  1. Thanks everyone for your replys. We will be going to the Island for a couple of days. Will be staying in a place called Tofino in a chalet. I believe it is near a forest I want to see. We really want to do the sea to sky and we intend to go to whistler. I think we will be zip lining in Whistler. Also climbing the Chief (maybe hiking). Suppose to cycle around Stanley Park at some point as well. My daughter wants to show me where Smallville is shot as well. So renting a bike is possible and the sea to sky is what she was telling us about which sounds like a good choice. Am I missing anything important?
  2. The Navigator and I are flying out to B.C. in June for our daughters graduation. She was attending Simon Fraser University and has completed her Grad studies. For the two weeks that we will be there she has a fairly busy schedule planned for us. One suggestion she made is that we rent, borrow or steal a Motorcycle for a day. Is there a place in the Vancouver area that I can rent a Motorcycle for a day? If so does anyone want to play tour guide? Wayne
  3. I cannot imagine that in the twisties..
  4. Happy Easter everyone ... You too Tom... "HE IS RISEN!"
  5. Patti: You can mix it up on the same card. The unit knows the difference between pictures and music. The type of card (micro sd) is what is important. Brand or make is not as important. Something from online or Wallyworld will be just fine as long as it is a micro sd card. They usually come with an adapter so you can plug them into a standard SD slot on the computer to add files directly. If you want to have room for everything on one card then get a bigger card like 8 or 16 gigs. If you want to have different things like you said country on one and classic rock on another then it is easy to store the extra cards. A little inconvenient changing them is all. You have to remove the back of the unit to change the card. Wayne
  6. That is probably true. Most of the songs I have are a bit rate of 128K. If you use a higher bitrate then the file size goes up dramatically. I personally cannot hear the difference. Most songs are about 3 to 4 minutes and at 128k run about 3 to 4 megs. An audiofile with very discerning ears may hear the difference. On the bike or even in the cage with road noise etc thrown in ... NADA.. My opinion..
  7. You can put a little over 4000 songs on a 4 gig.. That is enough music for most trips without playing the same song twice. Roughly 200 hours of music.
  8. This is a good solution for carrying a cooler. It is simple and lite. Also can be adjusted for any size cooler or box. I have one and it works perfect. Would not be hard to make yourself. http://motorcycletrailer.com/icb/
  9. What is DOT 4 synthetic? Is that OK to use?
  10. Where can you get a 20% off coupon?
  11. Annie PM me your address and I'll send something you can reply to and see if that works...
  12. Done.. Just need to know what size you want it to be..
  13. Annie I can resize any photos you need. Let me know how I can help..
  14. Hey Brad: Yes we got pulled in and searched. At first they just said to go in and pay the taxes but then they searched the Van. I had some stuff I picked up from Bob's and they ignored that stuff. The receipt just said tag along or something like that. It didn't actually have the word trailer. The box was open so she looked at all the stuff in the box and wanted to see receipts for everything. Well almost everything was part of the one line on the receipt. Anyhow Don told her to check the website and she ran off for awhile then came back and said we could go.. Don paid the taxes.. All in all with a 20% off coupon he did real good. Looks like it will be a nice trailer for a very good price.
  15. I like it
  16. Mine's an 84 and I really like this bike...
  17. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNIE!!
  18. Thanks for the reminder... Hey with the Canadian Dollar being so strong it was an amazing deal at $11.84 Cnd:stirthepot:
  19. Congratulations Brad.. Very NICE..
  20. I'm going to be there most of this afternoon (Sat) and almost every Wednesday evening (depending on if it snows or not). It would be AWESOME to see you Phil. Actually anyone wanting to put their 2 cents in or lend a hand would be welcome... Of course I should let Carl chime in here since it is his place.. But I know he likes company...
  21. So far this second gear repair has been "interesting" Getting the motor out was fine except getting the pipes out of the collector. After beating on them for a few weeks we finally got them apart and the engine on the bench. Ordered gaskets and "O" rings from Skydoc (thanks Earl) and our wonderfull customs played with the package for about a month after we paid EXTRA for priority post so that the stuff would get here while I remembered where the stuff went. So now we are assembling and figuring it out as we go. Carl is a real trouper. (thanks Carl) Anyhow got the tranny back together and into the bike. Started to look around for some other stuff to put back together. Found a clutch slave and even found where it was suppose to go. Looked around for the socket head bolts that hold it in and one of them was broke. Took a look and low and behold the broken part is still in the hole. Can't get a drill into that area. I left Carl's the other night somewhat worried but he said he could "do it" Now I'm hoping that "getting her done" is what he meant here...
  22. The kit comes as a bolt together. This would be fine especially if you put a floor of some sort on it. BUT I cut mine up and wanted it real solid so welded it together. I also got real anal about the tongue and bought a length of rectangular tubing which I then took to a guy down the road and had him put a small S bend in it so that when it was hooked to the bike it was level. I also flipped the axle to get it as low as possible to the ground which made me make up brackets to hold the fenders. etc etc etc... you get the picture. I actually bought the kit for the materials. When I was shopping for parts here in Canada it was about $150 just for the axle and springs.. I got the whole kit from HF on sale for $139. I did change all the lights to LED. IF you need some help I would be happy to do that. Personally if I was doing it again and with a car topper I'd still cut it up and make it narrower to fit the car topper.. This just for the appearance. When you narrow it you need to shorten the axle. I'm thinking one end could be cut off and a new hole drilled for the spring pin but I cut it out of the middle and welded it back together with a brace to make sure it was strong enough. I hung my spare on the bottom with a long Stainless bolt through the tongue. Anyhow the project was actually fun. My concern would be trying to color match the plastic rooftop.. How flexible is paint and will it stick to the plastic? When it was all said and done I had a home built trailer and I just went to the license bureau and got an ownership and plate. Cost was cheap (around $25)
  23. You could pick up a harbor frieght trailer kit that comes in two boxes. They would fit in your car and then buy a car topper for it. Worst case scenario is pay the duty. I'll be heading down to visit with Bob in the next week or two. You could come along or I might be able to get talked into picking it up for you. Sometimes they go on sale real cheap. http://www.harborfreight.com/automotive-motorcycle/trailer-trailer-accessories/870-lb-capacity-40-inch-x-49-inch-heavy-duty-utility-trailer-with-8-inch-wheels-and-tires-42708.html
  24. There was a time that I was considering getting into flying. I did some research and took the idea seriously. What I wanted was a two seater with some carrying capacity. During the time I took in some flights (not as pilot) and asked lots of questions. So I've been in a challenger but didn't fly it myself. Once I was done the research it came down to two planes. The Challenger or the Kitfox. The Kitfox I did get to fly. A friend of mine has a Piper Cub and I've flown that as well. The Kitfox flew almost exactly like the Cub and I really liked it's characteristics. The Challenger FELT right but again I wasn't the pilot. What was cool was we were in one with amphibian floats. We took off from the airport in Bracebridge ON. and landed at one point on a small lake near Muskoka. My pilot raved about the plane. He obviously loved it. There was a club (probably still it) and they flew together regularly. He liked winter flying the best and I doubt anyone would enjoy flying the Kitfox in the winter.
