thanks for sharing, be careful on your ride... it is beautiful sunny day here so I will ride and think of you and your buddy. -
A welcome home to a local Hero...... The bus is owned by a local Independent Motorcycle Shop that offered to transport a fellow rider home. http://www.cheknews.ca/?bckey=AQ%7E%7E%2CAAAA4mHNTzE%7E%2CejlzBnGUUKY1gXVPwEwEepl35Y795rND&bclid=975107450001&bctid=2980526838001

I have seen a small black box on a harley site that plugs into the 5 pin and powers up, it bluetooth connects everything, I spoke with a fellow on a harley trike and he said it took a few tries to find a unit that worked from new but yes he had full use of cb and sound through bluetooth..... I am looking for a link to it.

Lori and I have Scala Rider sets and we love them. we have the G4 sets but...http://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/scala-rider-g9-powerset.html?gclid=CM65xJK4z7sCFQtBQgodjDUAog They are bluetooth to telephone and music/radio as well as inter-calm. We chat back and forth like we are in a room together never thinking we are in separate helmets. They do not work with Yamaha system but there is a Bluetooth adapter online available that I am told by a Harley rider works with the 5 pin set up.

from Wikipedia, In Britain,[14] Canada,[15] and some states of Australia,[16] Boxing Day is primarily known as a shopping holiday, much like Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) in the US. It is a time where shops have sales, often with dramatic price reductions. For many merchants, Boxing Day has become the day of the year with the greatest amount of returns. In the UK in 2009 it was estimated that up to 12 million shoppers appeared at the sales (a rise of almost 20% compared to 2008, although this was also affected by the fact that the VAT would revert to 17.5% from 1 January, following the temporary reduction to 15%).[17] Many retailers open very early (typically 5 am or even earlier) and offer doorbuster deals and loss leaders to draw people to their stores. It is not uncommon for long queues to form early in the morning of 26 December, hours before the opening of shops holding the big sales, especially at big-box consumer electronics retailers.[15] Many stores have a limited quantity of big draw or deeply discounted items.[18] Because of the shoulder-to-shoulder crowds, many choose to stay home and avoid the hectic shopping experience. The local media often cover the event, mentioning how early the shoppers began queueing up, providing video of shoppers queueing and later leaving with their purchased items.[19] Many retailers have implemented practices aimed at managing large numbers of shoppers. They may limit entrances, restrict the number of patrons in a store at a time, provide tickets to people at the head of the queue to guarantee them a hot ticket item or canvass queued-up shoppers to inform them of inventory limitations.[18] In recent years, retailers have expanded deals to "Boxing Week". While Boxing Day is 26 December, many retailers will run the sales for several days before or after 26 December, often up to New Year's Eve. Notably, in the recession of late 2008, a record number of retailers were holding early promotions due to a weak economy.[20] Canada's Boxing Day has often been compared with the American Super Saturday, the Saturday before Christmas.

I find it interesting, I come from a family of 11 children all but one has been married at least once, some twice. Mom had 45 grand children as well as 30 great-grand children. I have about 75 cousins. Never has one been born on Christmas day, one cousin on Christmas eve and one niece on Boxing day. Our first son was born on December 16, we never decorate until after his birthday, except the outdoor lights. to all.

1987 venture standard

I do not think you will have cruise.... my 86 did not. Maybe 87 they did. -
I have spent a lot of time in Washington State in the last couple years riding the fantastic areas down there. I have not seen everything there but I have seen a lot of beauty. I had noticed that there is a lot more "Handicap Parking" in the malls and hotels as well as on the streets than I see here at home and I have mentioned that to people I know when I return home. The thought of anyone "able bodied" parking in a designated stall and making it in the door of the building shocks me. I have seen how people with disabilities, many or most somehow related to their service time, are treated so well in public, it just shocks me that anyone even tries it. I do know of only one person that mistakenly parked in a designated stall by accident, the Blue markings were very faded and it was dark and raining to his defense, I know how embarrassed he was when he realized what he had done. I just could never believe people would do this

