Out for spring......
Wizard765 replied to Reddog170's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Check the 3 wire plug on the left side just under the seat to see if it is burned out or corroded. Some of us have removed that plug all together and soldered those wires together. Failing that you either have something shorted out and draining the battery or it could possibly be your stator.. There are after market high output stators available. Skydoc can help you out with that.. -

I was wondering if anyone knew the sizes available. Are they being made to fit the 1st gen? I really liked the original commanders..- 1 reply

Hey there: Dano is a great guy and has been part of this family for a long time. Always willing to help and with a smile to boot. I know that this is most likely embarrasing for him but being self employed has it's downside when something goes wrong. I know that if something like this happened to me I'd be in big trouble as well. Hope everyone is considering this... even small amounts add up if enough folks get on board.. Good Luck Dano and God Bless You.. God Bless all those that care enough to help out.. Wayne

I'm thinking you could find a hitch or ask around.. probably cost the same or less than the material to make one... Anyone have a hitch for a Mk1 for sale?

2nd gear is not a deal breaker... If you are mechanically inclined and not afraid to get a bit dirty you can do the fix for around $200 (washer and gaskets etc..) Carl and I did mine last winter and while it was out we changed all the "O" rings and gaskets that cannot be changed with the engine in the bike. SOOOOOO happy now. Get everything you need to do the job from Skydoc.. Great guy to talk to about what is needed. I also had some help from Dano and Dingy. This is the best place around and worth every nickel of the $12.00 fee... Anyhow if you can get a good deal on it and even if the serial number is before the fix date it is an AWESOME bike and you will love it.. If you do the fix before it starts jumping out then you will have no damage to gears etc so all you need is the washer and gaskets. Good Luck -
It sounds like you have covered all the bases. The only thing I can see that seems to not add up is the steering head adjustment. If you can feel ANY drag with the wheel off the ground then the bearings are too tight. You should be able to swing the wheel back and forth without resistance. If you bounce the steering off the stops it should rebound somewhat and come to a rest. IF they are too tight the handling will be very bad. I had mine too tight at one point and could not keep the bike going in a straight line. As others have said there should be no instability at ANY speed. If all is good then the bike handles like a dream..

Marca's dad
Wizard765 replied to Marcarl's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Carl and Marca: Robin and I are praying for you and yours. May the LORD be with you in this time of loss. Always remember what JESUS said.. John 14:1-4“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” And what Paul said.. 2 Corinthians 5:1 "For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands." -

You need to have a friend in the States... I just bought one and gave them Bob's address.. Their policy is $5.00 shipping for any item. Cannot be done to Canada... Bob has been AMAZING. I get stuff shipped to him all the time because of the difficulties involved sometimes or even just the price difference. Do you know someone close to the B.C. border that would be willing to let you use their address? -

Got up this morning and as usual every morning have to check on here. Got a WHOOP out of me when I read this... Going home is a big step. Thanking God that you are going to be OK and still praying for complete recovery... -
OK Here is my take.. we just bought my wife a Samsung Tab 8.9. IF you want it just for reading then the e-ink versions would be the way to go. They can be read in any lighting situation that a book can be read in (outside, inside, room lighting, sunlight etc) and the battery holds up for weeks. IF you want to do more than read (email, browse the web, etc) then the Kindle Fire or the Nook or the new Kobo Vox would be a better choice. In all these cases they are like a small tablet although in most cases they are tied into the system they came from. IE Amazon for the Kindle. Battery life is about a day (7 hours of continuous use) There are numerous tablets available today that have the whole operating system such as the iPad 2 and the Samsung Tabs.. These have access to the whole market place as well as being faster. So it comes down to what you want to do with it. Reading only Reading and some web content Reading web content and all the other stuff like gaming, info apps, etc...
