  1. Nice Job looks good
  2. I'll be leaving Caledonia about 8 and meet you guys at Casablanca at 9 in time for a coffee and be ready to hit the road at 9:30.. Looking forward to the trip. Seeing as how I'm riding a 1st Gen I guess I could sleep in till about 8:55 and still make it to the meeting place around 9:01... hmmmm?
  3. I believe it may be depending on who made it and HOW it is mounted. Some MkI hitches like Markland attach to the back of the passenger peg bracket which is totally different on a MkII. My hitch on the other hand (don't know who made it) attaches to the frame so may work on a MkII as well as on my MkI.
  4. Ha Ha Ha.... Actually it isn't for me. I have a friend (Brian) that has an 88 and at the moment running like crap. Missing on one cylinder etc. He also has an 84 he is going to part out.. Was just thinking if the problem was the TCI he has a spare.. Brian isn't on the site and I have my doubts about him joining because he doesn't do computers at all. He has been to Marcarl's Venture Inn and met some folks..
  5. here is a site for the Marshall Mod which works with a 1st gen and should also work for the 1500 wing. It also shows a fold down adapter. http://bludolphintravel.com/gmg/marshallmod.htm
  6. Finding that part may be somewhat difficult but you could convert to a CB antenna from a truck stop or a CB shop if you have one in your area. That is what I did and it works great.
  7. Thanks Earl.. That is exactly what I needed to know..
  8. Just wondering if the TCI from and 84 is interchangeable with one from an 88?
  9. Hey Donny: Have a look under "Forums" on the left side then scroll down to "Members Restaurant Reviews" All kinds of places have been featured in U.S., Canada and even international. There may even be some in your area. You can add yours there as well. Have fun trying them all out... Come on up to Ontario and try some of ours too:bighug:
  10. I'm planning on coming for a ride tonight.. Will there be an ICE CREAM stop?
  11. Oh Bob: This is really sad news. Please let Becky know that we are praying for her and her daughter and the family. Heartbreaking.... Wayne
  12. I think you Keep the bell... What are you trading in for? Is the Phantom wife going to like it?
  13. Hey BOB: Make sure you give our congrats to Becky.. What is a Cheektowaga?
  14. Steve: I use a relay on all of the above. It isolates the add ons from your bike's harness and also allows more power to those units. You can get the relays at Canadian Tire or any auto parts store. I have relays for my highway lights and for my steble horn. I also have relays for each set of lights in my rear bumper and for the trailer harness. My LED's didn't work properly until I used the relays. Now I have a hot fused wire running to the rear of the bike and it powers all the lights.
  15. This is a loaded question. In my opinion it totally depends on your budget. The Zumo series from Garmin are motorcycle specific. They are waterproof and come with the hardware to mount in a car and on the bike. Screen is bright enough to read in sunlight and you can make up a route before you leave. Routes can be shared with anyone that has a similar garmin product. BUT they are expensive. I have the Zumo 660 and really like it.
  16. I do that as well Carl. In fact if the bike has been sitting any length of time then I will turn the key a few times till the pump stops clicking. That way I know the fuel is up to pressure at the carbs..
  17. Thanks guys.. This gives me something to work with.. appreciate the help..
  18. That's Kool I WANT one:rotf:
  19. I was wondering if anyone knows of a replacement or some way to replace the top half of the CB antenna. I have 2 friends missing the top piece above the black part. Is it possible to make up something that will work or find a place that sells just that part?
  20. My wife is very small so for us this isn't usually an issue. But I do take people for rides that are much larger and I always give them the "speech" before we go anywhere near the bike. Anyhow what works for me is I get on first. When I'm ready the passenger gets on and I hold the bike. The big trick for me especially for larger passengers is to lean the bike to the right as they get on from the left. As they transition from side to center I bring the bike back to upright. In this way I don't have to hold up the weight of the passenger. I almost never let the passenger get on first unless it's a kid or elderly (somewhat challenged) person. Once you do this a few times it is very easy and takes little strength.
  21. I'd like a pair of the shorter ones. Mostly I use Ram mounts so whatever I'm attaching can be adjusted to fit. I really like the bullet end. It cleans it up nice.
  22. You can get the updated part from a dealer. Any later model V-Max not including the newest. When I did mine I got the pins and the plate as well Segment (basket) Part Number 4NK-18185-00-00 $26.98 Pins (5 needed) 93604-12037-00 $129 ea Pin (1 needed) 93603-10049-00 $1.05 Pin (1 needed) 93604-16092-00 $1.05 Stopper Plate 4NK-18141-00-00 $10.06 Prices are from Partshark
  23. Got the upgrade from Skydoc for a friend with an 88 and it solved the slipping problem. Works a charm and easy to install. Don't even need to drain the oil. Comes with friction disk, spring and gasket and instructions.
  24. Carl and I both made a set of wings for our windshields. His are wider than mine. We bought acrylic clear plastic and traced a set I had given to me. Carl had the brackets made up from stainless and we cut some thin rubber as a gasket between the bracket and the plastic. They look good and were easy to make. My Navigator is very happy. It extends the "bubble" past her now so she is much more comfortable on those cooler rides.
  25. The MkII hardware won't fit your 83. You could keep and eye on eBay or you could buy new at Utopia pretty much the cost of the hardware that is on eBay right now. http://www.utpr.com/venture.html Lester's travelcade seat would be and excellent choice though and all you would need to do is recover it. I priced covering mine once and it was about $150. Travelcade is a very nice seat.
