My guess is he is talking about this one. http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/battery-tender-digital-voltage-meter

I also installed the Ricks about 2 summers ago and it has been flawless since. I don't believe mine was the HO. To get it in I had to loosen the exhaust on that side to drop it a little to get it out of the way. Biggest challenge was finding the plug under the drivers seat that the darn thing plugs into.. Probably spent more time finding that plug than actually changing the stator
-
yeah I run across that all the time.. for some reason the MM comes up as a different breed but rest assured the stator is the same as well as almost every part. Other than a few logos such as the hinges on the bags and the speedo as well as the small plaque on the trunk there is no real difference. The hinges and speedo (dash) are only different in that they actually say Millennium Edition

That one looks like the one out of Quebec and I would NOT recommend it but it's hard to tell for sure because they are not saying what make it is. I would recommend the Rick's. I know I don't want to do it twice.. a bit of a job changing out the stator. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ricks-Electric-Stator-Yamaha-XVZ1300TF-1999-2004-XVZ1300TFM-2002-2005-/291362861124?hash=item43d6947044:g:C4IAAOSwm8VUwueN&vxp=mtr

Looking for speaker grill 2000 MM
Wizard765 replied to Wortheim's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Dave: I sent you a PM. If you cannot find an MM grill then get one from any year.. and have it painted. Due to my Brother in Law dropping my MM into a plowed field last spring my big project this winter is to get all the scratched items repainted. The guy I have painting it has a pretty much perfect match for the Pearl White using the codes from this site. I could just throw your grill in with my stuff and I don't believe the cost would go up at all for such a small item.. Your cost would be shipping both ways plus whatever you paid for the grill Wayne -

I really like this one but might be harder to install -
When I carpeted the inside of my home built trailer I just bought a small tub of carpet glue. fairly thick stuff so it won't drip and turns rubber like when it drys so is flexible. Not a bad working time either.. like this stuff http://www.homedepot.com/p/Roberts-3095-1-gal-Superior-Fast-Grab-Carpet-Glue-Adhesive-3095-1/202329533

need new body pieces
Wizard765 replied to zoomjay's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The side panels will fit. not sure what you mean by the "lip" but if you mean the chin in front of the rad at the bottom then the mk1s did not come with those. If you mean the small piece that connects the lower fairings together then yes they are the same.. BUT if you are somewhat patient you may come up with the right pieces from the same year in the same color so as not to need to paint.. eBay has these all the time -
Speedometer reset cover
Wizard765 replied to KISA's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The rubber bulb off that eye dropper just might do the trick.. just gotta find one the right size.. That looks very close -
I found the seat on the 84 amazing.. my wife still says the 84 was more comfy than the MM we have now..

Speedometer reset cover
Wizard765 replied to KISA's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I've seen one replaced with the rubber bulb off an eye dropper or liquid drug dispenser -
I turned my 84 gold into an 85 gold by getting the trunk from an 87 and the hardware from an 85 so I wound up with the larger trunk in Gold AND still had the ability to remove it.. Loved the xtra storage space of the larger trunk.. If you are thinking of replacing tweaks at some point you will be very happy with an 85

yesterday a friend and I did this ride http://www.cannonball500.ca/ontario-ride.php It was 500 Kms in 7.5 hrs. through some of the nicest Ontario has to offer.. Anyhow add to that our getting to and from the starting point it turned into a 905 Kms day for us... AWESOME ride and a great time. Weather was pretty much perfect and it looked like a lot of bikes participated. We got done the ride with 10 minutes to spare so I feel good about that and I actually felt good at the end of the day. Was expecting to be stiff or sore but it was no problem at all. We really booked it most of the day and only stopped for gas twice (very quick less than 10 minutes per) and lunch was about 15 minutes..(Pizza Slice) because it was fast.. Had no time for pictures... I know ya'll are gonna say it didn't happen.. LOL I would do this again in a minute.. in fact I'd do it today if there was one and I wasn't working..

Could you take the shield off and tape across where you want the black to start then spray it on the inside with black paint? I agree the bottom would be better blacked out.. Also hard to get between the vent and the dash to clean so once you get water spots in there it is difficult at best to get rid of them.. not in the way or anything just than you can see them..
-
I had the largest Clearview and now have the largest F4. I cannot see over the shield at all but that has never been a problem. the extra height and width extends the "pocket" past my wife and she is a happy camper which means she is more inclined to ride with me which makes ME a happy camper.. all it all either the Clearview or F4 with vent.. At backroad speeds no difference in mpg but on the slab at higher speeds it uses a little more. I find no difference in handling between stock and the F4 unless there is a cross wind or I'm directly behind a rig.. I can feel those maybe a little more... The F4 allows water to just bead up and run off.. but the clearview I use to wax when I cleaned the bike and it also beaded up and ran off. the clearview is a little more sloped while the F4 sits somewhat more straight up..
-
The left side is easy.. It is more or less just glued on and all I did was grip it well and a heavy twist.. it came loose and slid off. The right side is somewhat different depending on if you bought grips with the sleeve or without the sleeve. With the sleeve you have to loosen the throttle cables to get the ends out. Without the sleeve the air gun trick might be the best approach to get the old grip off the stock sleeve..

How far have you driven on Reserve Fuel?
Wizard765 replied to Du-Rron's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yesterday went 55 Kms on the yellow light.. but probably about 15 Kms of that before she started sputtering and had to switch to reserve.. Most I've pushed it is 60 Kms When my light comes on the guage is still showing a bar..
