  1. George: At the risk of sounding really stupid.. What is an IPC?
  2. Ok a couple of weeks to when we leave for the ralley. On the way to church this morning I lost 1st gear. 84 VR. Starts in neutral and goes up to 2nd and 3rd no problem. Most of the time goes to 4th ok as well and 5th is Ok. Once in awhile 4th is missing too. I shift back down and up again to get it. Was working fine and this happened all of a sudden. I replaced the stator in the spring and had the shifter off to do that but it's worked fine for 6,000 Kms since then so I don't believe that is the problem. So question is what could be causing this and what is the solution? Do I have to remove the engine and split the case? HELP!!!! Wayne
  3. Well it's looking like a GREAT day ahead. Clear sky and moderate temps.. Looking forward to riding..
  4. Hey Bob: Charlie is a long ways away for a day trip. If we were leaving here a few hours earlier we could meet him somewhere around Barrie or the Muskokas but that would be rather difficult in an afternoon. Now we could maybe make it to Orangeville if Charlie wanted to come down that far. Wayne
  5. Hey Bob: Robin and I are planning on riding after church. Probably leaving our place around 1:00. You could join us or we could meet you somewhere and incorporate that into our ride. No route written in stone as of yet... Might have a few others with us as well. Anyone else that wants to tag along is more than welcome... Wayne
  6. When you are in Mapquest and have a route planned (won't be there till you have a route)you can go to the top of the page. There is a pulldown button for "send to" (as well as print and save) and the bottom choice is GPS. The first time you will have to follow the link and download the garmin converter program. A window will pop up with that choice and a link to get it. Wayne
  7. Carl and I took mine apart and cleaned it really well then loaded it up with dielectric grease. It was easier to get apart after I got it off the handlebar by taking the top part of the handlebar apart and then slipping the whole thing off the end of the bar. While I was in there I also cleaned and greased the kill switch. Not difficult but be careful. There is a small bearing behind a spring loaded clip. Wayne
  8. Yep me too... Corvair.. Corsa with 4 carbs & 4 spd Stick. Was a quick little puppy. Had lots of fun with that car. Lots of traction. Fun to race with because of the weight in the back it took off instead of smoking the tires. Surprised lots of people. One time was racing a Cougar and had him beat too but all my idiot lights came on. Had to stop and pull over. Wait for it to cool down and put the fan belt back on. Yep those were the days.. lots of fun. Pretty stupid too but hey... Wayne
  9. PB&J: I have a set I took off my 84. They are not in perfect condition. One side is excellent but the other side the chrome is starting to bubble a little right at the end where it tapers down narrow. If you had those slip on down turns they would cover the bubbled part. You can have them for the cost of shipping. I put 88 mufflers on mine because I also put the passenger floorboards etc from the 88 and the mounting is somewhat different. Wayne
  10. Bob I think you will have to give us more to go on if you want us to guess
  11. Sooooooooo BongoBobny thinks the back of my trailer looks like Wall-e when the lights are missing. hmmmmm
  12. Yep yep yep... Twas a fun and productive day. Riding would have been funner but bad backs and the weatherman didn't co-operate. Wayne
  13. Thanks guys.. That's what I wanted to know... now.. hmmmm decision time..
  14. I don' have an 87 (mines an 84) BUT those springs could be at the very back, top and side where your knees would be sitting on the bike. They would stop the side panels from rattling once they are snapped into place. That is the only place I remember seeing springs. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Wayne
  15. This is AWSOME news... congrats on your new scoot AGAIN!!
  16. Hi guys n gals: I'm thinking of getting the Zumo 550 and am also considering an iPhone. Has anyone got this combo? Does the iPhone Bluetooth sync up with the Zumo? Can you answer a call if you need to? Wayne
  17. Soooooo Did you get it...? Did ya? Did ya? eh?
  18. I agree. We are still available for the ride BUT the forcast is not so good... play it by ear. Wayne
  19. soooo I would install these Caps inline on the power supply to the radio, CB or whatever I wanted the clean up? AND do they come in different sizes etc. What size do I need or what sort of markings am I looking for?
  20. Ok guys at the risk of sounding less than inteligent... what is an Electrolytic Cap? Where do I get such an animal? Wayne
  21. Gearhead: Yes it sounds the same as yours. I've been experimenting. The volume of the noise only goes up and down with the volume of the intercom. If I turn the intercom down so that I cannot hear the static noise I can turn the radio or the CB up and things are fine. The problem is that I ride 2Up almost all the time and the communication is the most important part of the radio for us. Bob: I still have not "fixed" it yet and I may take you up on that offer. Would not be till next week sometime due to Wednesday being a holiday here and the weather is not looking so good at the moment either. Wayne
  22. The weather can be a problem. IF the weather changes and it turns out better than it looks at the moment then we will be meeting at Marcarl's. I believe the plan is to be there and ready to ride at 10:00 am. His place is between Brantford and Burford on Hwy 53. If you are heading south on Hwy 24 you would turn right on Hwy53 and it is about a KM on the right. Carl's Choice Meats. Sign right at the road you can't miss.
  23. Thanks GeorgeS. Yes I got the filter with the CB. I bought pretty much the whole package from a 90 at the time. I will go through that diagram today. Thanks for the page number. Marcarl: Thanks for the phone call this morning. Between you and George I now have some things to work on. Hopefully something will work. Wayne
  24. here we go with another problem... man you folks are patient. Anyhow I've got a lot of static in my headsets. Enough that we don't want to use them. It is engine noise because it changes with the rpm of the engine. I have an 84 which did not come with a C/B and have fitted one from a 90. What I'm hearing is the Mark II's have a noise filter. I have one that I picked up but cannot find anywhere that it plugs in. So the question is.. Where does it plug in. Maybe my bike is missing that plug in the harness. Is there a diagram that I could follow to wire this up somehow. I'm running out of ideas. I pulled all the wires out of the bike and ran them across the top to eliminate the proximity to high tension wires. No help. I pulled the stator wires out and got them away from the frame. Didn't help. I'm really hoping a filter will help. OK guys and gals... I'm hoping someone out there can help me get this figured out. Wayne
  25. OK: So it looks like we are going to take advantage of the holiday on Wednesday and make a day of it. We will be meeting at Marcarl's house and heading out for most of the day. I'd encourage anyone wishing to share the adventure to come along. It's gonna be a fun day. Jopie ... how about you and Mary for this one?? The following week will be back to Tuesday evenings.... weather permitting. Wayne
