  1. Jay Leno garage did a video on a guy doing spray chroming, he said he could chrome anything, from car parts to dishes. I will try and find the link again unless someone else has it. it is not dipping like we are used to. got it.......
  2. well it actually got below freezing in down-town Victoria tonight. I may have to bring out my heated vest to ride tomorrow.
  3. So it is spark to pilot flame then? The ignition assembly 1/2 way back on the burner. Most of the units up here have been "hot surface ignition " for a long time to meet efficiency and code requirements, so never thought of spark. If the flashing code says clear then as far as I recall from doing residential work years back, that is is most likely not proving air flow. Some Carrier models you could disconnect the thermostat then jumper across 2 pins on the board marked "Test" and it would run it through the pre-firing sequence You do check your flashing code before you turn power off and before you open the cabinet door? The cabinet door had a switch that killed power on some models before you could read the code. We drilled a hole in the door so you could read code first. Residential work was 15 years back now, I can tell you easily how to get a 35,000,000 BTU high pressure steam boiler fired if you need.
  4. I am only 32 years in.... But..... I still have the 67 VW Bug she used to push start when we dated. My brother Mike has kept his 67 Camero convertible as well.
  5. Years gone by the old oil furnaces had a red "reset" button. This would trip when you had flame failure. The newer gas units do not have a red button but you turn off the switch to Reset the control module. So in short for some reason the flame is not lighting. Depending on the exact unit, I only had a bit of Carrier experience, there is a red rubber tube that proves air flow from the draft inducer, unplug it from the inducer and poke a small Allen Key through the hole and make sure the passage is clear. The Air Switch that the other end is connected to may be faulty. Or the circuit board could be defective. There is a Test capability on this circuit board, should be instructions in your owners manual, but if it is intermittent my guess would be air switch or plugged(cracked) air line.
  6. umm sorry I was just out of elementary school......
  7. It is always difficult to explain where we live with out pointing on a map, that does not do it justice. Always difficult to explain what our area looks like. As the camera goes past Victoria it will show you the Olympic Peninsula (Washington State) as well as Cape Flattery Wa. I believe the Northern most point of the lower US States and further north than I am. I often take a ferry across and ride that area. I live in Victoria, Sailor lives on Salt Spring Island, they will show you, and Rocket and Oldseadog live at the South West end of the Cowichan Valley. Words can not explain the area we live in..... hope this does. 8. It has a book..... alot of newer cars/trucks are coming with a Tablet in the glove box as the manual. I have a buddy that says he was just mastering his "smart phone" when he bought his first new car in over 30 years.... Mercedes..... he says that is smarter than his smart phone. it all costs and it all breaks.
  9. I will not let the Venture out much over winter but the V-Strom is 12 months a year. When it has been wet then freezes I gotta think safety first. I did see a few motorcycles on my way to work .... the bicycle is fun... co-works think I am nuts but I enjoy the ride. I work in a heating plant so I warm up quickly.
  10. MOS I was 10 yrs younger when I started having trouble with my ticker. I was told all the same same except loose 75 lbs. Research the South Beach diet plan, it works and you can still eat. Walk lots and all will go well. take care of yourself first, the stress melts away.
  11. It is cold out there... everything is frosty.... it hit freezing over night... it aint raining:rain2: As it is unsafe to ride motorcycle when it is icy I am going to be safe....... Going to tide my bicycle to work today.... Have a good and safe day everyone
  12. Nope the beautiful Wet Coast of Canada.... There is a reason they call it a Rain Forest. But South of the US Western Line
  13. Stored for the winter:confused: what the H is that. How do you go for Christmas, New Years, Groundhog Day rides then:Venture: ?
  14. Brother is goin on a year of rehab and surgery for his. I have avoided the knife with acupuncture and exercise. The only advise I can give is to keep up on physio therapy and lots of exercising to build the muscles around the shoulder... this is where big bro is lacking, causing him a ton of trouble.
  15. you earned it dude use it for keeping your self well !
  16. I had the 86 for six years and now just 7 months on the 02. Miss the 86 greatly but I am only able to keep 2 bikes in my garage and the V-Strom is so usable year round.
  17. I have de-chromed car wheels and I tell you it was a beach to do. Sand blast, etching primer then paint. I have know idea how it would stand up to the heat. Speak with a powder coating shop near you and see what they say. :mo money:talks
  18. I am thinking there is few Ventureriders in the center of the country.... you and Brian are the only 2 I know of. Ontario east and the Rockies west. Maybe a couple in Alberta.
  19. no problems running through XP and my security
  20. Be safe.
  21. I Think..... front forks are larger diameter on second gen so it will = PSI/area or literally Pounds Per Square Inch in the shock. I do not know about the rear shock for sure but very likely the same explanation. If the rear shock was the same 1st to 2nd gen we would all have 1st gen shocks in our seconds correct. as for the ...... big difference between 1st and 2nd on launch is.... I was never able to "smoke" my 1st gen rear on take off.... but I sure as hell had better be hanging on tight.... 2nd gen I can light up rear tire any time I want to.... summer time at the race track I turned more than a few heads when they noticed "That Big Bike" smoking on launch. And yes.... hold on tight. I will never get the miles out of my Venoms' I got on the Metzlers of the 1st gen, but I know why.
  22. SPRING I have had an 86 and now an 02 ..... I have had no spring..... I hope there is someone that knows for you.
  23. It NEVER EVER takes too long to polish the bike... or in my case the bikes. just saying......
  24. Stop being silly.... the cassette works fine. .. if you can find any.
