We rode the "Million Dollar Highway" yesterday
royalstarjac replied to Midrsv's topic in Watering Hole
Great pics, thanks! That ride is on my to do list for sure! I vote for Durango for a VR rally! -
Judging from these comments I can tell you've never ridden a GL1800. Ride one for a day on some twisty roads and then come back and tell me it's not a motorcycle. With a straight face that is!

Oh Canada!

Those UPS trucks run that road twice a day to and from their terminal in Gainesville. Familiararity with the road means a lot. If you're riding to the limits of traction on an unfamiliar road there is no room for error or the unexpected like a wind gust. The article mentioned 30 mph winds. The GW has a large fairing and side profile and an unexpected cross gust in the midst of a sharp curve can get hairy.

Front brake noise
royalstarjac replied to BigBear's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yes you can put them in backwards. It's easy to do if you're not paying attention. Don't ask me how I know. -
Glad it wasn't worse. Prayers sent for a full recovery!

Try Buckeye Performance. http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/

Eck, you need to get a patent on those. Trouble is, if you're like me you signed a patent agreement with your company so I guess you'd have to get it in your wifes name. BTW where did you get the knob for your gas door?

Nearly every bike needs adjustments. On my RSV I needed a Utopia back rest, hiway pegs, Flanders G2 hbars. Total about $800 with the longer braided lines. On the Wing I added hbar risers. $70. A walmart gel seat pad $19.95 The bike already had hiway pegs mounted and floorboards w/heel toe shifter. You can make just about any bike fit you with the right accesories.

Rule #1. PICS!

It's nice to have a back up bike no matter what you ride!

Andrews NC is centrally located for NC, TN and NGA

It's a big bike, it's summer time, it's gonna get hot. There's not much you can do while sitting still in traffic but deal with it. Shorts? NOT!

Todd, Is there any way you can find where it broke and use a vise grip to hold the ends together temporarily to get you home? You might have to cut away the sheathing. That's an old Harley riders trick.

Todd, If your in Lancaster SC here is the # of a motorcycle dealer Team carolina powersports 1200 Highway 9 Bypass West, Lancaster, SC - (803) 285-5893 - Sorry, that's all the help I can be from here. Good luck!

That's a good price. Personally, I wouldn't buy one without ABS. ABS is what drove me to the GW in the first place though even without ABS the brakes on the GW are night and day better than the RSV.

Aviation buffs cool pics of Edwards show
royalstarjac replied to royalstarjac's topic in Watering Hole
Bumping this for those that missed it. These are the best pics I've seen of a huge array of military aircraft, many of them one of a kind. Oh, there are explosions too! -

I just installed a set of MBL handlebar risers on the wing. They bring the grips up and back. I got the wide riser set. http://wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail/206_MBL_Risers/2361_GL1800_Handlebar_Risers_MBL_Risers_Standard_or/ They were relatively easy to install and make a big difference. I was getting a stabbing pain at the base of my neck between the shoulders:starz: and they seem to have solved that. I had the same issue with my RSV and put on a set of Flanders G2 bars and braided stainless lines at a cost of about $500. The MBL risers were $69 from wingstuff and I got free shipping that they were offering for a limited time.
