Guys have a look at Mic-Mutes.......well worth the money IMHO...I found without them the wind noise was very annoying to say the least. http://mic-mutes.com/ Keith From what I can see the mic-mutes turns the intercom into a push to talk system. Where would the push button be? Is the wiring the same on the 1st gen as it is on the 2nd gen? I can see this being of interest. Wayne

Is there someone close to you with a 1st gen so that you can try your radio in their bike and vise versa? I have a problem with mine and sound only comes out of one side. I've determined that the cassette and radio on the top are not the problem so it has to be the main unit inside the fairing or a broken wire somewhere. Marcarl let me put mine in his bike and it worked fine. His in my bike did the same thing.

REZ: I just noticed you are in Stoney Creek which is very close to me (Caledonia) maybe we can get a deal if we order together. Sierra offers free shipping on orders over $199.00 and I have another friend ordering as well so that would save a couple of bucks and give us an excuse to get together and talk about stuff as well as plan future rides. I'm looking at the exact same thing. I have an 84 VR and have a CB out of a 90 on it's way. I ride double 98% of the time (My wife loves riding as much as I do which means I am very blessed). Communications between us is important and with other riders in the group is important. I have a half helmet so I'm guessing I'll be in the market for a 3/4 helmet as well. The problem with Wingstuff is that they will only ship UPS which is a major rippoff coming over the boarder. They burn us for lots of $$ on brokerage fees. If Wingstuff would ship USPS I would buy there as well. Apparently http://www.sierra-mc.com/products.asp?cat=314 has the same sets for $68.00 and will ship USPS so it is cheaper there. Someone awhile ago found them for $59.00 somewhere else but I can't find that thread. Sierra also sells a set of wires that plug into the radio and then the headsets plug into these wires. If the bike dosn't have them on it they cost about $60 as well. Is this (and it sounds like it is) the best deal out there?

Brad and Lonna: I'm very sorry to hear about your accident. Bummer that the scoot is gone but good news that you two are going to be OK. God be with you and we are going to be praying for a speedy recovery. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you. Wayne & Robin

Carl and I thought it would be nice to be trapped in a cage for a few hours yesterday so off we went and awhile later we were on the 401 passing London. THEN low and behold not too much later we found ourselves in Windsor. Hmmm .. Somebody we know in Windsor would be in for sure so we headed for the hospital and spent some time with GaryN. Unfortuneatly we ungraciously had to wake him (it was almost noon by then). Once he shook out the cobwebs he was happy to see us and we had a few chuckles talking about bikes and camping and motorhomes etc.. while munching on alcholic chocolate. Good Times!! He is feeling much better and is in Rehab to get his strength built up. Walking is still a little wobbly but getting better all the time. Spirits are improving and he is even considering getting another bike. Maybe not this year depending on his recovery. He loves having visitors and is very happy with the VR family that is showing so much support. GOOD ON YA!! Wayne Oh yeah .. we didn't forget the rule about pictures...

Thanks Rocket. This is exactly what I needed to know. I cannot deal with Wingstuff because of their policy of only shipping UPS. Sierra seems to be the way to go for us north of the border. That wire kit looks like the ticket. Wayne

I know some of you guys have done this already so I'm hoping you can give me some help here. I am going to break down and get head sets for the scoot. 84 blonde royale. So it has the intercom built in but I have nothing to plug into. I'm also looking to get a CB as soon as I can find a good one. The J & M headsets look good. Question is what do I need to get besides the headsets. I know I need some more cords and where to they plug in? Wayne

