in for a meal and the scenery.