2nd Gen headlight
kevin-vic-b.c. replied to kevin-vic-b.c.'s topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
no it showed more green in the lens than what you liked to that showed very gold on colour. and you really did not miss anything. -
Ok I just changed my dead headlight. I have know idea what the heck that thing was that came out nor did the guy at Lordco auto parts. It was a greenish gold color and I have hated it since I bought the bike last spring. The new headlight is a PIAA Powersport Anti-Vibration bulb GT-X H4 60/55W. Much brighter. They call it Bluish Purple light and = to 135/125 watts, it is much much cleaner and brighter light. The Tech article from Freebird is perfect to follow for cracking the shell. Two things I want to mention about the job. 1.) very important, Freebird mentions in "Splitting the Fairing" about removing the chrome strip at bottom of windshield, lift the strip, the term lift may be some what confusing, someone had mine off in the past and has broken all but one of the tabs off the back. The way I see it they lifted toward themselves but it is more of a slide upward motion that is required. The Chrome strip should be slid parallel with the windshield upward to take it off correctly. 2.) accessing the bulb is tight, I undid the two bolts on the top of the assembly so the top fell forward some to get bulb in and out of the light pot. I do not have big hands and it was tight to keep from touching the bulb to anything going in. If you have a Co-pilot with small hands this is a good place to put them to work. I bought a nice long 6 mm socket type ball headed Allen tool to do the two lower bolts behind the turn signal/passing light bar. that is by far the total best way to do it. I don't think my Fairing had ever been cracked so those bolts were very tight to undo with the 3/8 ratchet. Don't think an regular Allen wrench would have done it. Just sharing what I found, I am not great with wrenching these bikes, I was nervous going in but like I said, the Tech article is great and it went smooth both ways. Snug everything nicely then go back and check them, don't over tighten into that ABS Plastic. I guess the other important thing to do is to test the light BEFORE you put it all back together to make sure it was just the light bulb. havin fun !

I put about 4,000 kilometers on the new to me second gen throughout British Columbia and Washington State. A couple or three more thousand on my V-Strom. I had a great ride in the Kootenays with Friesman although he brought the rain from the east with him. All in all it was about the best riding I had ever done. Pulled the V-Strom out today and checked it over, lubed chain and filled tires to get back out there. Just going to go crack the shell on the 2nd Gen and change the head light (burned out). should be fun. But a big thank you to Freebird for posting the how to so well for me to follow in Tech section

Spark plug R&R
kevin-vic-b.c. replied to dna9656's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
IF you have a factory tool kit and it has the plug tool in it, that is the best to use from what I found in the 3 times I changed my first gen plugs. It is a bit slower than a ratchet but works well. Take your time, and it could be worse, you could have a second gen to change plugs in.... now that is fun. -
Would you buy a Wagner Grill if they were available? (2nd Gen)

I have been there with oldest sister who was like a mother to me as well as my mother in law. Keep talking to the man you believe in and tell her you love her and thank you for the care and memories. -
Sorry to hear Steve is no longer with us. Is there any of these or other rad covers out there still? I would love anything other than the bug screen that is currently on my 02.

I will admit my $99 nuvi works well and has so far survived a few good rain storms. $700 sounds like a lot but that is what I paid for my bicycle headlight,to see where I am going not to be told where go....... If you use it enough then ok. I do like to get lost on my motorcycles often tho.

I care, I bought yours when I needed one and if I needed another I would buy yours again..... Do I need one for my 2nd generation? I do hear what you are saying. Most of us will support you first.

yes have the coffee and a healthy breakfast first, it took me an hour to figure out the first one, 10 minutes to change the other 3 then 1/2 hour to put everything back together. Make sure you get the electrical plugs tight together under the tank cover. That was my only issue after.

ok now to add to it all the power went out to the city, 54,000 homes anyway, and yes my heating plant too. Power goes out boiler goes off, everything shuts down until emergency generator kicks on then I can restart a small feed water pump, all good..... power comes back on, generators shut off..... then power drops out again.... 2 minutes... a life time in a dark steam plant..... generators come on..... feed water pump will not come on.... feed water is very important on steam boilers. Seemed like hours till power back on to stay 20 minutes later... restart everything get it all reheated.... not a good start to my shift. I wanna go home.

It could go down as the Blizzard of '13 !!!! I have heard of school closures in the outlying areas ( not safe for the school buses) The city of Victoria does not own a snow plow, but they have been real good with salt brine on the road so we are safe so far. I have to be at work in 1/2 hour to keep the heat on at the Legislature.... tho there is no government officials there. Forecast low of minus 7 Celsius.... that is so crazey I am not even going to try and convert it for our US friends to Fahrenheit.
