  1. My vote (if we were voting) would be for June 4th...
  2. I have an 84 VR and for about a week I had the backrest that has the bars around the seat. My wife is 4' 11" and those bars hurt her legs so off came the backrest. I ordered one from Utopia and it is perfect. The hardest thing was cutting into my seat.. That took some time to work up the courage to do. I didn't get the removable one but there is lots of room for MY wife. I have take a larger person for a ride a few weeks ago and it was a snug fit. Quality work and even a very close match to my brown seat. Wayne
  3. You can try a golf cart supply store. They have wheels and also wheel covers that are for 8", 10" and 12" http://www.golfcarttirestore.com/wheels8.htm as an example

  5. Do you have headsets? There is a button on the part of the radio for the intercom and it switches between the headsets and the speakers. If you have that button pushed you will get no sound out of the speakers.
  6. Here is a link to a small utility that works exactly the same as the image resize powertoy for XP but is for Windows 7 and Vista (32bit or 64 bit). http://imageresizer.codeplex.com/ I use this all the time. Wayne
  7. I agree with Condor. Something is not right. Hitch looks way too low. From the side the bars should be horizontal and there should be very little gap between the hitch and the bottom of the fender. On my hitch the uprights are not bolted to the trunk rack. In fact you can't really see my upright because they are inside the fender and hook up to the fender bolts at the top of the frame. Also those are flat stock. I can't really take a picture any more because I have the wrap around light bar that hides the whole thing. I've never seen a hitch that attaches to the trunk supports at the top. On the 84 the original exhaust bolts to the passenger peg bracket. I believe the Markland bolts to the same bracket. Mine is not a Markland and it bolts to just above that bracket where the two parts of the frame come together. I had to get a longer bolt for that junction.
  8. Ice Cream was in Ellicottville... MMMMMM MMMMMMM GOOD!!!!
  9. I've got an 84 Gold and cannot get the paint matched anywhere. Colorite has no listings for that or even the 87 which is the same color. I've been to numerous body shops and so far none have been able to get it right. They even tell me that it is hard to do because of the heavy metallic.
  10. So we decided that a longish ride was in order and the weather forcast was perfect. I twisted Steve's rubber arm (The Count) so that he and his wife Michele would join Robin and me. We headed to Western New York with a route plan in mind BUT Tom and Vicky (Big Tom) Ken (BuffaloBodner) and Steve said they would join us as well. Seeing as how the local people usually know the best roads we threw out our plan and went with the flow. Tom lead us on a fantasic ride. We had great people, great weather, Great Food AND great roads.. Doesn't get any better.. Here is a taste of what the day was like... Thanks Tom, Vicky, Steve, Ken, Steve and Michele for an AWSOME day.
  11. I don't own a 2nd gen at the moment but from what I've seen so far. Ride it and listen for the whine. Also make sure the rear shock is good. Check all the electronics (radio, CB etc.) 2003 is out of warranty. Also consider extras that may or may not be on the bikes like saddlebag guards and trunk rack. Most of these add ons do not increase the price of the bike to buy but cost a few bucks to add later.. all of this is just my opinion.... Wayne
  12. Hey Don: You are in our prayers as well as your family. Wayne
  13. for broken and missing tabs I use Plastex. I repaired some peices last night. Amazing stuff. http://plastex.net/ There is a link to "how to videos" on the left. Wayne
  14. Had a GREAT ride. There were 7 of us and Carl found some really skinny roads that twisted and turned and slid and climbed... Even found some really good ice cream.. We had FUN
  15. I'm pretty sure the starter from a 2nd Gen will bolt right in and they are about $50 from Pinwall. Much better starter and probably cost that much to rebuild yours.
  16. Robin and I will be there.. Ice Cream for sure and if Woodstock is the destination.. HMMMM Good.. Wayne
  17. I know states side that is a high price but in Canada IF the bike is mechanically sound and the plastic is in good shape then the price is reasonable. If you are buying it as a parts bike then it is too high and it is not a royale. Hard to tell in the pics what kind of shape it is in.
  18. Looks like it COULD double as a storage rack
  19. I have been trying to do the same thing. I finally found a good 85 trunk with the mounting bracket (which bolts right in) but am having trouble with color matching it to my Blonde I've also toyed with the idea of an 87 trunk. Much bigger job but already the right color. If someone has a gold 87 trunk for sale I'd be VERY interested... :-) Most of the time we can get away with existing space if a day trip. Now we find if we are going away overnight we pull a trailer. I see that yours is the blue. I'm pretty sure they made that color in the MkII. You would need the mounting hardware and possibly do some modifications. Wayne
  20. Bob (bongobobny) Becky and I are leaving shortly. Hope to see everyone at Tim Horton's or possibly walking around. Wayne
  21. I see you have an 85. Beer30 makes removable bags for your bike. He has them fit the trunk as well as the side bags. Wayne
  22. If you are looking for just communications then the cheaper J&M are excellent. If you are looking to listen to music then they are not so good. The higher end J&M are good for that. You can find the J&M's here http://www.sierra-mc.com/categories.asp?cat=312 A lot of folks really like Edsets. They can be found here http://www.edsets.com/3g_luxury_touring Connecting your phone via bluetooth works well if you have a bluetooth enabled GPS and a BuddyRich cable (BuddyRich is a member here).
  23. I actually really like Mapsource. It is important to have the exact same map version in mapsource on your computer as in you zumo. If you do that then the route does not get recalculated when you upload it to your unit. Otherwise when the route is uploaded and recalculated it may get some changes and not go exactly where you planned. This can be minimized by using LOTS of waypoints. When you do a map update you can choose to install to both the unit and the computer but this is not done automatically. You have to go to advanced settings and choose this option. If you use Mapsource with the same map version then all the roads etc will be the same.. even if they are wrong. I know a few roads in my area that are wrong in Mapsource AND on Google Maps .. If you have a Mac then the program is called Road Trip. It is excellent. If you cannot find Mapsource on the Garmin's website and have the right map. You can call Garmin and they will re-enable your last map update so you can redo it to get the program and maps on your computer. Very easy people to deal with Wayne
  24. beautifull!
  25. I'd be interested. Just one question.. What about the startup of the HID? Do you need to have a separate switch so that you start the bike and then turn on the headlight? Wayne
