  1. I have the same bike and have just replaced chain and sprockets, first time in 19,000 kilometers. I sent to the dealer that sold me the bike, a friend, and bought them from him so I got comparable product so it is not likely I will ever have to change them again. Just me.
  2. Wife and I both have the HJC modular with sun visors. We consider them our "touring helmets" as we also have our Scala rider blue tooth intercom on mounted on them . We have HJC full face for every day use. I am as much about pricing as anyone but I do prefer to buy gear like helmets and gloves local. We have had a few local dealers close up just like I see south of me. I believe we need to help them stay in business. Yup the online stuff will keep your local guys honest but we need to support them for the long haul, even if it costs me $10.00. :mo money: :mo money:
  3. I do know a fellow that his "hobby" if you will is taking part in those no purchae nessisary things and he and his wife enter all these contests,,, he has won a car, money, boats, trips and all kinds of junk that he as often as not just sells off. It is his hobby and it only costs him the time and a postage stamp.
  4. Maybe it is the banks we use but I have had 2 recent card issues: One night wife and I sitting watching a movie when the phone rang... it was almost 10 pm and the only one that phones me at that time of night is Rocket ..... I answered and a voice stumbled with my wifes name asking if she was there.... now knowing it was not Rocket I assumed a telemarketter.... asked who was calling ... the voice returned with is this Kevin? Saying yes to that he explained he was from our banks Visa branch then he asked me if Lori was doing teleshopping at Home Depot in New York..... I said no she is watching a movie. Then he asked if we had paid our cable/internet bill this evenning on our credit card.... no we never do... He said he knew we never had in past and our credit cards were as of that moment cancilled. Got off the phone onto the computor and the bank site and he was right no credit cards existed in our name no more..... Work company card... 3 week old "chip" card. Tried to pay a suplier and it kept coming back declined..... The government pays their credit cards, I knew it was not over limit... phone the bank.... they asked if I had been shopping at a bed and bath chain store... I said no we do not have that outlet in our city.... card cancilled because of it before I knew it. The systems in place are pretty tight but yup you gotta keep track of your cards always. And keep changing the PIN numbers.
  5. I say no... not able to flip. It is a "mid" efficiency unit. I could not even get a permit to install that here any more.... if I was trying. It is a garage furnace at best now. Any furnace requires some duct work installed on the outlet so even to install it in the garage you need to have a lower section of tin work made up so you do not burn it out very quickly. just my $.02.
  6. sad news for sure..... but.... you know this place is like the Hotel California..... you can change bikes but you can never leave. We will always be here.... now try and sleep with your eyes closed ! hope we still see you areound here elcorbs.
  7. I am not sure "rip off" is really the correct way of putting it. They made most of the parts that made up the 650 for suzuki along with parts for other bikes, yes I believe Harley was one of them. One day someone decided to put all those parts together in their own factory and produce/market a machine in their own name...... I have ridden one... I believe it was the 650, it was about 5 years ago..... I had nothing negative to say about it.... I do know they are an inexpensive bike, we have a dealer here and he sells a few, not many but he is out selling the Royale Enfield dealer locally so life is not too bad I guess.
