Wow.. that would have taken way too much time to put together. I wonder how many dry runs they had to do before it actually worked..

Hey Tom & Taters: I'm sorry to hear about this. I went and hugged my little guy. He is 12 and in great shape but you never know and I know when the time comes we will miss him dearly... I bet the place feels empty when you come home... Wayne

This unit does everything the Zumo does except waterproof (baggie works well) and is $220.00. MP3, Bluetooth, FM Traffic, Routes (10), Programmable, Sunlight readable, Card Reader, Picture viewer, Lane assist, Detour .. the works... Ram-Mount available. Just my Opinion... Wayne

yep yep yep!!! They came a couple of days ago. Thanks Tom!! Looking forward to using them. Wayne

Ok I guess I have to disagree on a point with you Ben.. I was listening to 95.3 as well because I sort of liked the "new country" they were playing BUT now they are called Vinyl 95 (you can guess what they are playing) and I really like it. In fact I can sing along to almost any song they play. I only do that when alone in the car because I don't want to hurt anyone's hearing. I think they played 1 song last week that I didn't know. I do agree there are no local country stations in this area now. BUT they were losing advertisers and starting to lose money. Unfortuneatly in this area Country isn't very popular. Wayne

at least 2 or 3 times a day unless I'm away and don't have access. I don't post a lot but I read and enjoy. Love this place and the folks I've met either in person or just on here. I guess it could be an addiction but not one I'll be complaining about. Wayne

De-linking brakes idea for 83

Earl: Is there a similar solution for the Mk1? Do you have a set of SS lines that will fit an 84? Is there a replacement for the calipers? Wayne -
Yes you can hard wire it. You can get the hardwire adapter here http://www.mountguys.com/product_p/z-mfx-10747-b.htm Yes you can use your bluetooth phone with it and if you get a BuddyRich cable adapter it will integrate with headsets on your scoot. The mic input is in the cradle and the headset output is on the side of the unit. Wayne

Ok: I have a 785T which is exactly the same as the 765T except for how it does traffic. I sent your mapquest route to my unit and it comes out exactly like it is in Mapquest. So the end result is that you can use Mapquest or Google Maps or the Garmin product MapSource and I'm guessing some other products as well to generate a route then upload it. I've always used the MapSource product from Garmin. I have in the past used Microsoft Streets and Trips which can also be imported into Garmin. I can also share those routes with anyone that has a route capable garmin. Personally the route feature is the major reason I have a GPS for the bike. BTW the 765T is a better deal than the 785T. Both are excellent but there is a fee for MSN Traffic (785T) and FM Traffice (765T) is free and the 765T is at least $50 cheaper. Wayne

The Nuvi 765T is fairly inexpensive (less than $279) and has all the same features as the zumo except waterproof. It handles routes (10) easily uploaded. Bluetooth widescreen and free FM traffic. Also the screen is sunlight readable.

I'm in for a couple as well (black). I actually like the cotton better than the nylon blend. It is softer and wicks moisture better,,, Wayne

Mines an 84 Royale with 94,000 Kms. Runs like new.

This is soooo cool. Sit back and enjoy it and then the next time click on the images. Hard to believe this was all in our lifetime. I must be old because I recognize or have heard of most of them. Whether you are a Billy Joel fan or not, you probably remember his great song, 'We Didn't Start the Fire.' Here it is, set to pictures... very, very cool. Had to share this one. It's a neat flashback through the past half century. I never did know all the words. Turn up your volume, sit back, and enjoy a review of 50 years of history in less than 3 minutes! Thanks to Billy Joel and some guy from the University of Chicago with a lot of spare time and Google. Top left gives you full screen....top right lets you pause. Bottom left shows the year. The older you are, the more pictures you will recognize. http://yeli.us/Flash/Fire.html

Funny how that works.. This year in fact on the way home from the International. Last day of the journey we left Coldwater Michigan at 8:30 am in a downpour that didn't stop all the way home (I think it followed us). Riding 2 up with a trailer. Home (Caledonia Ontario) was in sight by 5:30 pm. Twas a long day but we were dressed for it and only had to stop a couple of times because it was raining too hard to see where we were going. These sorts of things just give you more to talk about and make the trips more "interesting" Wayne

Every board I've seen lately is set up for SATA but every one of them has at least 1 IDE channel which will run 1 or 2 drives. Some boards give you an F key which allows you to choose a boot sequence. Those that don't you could just change the sequence in the BIOS. Anyhow you should be able to do what you want to do with almost any board out there at the moment.

HEY... I heard that!!!

I'm curious about the minimum requirements of Windows 7 VS XP. Netbooks come with XP because they don't have the power or requirements to run Vista effectively. It may not be a good idea to go to Windows 7 unless there is enough Ram and processing power to run it without a big drop in performance. Wayne

What THEY said and then some :clap2::clap2:

Earl: I noticed that you mounted this on the right side. IF you were to mount it on the left side then you could use a metric right hand thread bolt and wouldn't have to drill and tap the existing hole. The right side one is a left hand thread but the left hand side is a right hand thread. Anyhow I really like your mount. What would you charge me for just the ball with thread sticking out of it? I could make the rest. Wayne

Don: I think right now the best unit and bang for the buck is the 765T It is virtually identical to the 785T. The only difference is the way it does traffic. 765T uses FM traffic free for life. 785T uses MSN Traffic free for 3 months then a subscription. The 765T is about $50 cheaper. It has EVERY other feature the same. Both have BlueTooth and a Mic input in the cradle. Both have Lane Assist, MP3 Player, SD Card Reader, Photo Slide Show, Route Capabilities (10 Routes) etc... I would recommend stainless. I doubt aluminum would hold up. http://www.stanleytools.com/default.asp?TYPE=CATEGORY&CATEGORY=STAINLESS+STEEL+RIVETS Wayne

Ok guys.. this has been driving me a little nuts... I found this. http://www.mountguys.com/product_p/mfx32-gn-11030-99.htm I think it is a good solution and will solve all the issues as long as it is strong enough to hold the unit without it falling out which I believe it will... Waddya think? Wayne

Thank you Joe: Ok if the mic input is on the cradle... how do you have it mounted on the bike? Did you use Ram mount? Does the Ram mount cradle also have the mic input or does the Ram mount us the Garmin Cradle? Wayne
-
Ok here goes... The Garmin site says that the 785T is compatible with an external mic. Does anyone here have one they can look at for me? How about the Ram Mount bracket? What I want to know is Where is the mic input? Unit or Cradle? If it is in the cradle does the Ram Mount cradle have it as well? I really want to be able to use my phone if necessary and cannot justify $700 for the Zumo 550. The 785T has all the features I want for $300 and I can bag it if it looks like rain. Any input here is welcome.... and appreciated.. Wayne OR does anyone want to sell me a Zumo 550 for $400 or less??
