  1. Yep. Pulled a trailer on some long trips and would not hesitate to do more.. Only thing holding me back is
  2. Behind the headlight is a cluster of relays strapped to a steel bar. It is on that bar. Not sure if you can reach it with the headlight out or not. Might have to take the dash top cover off to get to it.
  3. Hi there: Just got home and seen this. I installed the utopia on my 84 and really like it. I thought the measurements and instructions that came with it were right on. Hope you like yours. Wayne
  4. The existing resistor worked for me. Just left it in and did not add anything. Hooked that up to the accessory screw and works like a charm.
  5. nice stalking!!! hope he comes by for a visit
  6. I have trouble sometimes keeping my cruise on and what is happening is the wind will push the clutch lever just enough to disengage the cruise. If I hold the clutch leaver out everything works fine. It feels like there should be a spring or at least a stronger spring in there to keep it out a tad more. Is there a way to make the lever stay out and not disengage the cruise. I had the handle apart and cannot find a spring so I'm guessing it is inside the housing.
  7. on the couple of occasions that I attempted to use Partsshark the shipping cost was prohibitive. One time I asked a US member to let me ship to them and then picked it up from them. MUCH less expensive.
  8. Evan: That must be the synthetic price. I use Rotella T dino and sometimes it's on sale for $18. I think the regular price is $25 Wayne
  9. Looks GREAT Rick. Gonna make the long trips a lot more comfy..
  10. My thought is that it is not normal. Mine keeps the same pressure all season unless I change it myself.
  11. Welcome to the site!! The parts are still available. Caliper can probably be rebuilt and kits (either Yamaha or aftermarket) are readily available at a dealer or online. Kits are also available to rebuild the clutch slave. The passenger pegs come up on eBay all the time but someone here might have a set. I removed mine and put a set of floor boards from a MkII on mine. I think I already gave away the old pegs though. Seafoam may do wonders for the carbs but worse case scenario is take them apart and clean them. Check the diaphrams for holes and then get them synched. Over all that is very low miles for an 84 and if she is in good cosmetic shape then well worth putting some time into. Mine is an 84 and I love the ride. The only big issue that may come up at some future point is 2nd gear but there is not enough miles on it yet for that to be showing up. Again welcome to the site.. Hang around for awhile I know you will like it here...
  12. as far as I know there is only one bracket and one antenna. There may be aftermarket antenna brackets for the other side but there is no factory mount on that side. I would prefer to get a factory antenna mount. I have the antenna and everything that goes with it. Just the mount to make it work with the bigger bag.
  13. Bob: If I can't find one maybe I can make one(2) or have one(2) made. I can get the dimensions from Carls. Wayne
  14. I have a project I'm working on. My 84 has a very small trunk and I have the mounting bracket for an 85 trunk. I've also determined that any MkII trunk will fit the 85 hardware. The only thing I'm missing now is the antenna bracket. It needs to be longer than the 84. Questions are.... Does the MkII bracket fit on the 85 mounting rack? Does anyone have one they would be willing to part with? Failing that at least I would know if I could look at ANY MKII on eBay...
  15. I like it.. If I was in the market for a commuter I think it would be perfect.. better than peddling a bicycle...
  16. Looks GRRRREAT.. Enjoy..
  17. Holy Cow!! What a show.. That is some flying..
  18. I put a utopia backrest on my 84 with the two tone brown seat. The Utopia came as an almost perfect match. Love it. Makes the longer rides so much more comfortable. My Navigator as no trouble getting on and off. Neither do I. The backrest folds forward so you can swing your leg over it. The main reason I went this way was because the venture line units have a support bar that goes around the seat and it bothered my wifes legs. The Utopia goes Through the seat so has no bar. The hardest part was getting over having to put a hole in the seat to accommodate the support post for the backrest. Follow the instructions that come with it and it is not a difficult install.
  19. You can still order the pins from a Yamaha supplier. BUT what some of us have done is replace the whole unit from one out of a later model V-Max. It is a cast unit instead of pressed and the tabs will never bend out again. When I did it I ordered one from a 2002 V-Max.. The only real difficulty was getting the center screw out of it. Had to use heat and an impact screw driver to get it loose. It is in with loctite. The original pin is part number 93603-10049-00 and you may be able to get it from partshark.. as well..
  20. Almost there.. I think we are just waiting for one more small part to make it work slick... There is a test set on MY scoot right now.. They look GREAT!! I think Bob is bringing a bag of those parts to the M&E tonight...
  21. Don: I would not limit my search to Ontario.. Any of the upper states are close and you can lots of times get a better deal States side.. Not difficult at all to get across the boarder.. BradT does this. Wayne
  22. They will never find a site like this. Also I'm pretty sure they could get all the assistance they need right here... If it was me I'd be steering them to VR.org.
  23. Good One Phil.. I'm sure you are gonna really enjoy that scoot. She looks GREAT!
  24. So is this because he is tired ummm retired now and has all this spare time on his hands? Good idea.. giving him some responsibility might keep him out of trouble..
  25. Twasn't me... I mean I was there pretty much all day but with my bike on it's nose IN your garage I surely didn't RIDE by.... And it wern't Ralph even though he was keeping me company while you deserted us. His scoot was up on a lift with rear taken out so no RIDING by there either.. soooooo this narrows the search a little..