  8. OK..... for any others ...like me... that had seen ChrisFrench has a youtube link as his signature and NOT played it..... like me.... you gotta play it ! Great video Chris and thank you for sharing that with us... how long was the ride? What fantastic scenery, and bikes too. Loved it and thanks for sharing. Kevin

  12. here is gun safety from my area: Victoria’s police chief has been reprimanded for leaving his loaded firearm under the seat of his police cruiser while he was at a press conference last Friday revealing that the department had misplaced a cache of riot gear. Jamie Graham admitted Wednesday that he left his service pistol holstered under the driver’s seat of his unmarked car, parked at police headquarter’s locked underground parkade, while he spoke to the media about the “unacceptable” disappearance of equipment. Graham said in a statement that he ordered a thorough search of the department’s buildings and cars in an attempt to find a missing shotgun, tear gas, pepper balls and tactical vests. Instead, detectives found the chief’s pistol stored under the seat of his car, which is contrary to department policy that firearms stored at headquarters “must be unloaded, placed inside a locking drawer within a locked locker, and not be left unattended.” The department was already being criticized for losing the riot gear, which raised public safety concerns about the equipment ending up in the wrong hands. Victoria police have not said whether the gear was stolen or misplaced and would not say how long it went unaccounted for. It is still missing. An investigation into Graham’s gaffe by the department’s deputy chiefs, John Ducker and Del Manak, was forwarded to the chairman of the police board, Mayor Dean Fortin. Fortin gave Graham a written reprimand for neglect of duty. “Just as I expect every member of this department to take full responsibility for their actions, I take responsibility for this incident and I accept the Discipline Authority’s findings,” Graham said in a statement. “The last thing I want is for this inadvertent mistake to cast a shadow over the hard work that the men and women of VicPD do every day.” The Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner is aware of the decision. Deputy complaint commissioner Rollie Woods said the discipline is in line with similar situations. Fortin said he did not ask whether the chief has ever left his pistol under his seat before this incident. “We deal with what is,” Fortin said. “An incident has come to light, we investigate it, we’ve dealt with it and it is certainly our expectation that it won’t happen again.” Improper storage of a firearm is a criminal offence under the Canadian Criminal Code, but police officers are exempt from this. Fortin said the fact that the pistol was in the locked underground garage means there was no risk to the public. This is Graham’s second misconduct finding while serving as Victoria police chief. He received a written reprimand for discreditable conduct for comments he made at a Vancouver security conference in November 2009 about an undercover officer supposedly spying on Olympic protesters. While he was Vancouver police chief, Graham was cited for discreditable conduct for refusing to co-operate with an RCMP investigation. Graham began a five-year contract with Victoria police in January 2009. Fortin said it’s too early to tell whether the two misconduct findings will have any bearing on whether Graham, 63, is offered another term in 2014. 13. wouldn't you love to have enough talent that you could do work like that and then sit back and say..... " all in all pretty good "
  14. thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
  15. IF I drive everyday it would cost me a tank of gas a week, about 60 to 70 $ in my little GMC Jimmy. I mainly commute by bicycle and at times use tranist. It is only about 10 miles to work takes me 45 minutes by bicycle over an hour each way when bussing and 25 to 30 minutes to drive. Bus tickets would cost me $22.50 a week to do 5 days both ways. My son mostly rides my gs500 so a tank on that will last him over a month and it is under $20 to fill it. oooh bicycle maintenance is around $100 per year average including tires.
  16. here is one everyone should watch about health..... it works! I know it for a fact. Yes your vitiamin intake is very very important. I see the blood sucker at least once a year to make sure I am in good order.... my wife... she would be bleeding on the sidewalk and tell you she is fine. BUT she has joined me and helped me lose wieght and keep in good health. [ame] [/ame]
  17. I think once you are in Kelowna id don't matter what way you ride it is going to be fantastic.
  18. Seen that a number of times in NACAR races..... IT happens
  19. Ok I have to admit I had to go to my profile and look to be sure....... Picture is of me with my 86 Venture in front of a snow bank in July on the top of Huricane Ridge, part of Olympic National Park in Washington State. I have always thought it was funny that the Canadian had to go South to the US to find snow to get his picture taken. Just another fantastic ride close to home.
  20. Tax refund this year will be $43.00 Canadian. How many tickets can I get for that? OOh maybe I should save it for next month whe I don't have a job... wife might want some food money!

  25. .... I live where I live. I keep my bikes plated year round, I ride when it is safe to ride, we do get a lot of black ice durring the fall winter spring months, we even have to admit that sometimes... it is rare... but sometimes that white stuff does show up:snow::snow:, but normally only a day or two of it. It is not uncommon to be out on Christmas day or New Years day for a ride.... boxing day, rememberance day, thanksgiving, ground hog day, any day is likely to be a riding day. Yes some times it is wet sometimes it is cold some times it is hot. But every ride you come home safe from is a good ride. One of my favorite ride days is Independance Day rides across the staights to Washington States' Olymipic Mountains. It is usualy sunny and warm at the bottom and sunny with snow caps up on top. :sun::rain2::sun1: I am hoping another ride to Whistler with the west coast crew is in the works this year as well. ride safe
