Newbie to the ad-Venture
Wizard765 replied to Dailyrdr's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Welcome aboard.. Once you get her home and have a look see.. you will know more. My biggest concern will be how long she sat.. If for too long then you start looking at replacing ALL the rubber components which can add up to a few bucks.. But if you enjoy wrenching and have some patience then it could be a rewarding project. The bike is an amazing ride.. -

My bike isn't here right now and I cannot find a good picture of the helmet holders on the bike. Here is one online.. http://www.jpcycles.com/product/ZZ50730 When I get out to Carl's I'll get a picture on the bike. -
'89 VR Brake Res. Chrome Cover Bolt
Wizard765 replied to gwashorn's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I agree with Carl. I have those chrome covers as well. AND I wanted helmet holders in those holes. I could not find a left hand thread version so I just retapped the hole to a right hand thread. Now I have the helmet holders AND the chrome covers. Have not dropped a helmet on the ground since. Been about 4 years and all is good. I believe the thread on the helmet holders was/is 10mm -
This is GOOD news Angel.. We are very happy to hear about a new position. Hope and pray the move goes well.. God Bless

If you bought and paid for a Stebel then you did not get what you paid for. You MAY have a good horn or may not. Flamm has been around a long time BUT it may or may not be as loud etc.. I personally would not be happy about now.. If I bought a Stebel then I expect to receive a Stebel.

What I have is TomTom U.S. and Canada. It cost me $40 on special at the time. I believe it is now around $50 which is a pretty cheap full featured GPS with street name turn by turn directions and lifetime map updates etc.. Plus it's always in my pocket..

I've been using this TomTom app on my iPhone for years. I have a zumo 660 for the bike but this app is handy in the car. I always have it with me and it is very user friendly. On the plus side it has always done free updates on a regular basis. On the negative side it has not done routes. One of the features I really like about the Zumo is the routes feature. Now Just got a major update for the TomTom app. NOW it can do routes.. So far i have not been able to figure out a way to make a route on the computer using say Mapquest or Google maps and then transfer to the app but maybe there is a way and i just don't know how.. Here is the WOW factor though.. When I pick a destination now I get a bunch of choices on how I'm going to get there.. Fastest, Shortest, Eco, Avoid Hwys, walking route, Bicycle route AND Get this!!! WINDING ROADS...!!!! LOVE IT.. Tested it in my area where I know the roads and it does an AMAZING job of picking a twisty route.. Now I am hoping that maybe Garmin will come up with an update that will do something similar

Ride height question
Wizard765 replied to mralex714's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
There should be no difference in height between the two. Unless something was changed or worn. Say for example the 84 was weak and the 86 is newer or stronger with less stress over the years. Possible that the 86 has a progressive spring in it which would make it higher.. Stock should not be different. -
I know I know.. not very original but my Gold 84 is BLONDIE.. as in Dagwood and Blondie

rear tire ?
Wizard765 replied to OrlinEngh's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I really like the E3s. Toss up between them and the Avons but I had a wobble with the Avons that I couldn't get rid of. I believe it is bike problem though not a tire problem.. -
