What level of options did you get? Is it a 2010?

Tom, Welcome to Wing world!

Thanks for the pics Lewis. It's good to see Charlene up and about!

Wingers are too busy riding to be posting! I rode in the 90 mi to work today so that's why I'm posting now. I installed a set of MBL risers on the Hbars friday and got to try them out this morning. They bring the bars back and up about 2 inches. I think I'm gonna like em!

I used to change banks on a regular basis when they ticked me off. I don't bother anymore..they all suck!

RSV vs BMW, Goldwing, and Harley Direct Comparison
royalstarjac replied to SledgeHammer's topic in Watering Hole
I have owned an RSV and currently own a GL1800. Those conclusions are suspect IMO. RSV engine performance better than Honda? I don't think soooo. Any body wanna race? -
I use Norton. It works for me.

Nice! I think Nomads have the best looking hard bags out there.

How many wings showed up at MD? I think I saw a pic of Ecks bike. Were there any others? Were any Venture riders converted?

That is a good forum for GW info but the people don't compare favorably to the folks here. If you start even the most innocuous thread it can soon turn into a flame war.

not as easy as it sounded

Use a pair of long handled pliers. Takes 5 minutes. -
Saddlebags Stuck

Dumb question maybe but they are unlocked right? Stranger things have happened. -
When I had my RSV a 4-5 second cold crank/choke without touching the throttle was about normal. On warm start up with no choke(enrichener really) and a slight twist of the throttle the bike would start right up. That is the starting procedure listed in the manual.

Yes, we get it. Motorcycling can be dangerous. I see threads like this posted on this (and other) forum and wonder why. Unless you know the person or family and are asking for prayers I really don't see the point. JMO.

I use these when I'm gonna be riding all day in place of boxers. http://www.aerostich.com/aerostich-riding-shorts.html Padding in the right spot and they keep the "boys" in their place.

Really no need to let them sit. 5 minutes should do.

Prayers sent!

Oil Level Puzzler????
royalstarjac replied to Bobby G's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Your old filter contained some old oil. When you put some in the new filter you duplicated this condition. I used to put 3 1/2 qts in the crankcase with a dry new filter. After running for a few minutes and shutting off the oil level would be halfway up the sight glass. It doesn't hurt the motor to put on a new dry filter IMO. If you can't stand to do that, take 3 1/2 qts, fill the new filter and put the rest in the crankcase. Also, I think the oil drains out better on the sidestand due to the location of the drain plug. I always changed my oil with the bike supported by the sidestand. -
Isn't road side assistance part of the warranty?
-
Congrats and welcome to the fold! What year/color/level did you get?
-
I use one on the wing and it's great. You can trim it down for a better fit.
-
I use a craftsman mc jack. No need for an adaptor or wood blocks like an RSV. To remove the front wheel, I put it on the center stand then use the jack to tip it back on the rear tire.

Really close call with a deer tonight
royalstarjac replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
Saw 3 deer in differant spots this morning coming to work. I leave at 4am so it is still full dark. The state has decided they don't have the money to mow the medians or shoulders so the grass is waist high on both sides. I spend more time scanning the shoulders than watching the road. I called the DOT last year to complain and the guy said it wasn't a "safety issue". I told him it is if you ride a motorcycle at night!
