  1. I just watched the news and saw commissionaire scooter and pick up collided. I know that is your area.... Please let us know you are well !!!
  2. I had the same problem with the OT this winter, the taxes kill ya on it though. So wife got new kitchen floor and counters, new entry railing, new paint for kitchen and front entrance new TV and entertainment unit.... she can write all that off her taxes..... oh and I got a 2002 Venture, I don't think that can get written off though so I am taking the rest as time off in July/August.
  3. Yes they are stock mufflers, I have checked the exhaust while I had it off and seemed to have minor leakage around the Y of the right side, I used some steel putty stuff around it just in case. I have checked that I put the vac tubes back on securely also but yes I am going to spray check the intake system. I am thinking a bit of cause and effect here, the AIS disconnect is 90% cure, a couple little pops out of it on way home tonight running it very hard. I can smell a bit of raw fuel someplace so although it is much much better I don't think this is the end of the investigation. I know very little about carburetors, even working on cars for years I never did carbs but something is still not correct I think. I am going to get the valves checked in the off season, not willing to try it myself alone for first time during riding season, so a mechanic I know is always good about fair rates in the winter when his shop is dead quiet.
  4. Well Mick Kyte connected with me on Facebook and suggested disconnecting the AIS, I followed a thread started byFreebird, so far so good.
  5. Steve, when I run our cancer fun raiser, The Terry Fox Run, race this summer I will be running with you in my heart. Terry Fox was a young man in the 80s that attempted to run across Canada after losing one leg to Cancer, unfortunately he was unable to complete the run but thousands of Canadians, like me, continue his fund raising to help battle this terrible disease, we all pray Cancer can be beaten. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Fox
  6. All the plugs were in great shape when I pulled them, nice golden brown. Backfire on deceleration when engine gets warmed up.
  7. Very sad tonight..... my 86 sold this evening..... What a fantastic motorcycle it is. I guess someone else is happy tonight, he knew what he was looking for, never asked to ride it, just started it in the driveway revved the throttle to maybe 2500 let it idle a few minutes,,,, said he had to go get his wife to show her..... All gone now
  8. No not that kind of help...... well maybe 2002 Venture, 48,000 km (30,000 mi ) I have a backfire problem on the Right side. I have done a carb sync... I think it made it worse I replaced exhaust gaskets on right side I changed the plugs... that's fun... they were all nice and golden brown color When I had exhaust apart I noted that the rear cylinder pipe was clean the front was blackened Valves to the best of my or PO knowledge have never been adjusted. I have run hi test fuel through with Seafoam in it I need help.... what now. thanks much
  9. Glad it is working out so well for you Rick, the adjustments you can make to have the bike fit you can be huge. I do the demo ride and I get to ride it and that is it. If you have places where your jeans are scuffing there is always the 3M clear decal that can go in places. I have last week of June off I may be over on the mainland riding. Not sure if I should go south or north and east. I have still got a love hate relationship going with the 2nd generation. 1st gen is on kijji and usedeverywhere.
  10. sorry but..... with... it don't work for me without
  11. I can see it.... Ice Cream Cake from DQ !
  12. My brother and a few friends do and they are very happy, I may look at a package with the 3 bikes for 3rd party and liability later this month. I do not put collision and any of my vehicles.
  13. I have never been but understand entry fee is a gallon of ice cream !
  14. I have the same problem with my 02, more of a bang at times on deceleration, I did sync carbs, thought exhaust leak, pulled right side apart, new gaskets, front cylinder tube is carbonned so I am trying plugs next even tho I know PO chanced them last fall. I am open to other ideas also.
  15. and look at some here too.... http://www.customdynamics.com/Yamaha_tail_retro.htm
  16. It is bike to work week this week but they tell me motorcycles don't count! I am back on the no gas needed bike. I think the Ventures get worse milage than my car anyway, but way more fun!
  17. And with ICBC they will want another document fee as well!
  18. Dunlop says; no tire should be used after seven year from date code, replace after five to six years I keep repeating this as that is what they told me directly but I am continually told by others that they have been stored properly. There was no mention of storage in their statement, do not use was there.
  19. A BIT more snow????????????/ Like 6 or 7 feet MORE. I never saw a flake this year and you got how much? I don't think Victoria saw any freezing this winter. I am good with the rain thanks.
  20. it is not an easy screw to find, I know I would never have found it if I had not found the procedure with photos here also. 2 things, do it indoors with a dimly lite room, don't turn on all the lights in the shop then use the good LED flashlight. And I am nowhere near getting old! just saying
  21. Local transit buses do it here as well... just no horn.... to keep up with schedual.
  22. I was under the impression that Washington State has some similar regulation about eye protection. I always ride with full face but before I had to wear eyeglasses full time I would often have the visor open and at best a drug store pair of sun glasses. My new helmet has a drop down sun visor and I do now carry proper safety rated sun glasses when wearing contacts. I do not know if there is a similar reg here at home but I am going to look into it.
  23. Just one thing to add, though the truck had come to the US via BC it had originated in Alberta and was carrying a drilling unit to Vancouver Wa.
  24. I wear Joe Rocket pants year round.... yup at times they are hot. If you are riding they are ok with some good riding shorts under them.... in traffic on a hot day they are hot. I have a Joe Rocket Kevlar mesh jacket for summer and a M2R jacket for winter, rain gear if needed. Jeans are great to wear, but had the pleasure of seeing how well they protect you when you hit the ground wearing them ( my Big Bro did the testing on that not me) Even the Kevlar "dragin" jeans may or maynot have the padding you really want when you hit the ground. http://www.joerocket.com/catalog/index.cfm/237/130/Pants/Alter_Ego_Pant just me
