  1. I have no doubt modulators raise the visibility level at least 5 fold. That is their purpose. What possible provision can be made for someone who sees the motorcycle and STILL PULLS OUT? Unfortunately modulators don't instantly raise the IQ of cagers. They are not fool proof. You still have to ride like the cagers are out to kill you....because they are.-Jack
  2. Congrats on the new bike! Welcome to the Black and Blue club. Have fun and ride safe!
  3. Thanks for the update Jeff. So sorry about the loss of your mom. Please let your dad know he has a lot of folks praying for him daily.-Jack
  4. Yes and please I don't want to hear anything about how rough she's gonna have it "living with this for the rest of her life". At least she is living while someone else is dead, apparently through her negligence.-Jack
  5. I found this link. http://www.cantonrep.com/index.php?ID=381942&Category=9&subCategoryID=0
  6. I haven't met them but I'm very saddened at this loss in our family. Our prayers go out to everyone involved.-Jack
  7. Congrats on the new bike! Enjoy!-Jack:cool10:
  8. The nearest storm drain. Haaahaaaahaa!:rotf::rotf: Just kidding!-Jack
  9. Using this sort of logic could get motorcycling as a whole outlawed. We go down a dangerous path when we start passing laws to protect people from themselves or for the "cost to society". JMO.-Jack
  10. A lot of folks go to a state like Florida and decide to ride w/out a helmet cause they can't do it at home. What many don't realize is if they're hurt in a wreck their insurance may not cover them cause they agree to abide by the laws of their state of residence. A technicality yes but that's how ins. cos. make their living.-Jack
  11. Yes it can be a handful standing the bike up with the better half already mounted, especially when even at a slight downward angle. I turn the handle bars all the way to the left and use both arms to haul it up. I also put my left thigh against the tank and give a light shove at the same time. Works pretty good. If we're at too much of an angle I get on first and stand the bike up before she gets on as has been mentioned. I have dropped my RSV twice, both times at slow speeds with the wife on the back, both times trying to start and turn sharply at the same time. It's a handfull but once you get the hang of it you can ride anything!-Jack
  12. Looks pretty cheezy to me. I hope you've got some fire proof underwear:225::rotf:. Buy it and let us know. I just bought an electric vest from Aerostitch today for $149. Maybe I overspent but it's satifaction gauruntteed for 2 yrs.-Jack
  13. This site is great because you walk into the dealer armed with facts and end up explaining things to them instead of depending on them for your info. A lot of small dealers don't see many RSV's or RSTD's. The ones they do see mostly are for routine maintenance and they're not familiar with the few issues some of these bikes have. One of the factors in my decision to buy Yamaha was the excellent rep my local dealer has in the area. Blue Ridge Yamaha in Blue Ridge Ga. So far I haven't been disapointed.-Jack
  14. I've noticed on some of the tv shows like American Thunder they talk about spending thousand$ to bring the engines "close to 100 hp". The Venture has 98 out of the box for thousand$ less than a stock HD. List on an 08 CVO Ultra is $34,999! -Jack
  15. Why are you still using OLD technology on this bike? Why have you not gone to Fuel Injection on the Venture? Why still a cassette player and not a CD? Do you still buy cassettes?????????????? Why no tachometer? Other gauges?????? Why don't you take a look at a Harley dash on their touring bikes? CD Player on current and pre 2007 bikes. Built in tachometer, temp gauge, oil gauge, battery gauge, etc. NO DUMMY LIGHTS that only come on when it is too late!!!!! It seems a little late to be complaining about these issues since you knew about them before you purchased the bike.
  16. Maybe because they know us Yanks take better care of our bikes!-Jack
  17. I try to reduce the risk as much as I can by being smart and careful. I refuse to let fear keep me from living life. You can "what if" yourself right into old age, never experiencing anything if your not careful. A good dose of denial and believing "it won't happen to me" doesn't hurt either.-Jack
  18. One way to get rid of the whine is to get rid of the Brickstone tire on the rear. I just changed to a Dunlop after 6k mi and the difference is unreal!-Jack
  19. Good luck and ride safe mate!-Jack
  20. This is terrible news. Prayers to the family. If you read the article, scroll down and read the comments left by friends and family.-Jack
  21. Anyone know if there is a plug and play cd replacement for the cassette in a 2nd gen?-Jack
  22. Yes, I have a major problem with my 07! I can't stay off of it! 6k mi since June. It's in the shop today getting a new Dunlop to replace the worn out Bridgestone on the back.-Jack
  23. When you say best over all are taking price into consideration? You can do the RK's for $50-$100 max.-Jack
  24. My 97 RSTC isn't as loud as my 07 RSV. I don't know if it has straight cut gears or not. Also I think the fairings and tall windshield on the RSV tend to direct more noise into the cockpit area. I had some high pitched whine on the 07 but after 5k miles it seems to have gotten better. Either that or I've just gotten used to it. As for the topic of this thread, YES. I would buy the same bike for the same price!-Jack
  25. I'm glad to hear you were'nt badly hurt. Bikes can be replaced.-Jack
