Winter storm has passed but left beauty!
kevin-vic-b.c. replied to Sylvester's topic in Watering Hole
That looks like a snow storm in Victoria, did you get the day off work because of it.... we often do when we get that much all at once. -
Since my oldest boy was about very young, he would ask us to sponsor a "brother" in Africa. We have given to World Vision ever since. We have a young boy we have cared for now since he was a baby. His village has goats and chickens as well as school supplies, and my brother-in-law thought that was such a great thing for us to do he bought a medical clinic last Christmas for World Vision. This is over and above what we are able to do with our local charities year round. The Squid is right... it is a great gift to give. I did get a fantastic Sony A330 camera with 200 mm zoom for taking pics of the kids sports and stuff. As a good romantic plumber my wife got a new bathroom sink and tap set.

I had a very nice ride today to and from work... highway was wet in the morning but nice and dry on way home. I only have a few more weeks to use the Venture to commute as I have applied for "collector" plate. The plate will not permit me ride it to work but will keep insurance around 200 $ a year from the 1100 now. I have a heated vest but seldom use it when riding the Venture since I bought an M2R brand jacket. It is so wind proof I stay very comfortable riding in it with a good shirt or sweater under it. I have Joe Rocket Alter ego pants and a good pair of riding boots that keep me warm year round. We do not usually get much below freezing with out having an ice issue so not used to many below freezing rides but lots around the freezing zone

I am sure this summer when it was 30 C here and my son was cycling across Canada he was asking for a canoe to be sent his way as he rode the prairies !

My brother has a BMW GS 1200. It kept dying, it would last about 21 days and then go electrically dead. They changed every thing including stripped the bike down and changed the wiring harness and the computer "board" after that the Bike worked fine so my brother went back to the dealer to tell him all was good except his alarm system was not working.... the head mechanic told him he had left the alarm disconnected because he felt that was the problem but the engineers out east had told him to change the computer. They reconnected the alarm.... 21 days later the bike was dead again..... new alarm. They spent more on that bike than it was worth.... they refused to give him a new bike.

I am not sure if you see the show "mythbusters" in the USA but I know they did a segment on this "myth" They could not create a fire with gasoline fumes and a cell phone. Yes I can see the possibility that the static electrical spark. I do know when I get in and out of my wifes chev express van I get a good spark. As an experienced gas fitter I know that the conditions have to just right to get any fuel vapor to ignite. Too much air or too much fuel and you get no fire. The gas pumps around here are not able to be "locked" on. You have to manually hold the trigger, if you will, they removed the locks years ago when the self serve was started. Now we also have to pay for our fuel before the pump will dispense the fuel. This is due to the death of a young fuel station worker in our area whos' family petitioned the government and got what is called "Grants Law" created. http://www2.news.gov.bc.ca/news_releases_2005-2009/2006LCS0015-001193.htm

From over here you are doing a good job with the Titans..... sorry about the roads. Our roads have something they call asphalt on them, except where they tried to put "tar snakes" and made "tar Lakes"' unless you drive an SUV they are not fit for use... we are just paying for crooked politically inclined people to screw up our provinces great economy. BTW If you have any pull as a shareholder and the Titans need a good kicker I have a very gifted son that will be looking for a job next season.

I will be thanking all the vets today along side my 91 yr old mother. My dad and his 4 brothers all enlisted for WWII. One brother did not return from Holland and is laid to rest there. I thank you all.... past, present, future. Kevin

.....the hardest part is over now! My former employer offerred to pay anyone on staff that quit $500.00. He started with 9 smoking staff including his mother that had smoked all his life. The smell of smoke makes him ill. I was the only staff member to meet the dates and conditions he had laid out but in the end he ended up with only one smoker on staff.... not his mother..... to him it was worth every penny. He paid for accupunture, he paid for hipnosis to anyone that wanted it... for me... he just paid $500.00 in cash. After about 15 months off of the smokes my oldest sister lost her battle with cancer... I wanted a smoke soooooo bad...... then I thought.... that would be the last thing on earth my sis would want... she lost her husband to lung cancer as well. Any time I have thought of a smoke.... and it is not often... I think of my big sister. Find reasons to never touch them again..... not reasons to light up again. Power to you ! Think of what you will do with all the cash.... they are about $10 a pack here I think.... what are they there? :mo money::mo money::mo money::mo money::mo money:

I am seeing closer to 7-800 $ more here but chrome is a good thing as long as the wife thinks I had no choice, it all came with the bike dear ! I am just dreaming out loud right now, if push comes to shove, I can live without chrome at first as long as the rest of the goodies are there.

.....you test rode one..... I love my Venture deeply...... but if you ride a Wing you will be hooked. I have ridden an '02 and an '09 Wing.... I f I had the money and thought for a minute I would survive the wife finding out that is what would be in the garage. Did you get the air bag? Does it have GPS ?
-
A short question...... what is the S in the new Venture model ? So when I look at a Venture with no S what am I missing out on ? Thanks, you guys are always great here.

I watched one on a portable dyno machine at our local Triumph dealers grand opening. I thought the guy was going to torque the trailer over with the thing. It was massive... I think it was like 190 HP or something crazy like that....
