Newbie question
Wizard765 replied to Boatnut's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It's not an 86 either. It's an 85.. Looks clean and completely original. I don't see ANY add ons.. -
This is an amazing product and very easy to use. 3D drawing with lots of tutorials available and with dimensions etc. Pretty simple but effective. I have been using it for awhile now and love it. There is a pro version that will import and export to and from different programs such as AutoCAD. Right now we are designing a new church addition with this. Once we have what we want we will be handing it to our Architect to complete the final drawings. Every architect and engineer we have talked to has Sketchup pro for this purpose. Also just finished designing a receiver hitch for a MkII in this product.. Anyhow I am very excited about this drawing program.. try it out and I think you will be impressed.

Newbie question
Wizard765 replied to Boatnut's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
This could be a number of different things. The Carbs could need a good cleaning or the TCI could have failed (this sounds like what mine was doing when the TCI failed. But it also could be a bad vacuum hose going to the MAP sensor.. I would check that hose first. Anyhow if the price is right it will be a great bike for you. BUT if you are looking for something that you won't have to work on I believe that could be a problem due to the bike being 30 years old there will most likely be things to tinker with periodically. I beileve the bike is worth it though. Awesome bike to ride. Once you get it running properly you will be very happy with the performance. -
Planning a repaint
Wizard765 replied to Ballplayer60410's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Someone in this area did an A&W theme on his VR. I wish I had taken pics because it sounds not so good but the brown base with orange two tone looked amazing. He used the OEM pattern. -
As long as the projectors are also LED then the switches should handle that current. I believe for the lights that you want to just have come on with the headlight you could just tie into the headlight circuit to power up the relay. You would only need one relay. The headlight goes off with the power so it would also kill the highway lights. If you wanted them only on with the high beam then tie into the high beam circuit. My question is. Are the switches in the package wired independently? Or do they all have a common power and ground?

Thank you for the warning.. this appears to be a very real threat and once infected you will HAVE to pay the ransom to recover your data.. Now I think that if someone is paying these a$$h0les then there should be a way to trace who is getting the money.. Then they should be strung up by their Thumbs and let the rest of us take off pieces...

Rear brake rotor loose
Wizard765 replied to Jayceesfolly's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Jim: I believe this is the way they are designed. Sort of a floating system so as not to wear inevenly etc.. If you look at the front ones I think they are the same. Cannot tell when the calipers are on.. Wayne -
I have a couple of them here but not sure which are good and which are not good. You are very welcome to try them out and see if it helps.. I'd love to see my jacket again..

Looking for MKII Crash Guards
Wizard765 replied to Wizard765's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'd be very interested in what you have Earl and shipping to Bob works for me.. or maybe I'll make the trip down to see YOU in person.. -
Ok looks like I have a new project.. Gonna pick up an 87 VR. It looks pretty good but has been sitting for awhile.. It has been laying down a few times and the crash guards are very scratched and dented.. I'd love to be able to put something on her that are somewhat more appealing.. Anyone? Oh front AND rear..

Walmart Platinum Burner LEDs
Wizard765 replied to Ventureless's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I didn't know Walmart had the platinum burners in LED. Can you find a link? I have the halogen version and they work well. The 55 watt bulbs were replaced with 35 watt and they light up the road very well.. would be interested to see how well the LED version works and the cost -
Hey Scott: Robin and I are praying for you and the eye surgeon. We have been through this with our daughter. It is amazing what they can do. Wayne

After market TCI ?
Wizard765 replied to 6m459's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The screws come out but the nuts stay put. The nuts hold a heat sink onto the board. I unsoldered at the connectors to get the board out and it worked fine. Using a wick worked well for me. This way I didn't have to chew up the box.- 33 replies

So far looking good for Tuesday

Anyone wanting to join us this Tuesday for a color ride with Bongobobny please post here. We would prefer to leave from my place so as to avoid HWY most of the day. 9 AM if possible... Suppose to be a very nice day.

A bunch of years ago my brother and I took his 32 foot cruiser to a Pink Floyd concert in Toronto. Found a slip at Queen's Quay and there was a real nice boat a few slips over with a few folks having a cold one. It was named AM FM and me thinking radio asked the owner what it stood for.. His answer at the time shocked me.. ALL MY F&*KING MONEY

Thank you Skydoc_17 (Earl): I have had a gremlin for awhile now. When I park the bike it smells like gas for a long time and as a result my friend has been stuck outside for a few weeks now and is missing being in the house. Anyhow Earl gave me some instructions on cleaning the carbs while still in the bike.. Only took an hour or so including taking off a few parts to get to them.. BUT IT WORKED!!!!! This was way less expensive and much easier than rebuilding the carbs or even having to take them out.. Thanks again Earl.. What I did was take off a few side covers so that I could see the carbs clearly and there are 4 rubber hoses which are plugged into drains on the carbs. I loosened the small philips screws and let them drain into a metal can. Then took some seafoam spray and stuck the red nozzle extension up the hose while holding a shop rag tight around the junction of the rubber hose and the red nozzle. Sprayed about 4 seconds into the hose. and then let it drain. Did this on each carb then did it again on each carb and then again. About 5 or 6 times on each carb. After this I started the bike and waited for the gas smell. Nothing.. Put it all back together and started it again and let it run for awhile. She is now parked inside again..

I was at your house the other day with my 84 and I remember you and the missus having a listen. Your 86 should sound the same unless you have aftermarket exhaust. The missus really liked it if I recall..
