A couple of years ago someone was charging on my AMEX account and ran up over $20k from online merchants from Europe to Singapore. AMEX took care of it but it was pain for a few months. DT

The 3" diameter would be better. I would prefer it to be bit bigger than the 2". Once you have it mounted you'll find that the bike runs much better. I did. Before the tach I thought I was really cranking the engine up then shifting. After getting the tach I realized I was shifting at about 5000 to 5500 rpm and once I found that that I could wind it up a little tighter the engine really pulled strong. DT

On my RSV I rarely get above 35 to 37 MPG and a lot of times I'm in the 32 MPG range and that is with a speedohealer corrected odometer. I ride with Gold Wings and Harleys and they all get much better mileage. I typically use at least 1/2 gallon more at fillups, with or without wind. If you are running a RSTD or RSV without a corrected odometer/speedometer you should keep in mind that you are actually getting 7% to 8% less mpg than you think. DT PS. Last summer riding across Kansas in the wind I got down to about 22 mpg and it was brutal.

If any of you big guys need a jacket, I just placed a Fieldsheer High Temp 4XL jacket on Ebay, item number 120409437170. It is a mesh jacket that has very good air flow in warm temperatures and has a warm, waterproof liner that can also be worn alone as a jacket. With the liner in it is very comfortable down into the 20's. The jacket is in perfect condition and has been used very little. Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Fieldsheer-High-Temp-Mesh-Motorcycle-Jacket-4XL_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem120409437170QQitemZ120409437170QQptZApparelQ5fMerchandise

The only problem I find when starting in gear is in the winter when the bike is cold and I start it for the first time in the morning it will lurch forward even with the clutch pulled in. I guess the cold oil has enough drag that when it initially cranks it moves the gears somewhat. So I make it a habit of starting a cold bike in the winter in neutral. I don't worry about it any other time. DT

If you haven't heard of Susan Boyle yet you probably will. This is a clip from Britains got talent. I guess this is their American Idol. I think even Simon was surprised. It's worth the 7 minutes to watch it. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnmbJzH93NU]YouTube - Full Version. Win Susan Win. I ordered the tach with the reservoir mount. You replace the original cap with the chrome base. Here is a link to the cap. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?Category_ID=116&manufacturer_ID=167&product_ID=19841&sblid_name=Baron_Custom_Accessories_Brake___Master_Cylinder_Mount_for_Sub_Sonic_Tach___Honda_Yamaha_Models_for_Honda_Shadow_VLX_600&model_id=0 Dennis

I agree Eck. When I crashed a couple of years ago my helmet cracked a windshield. Without it I would say the windshield would have faired better against my head and I wouldn't be here to talk about it. DT
-
I don't leave my driveway without a helmet on my head. This evening I needed to make a quick run to Target so I got on the bike as usual, put the helmet on, started the engine and began to back out of the garage when something started banging on my head. I stopped immediately and thougth "what the He**". Apparently when I moved the bars I accidently hit the garage door opener on my key ring and the door came down on top of my head. It quickly reversed and no harm done. I started laughing so hard I could hardly ride thinking of what this must have looked like to the neighbors. I phoned my wife while on the way to Target and she got a good laugh from it as well. Always wear you helmet. You never know what perils lie ahead. DT

Now you've got me reconsidering my last post. Does anyone know if the 4 dial gauge set can be calibrated? DT
-
I like the sound of being able to calibrate prior to synching. I'm buying a motion pro unit. Dennit
-
I would be interested in your results. I would like to add that my carbtune has only been used 5 or 6 times. DT
-
I don't think so. I kept the same hose on each carb and moved it from one gauge tube to the next. Had there been a blockage it should have still read consisitently across the gauge. DT
-
Last weekend I decided to synch my carbs again, it's been a few months. I hooked the carbtune up and the carbs were pretty close but I had to adjust one to get them perfect. After that I decided to switch the connection tube around at the top of the carbtune. They were out of synch agian. So I started experimenting with the different tubes. Took one carb tube and moved it through all four positions and found a different reading at each position. So I kept making adjustments based on a single gauge position until I had the same reading from each carb at that one gauge position. Then reconnected all four and there was some variance between the gauge tubes. Has anyone else experienced this? DT

Yep, mine are cracked too. I'll take a set of smoked color. You've got money in your Paypal acct. Thanks, Dennis

Rick, I'm interested in the modification. I'm riding up from KY on Saturday morning so it will probably be noon before I get there. Dennis

Yes, that is a problem. That's why I don't buy music from Itunes. I buy mine from Amazon in standard MP3 format. DT

I was strolling around our local Sam's Club today and I noticed rain suits that looked like Frogg Toggs. They had some sort of reptile type logo and indicated that they were a Sam's exclusive item. They looked like Frogg Toggs and felt like Frogg Toggs and I am speculating that they were made by Frogg Toggs. The suits with a stuff sack were about $26. A pretty decent deal if you need a rain suit. They had them in grey, blue, green and tan. Personally I wear the FroggToggs Road Toads. DT

Thanks for the feedback. I wondered how biker friendly Charleston would be. If you can't park in a public garage where do you park? Dennis