Waving can be dangerous!! I got my 84 blonde about a year ago and couldn't ride till spring. It was being stored at a friend's house because he had more room and a heated space for it. Along comes the first really nice day. The forcast is for a GREAT weekend so I phone my friend and tell him I'm coming to get the scoot for the weekend. He says he'll come and get me on his Wing. Now I'm about as high as I can get and very excited. Get the baby purring and start heading home. I live in Caledonia Ontario. There is a river running through town and it is a small town. At this time because of a Native occupation there are what seems like 100 OPP officers in and around town at any given moment. Anyhow I come to the road by the river and make a left. A short distance along this road which follows the river is a park and a parking lot. There is a bike with a couple on it coming out of the parking lot. They waved and I waved back with a big idiot grin on my face. It was soooo good. Until...... I looked back a the road in front of me which had made a small bend to the left without telling me. I looked just in time to see the curb a foot from my front tire. Hit the curb at an angle and down we went. I rolled about 40' in the grass. Actually God was looking after me because I didn't get hurt. A few minor scratches and a bruise or two is all. My scoot was a mess. I was just sitting up and there were a dozen people standing around and I heard sirens. Within seconds there were two cruisers and four officers hanging around as well. By the time we had the bike standing up my phone rang. It was my wife and she wanted to know if I was alright. (small towns hmmm). The Officers wanted to see my ID which I didn't have with me. (was in my wallet in my cage). I was able to drive the scoot home and they followed me. My friend with the wing came with his van and picked up the broken plastic. Young officer wanted to charge me but the older officer stood on him and they let me go. I'm a LOT more careful now when I wave. BUT I STILL WAVE!!! at anyone that will wave back including and especially kids looking out the back or side window of a cage.

My wife gave me the $ to get a set of headsets for the scoot. Going for the J&M I guess. Just need to figure out where from. NOT from wingstuff because of UPS shipping. Daughter ordered Kuriakyn hiway peg extensions for me as well. Awsome Christmas shared with family and friends. Wayne

Paint matching
Wizard765 replied to Big Daddy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Mother sent me this link http://www.venturerider.org/paint/PaintChartRef___00001.html It has the paint codes for all the older bikes. -
Thank you for that.. It sort of puts the whole "Why Christmas is here" into perspective. Well done.

In our neck of the wooks we have more snow on the ground right now than we have had in many years before Christmas. Yes cabin fever is setting in already. I intended to move my scoot to Marcarls for some loving care over the winter and have been waiting for a reasonable day to do that. Didn't expect the blizzard. It appears we may be socked in for a few months to say the least. Wayne

Not yet Don but I'm sure they will be here soon. There is always a lag time coming over the border. Ususally up to a week. I'm very much looking forward to this. Thanks so much for all you do. Wayne

I'm so jealous. I guess we don't get to see ours till the border people are done playing with them. Maybe they will like them enough to order their own...

DON: You're the BEST!! Thanks! Wayne

REAL!! For many years as the girls were growing up we went as a family to a tree farm and cut down our tree then had apple cider and signed the wallboard. Next year the girls would look for their signatures and we'd do it all again. We also had a tradition of getting each other a special ornament as a stocking stuffer so the tree has something for every year. Actually got a little cluttered so some of them don't make it out of the box any more but will be handed down when the girls get their own homes. This makes each tree very special. Now we are buying trees already cut because of the girls being somewhat grown (21 & 22) and not always home (University or working). We stil like the look and smell of a real tree. Wayne

RRIGHT ON DON!!! I've only been on here for awhile but already it has become a part of my life that I would not wish to give up. I check here as often as I check my email. I don't have a lot to say yet but occassionally I will give my 2 cents worth. NEVER would I consider intentionally aggrivating someone. Please keep up the good work and I would fully support giving the boot to anyone that cannot tow the line. This is an adult community and as such most people here are acting like adults but unfortunatly sometimes when there are a lot of people involved you run into a few that are not and need to be treated like the children they are. Quality is always much better than quantity. Thank you so much for this place. Wayne

Is there much of a difference between the Garmin 450 and 550 besides cost?

Hi Ken: I have a friend looking for a 1st gen and he happens to be in Florida for the winter. It would be awsome if you could check that out for me and I'll pass it along to him. He dosn't use a computer at all so I do the looking for him. Thanks for volunteering to do this. Wayne

It seems to be a recurring theme here. I also had a long dry spell of 20+ years. (Kids came along) This past summer has been the first of many to come back in the saddle. Every time I look at the scoot I think about how blessed I am that my wife loves riding as much (maybe more) as I do. There are times when I’m in the dungeon and she comes down to haul me out for a ride. I LOVE it!! Steve you are a lucky man. Count your blessings. Wayne
