  1. Yes you can use Pandora at the same time or answer the phone or use the built in mp3 player etc.. The shadow box is a good idea..
  2. Yes I have that app on my iphone and it is fantastic. Like having a full blown GPS built into your phone.. turn by turn directions with street names and free updates to the software as well as the maps... Works even if you turn off your data... It does take up a little over a Gig of space on your phone though because it downloads all of North America.. About a year ago I got a free update on mine and now when I choose the kind of route I want to take to my destination I have another choice besides "fastest" or "shortest" etc.. the other choice is "Windiest Roads" and then you choose high or middle or low.. Amazing.. Only drawback is it is not bright enough for sunny days.. but you can hear it.. I use a Zumo on the bike but use this app in the car or van all the time..
  3. Steve If you want Mapsource you can get the instructions and links here http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/tutorials/how-to-install-mapsource-if-it-didnt-come-with-your-gps/ If that fails or you can't get it to work I can put the software on a disk or thumb drive for you.. AND if you invite us over for a visit I will help you install it...
  4. Steve: I make routes all the time and actually really like the software that comes with the Garmin. One of the advantages is that as long as you keep the maps up to date then it won't have to recalculate the route when you import.. the software that I like is called Mapsource. Wayne
  5. I'll see if I can get a picture to post.. hmmm air There are no end weights right now and the ends are a chrome dome with no screws or seams.. If I was going to use air... how would I do that? Do I dismantle the throttle assembly and take the whole unit off the bar?
  6. My 2nd gen came with heated grips and I want to put the Kuryakyn grips on that I purchased.. I know getting the left grip off is a piece of cake by just twisting hard.. The right side is another matter. Don't want to put undo stress on the throttle cables so looking for a way to get the old grip off. They are not stock and they don't have a removable end. I'm starting to think I may have to cut them off.. Any Ideas from the brain trust?
  7. Thanks guys this is great.. one more thing then.. can I mix T6 with another type of aluminum? can they be welded? Like use the T6 for the stinger and regular aluminum for the angle frame and expanded mesh for the floor and weld it all together?
  8. So I want to make a small carrier for the back of the bike to put into the receiver hitch (thank you Carbon One for an excellent product0 Anyhow I was hoping the make the whole think out of aluminum. 1 1/4" square aluminum tubing strong enough? For the shaft that goes into the receiver? I'm guessing the max weight I would ever put on it is 50 lbs.
  9. Don I'm very happy that you and the bike are OK... Donate button is on the top right of the screen...
  10. that is a significant difference.. I know they are a little expensive but I've been looking at the J&S Jack. It appears to be an amazing product. Does anyone have experience with this particular jack? ($400)
  11. Gary it's good to hear this news.. Now you NEED to do the therapy even if it hurts a somewhat.. From the experience of a few of my friends this is the most important part and the mobility you wind up with is directly proportionate to the therapy..
  12. Can we ask which rack you got?
  13. Will your car make it to my house? If so you can take my Van or if we get the right day I can come along for the ride
  14. Probably my favourite tune of all time is Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb.. But I LIKE all of the above :-) actually love 50s 60s AND 70s. Really like Dire Straits - Telegraph Road and of course Led Zepplin - Stairway to Heaven. Totally get off on Jethro Tull - Locomotive Breath and get a kick out of Queen - Killer Queen or Bohemian Rapsody
  15. Don: I think it will work as long as the total amp draw of the fuse block isn't greater than the relay is rated for. This is assuming you want your passing lights on all the time.. The horn cannot be in this block though. It needs it's own circuit. So for anything that is on all the time that the bike is on this will work.
  16. The tool for windows 7 will work on windows 8 https://imageresizer.codeplex.com/releases/view/30247
  17. I'm in Southern Ontario just south of Hamilton.. I've done a few clutch upgrades on 1st gens and basically they are the same so I'd be happy to give you a hand.. I have all the tools we will need but it's a ways from Bellville to Caledonia.. It really is not difficult. You're call.
  18. Thanks for the ideas so far.. The navigator and I are looking at maps and taking some of your ideas to work on this.. Any more? keep them coming...
  19. Well folks I actually have a week off coming up and was really wanting to explore the PA and WV area etc.. I'm thinking of heading from my place in Caledonia Ontario to say PA somewhere the first day and find somewhere to stay for a couple of days and do day trips then move to another location for a couple more days and do day trips etc.. Just beginning to figure this out and was thinking you guys n gals could maybe help with suggestions of things to see and roads to ride and maybe even good places to stay (not too expensive) Any suggestions would be very helpful.. I heard #6 is great.. I've been down 219 and it was excellent (in a car) and looking forward to doing it on the bike.. so far that's all I got..
  20. If you have the oil level higher than 1/2 way up the sight glass it will spew the extra when you wind it out. So on the highway you may have gotten higher rpms than in the driveway.. Have a look INSIDE the air breather.. for oil.
  21. Jim: I am able to find 5 to 4 converter isolators but my bike AND my trailer are 5 wire so what I'm looking for is an isolator that does not convert. Cannot find such a puppy.. With the 84 I made my own with a number of relays.. but there was room to put them.. with the MM there is much less hiding space.
  22. Is there a 5 way powered isolator? Where do I get one?
  23. Sorry to hear this sad news Bob. Robin and I will be praying for you and Becky to find peace in this situation..
  24. This is the one I got from Canada http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-V-MAX-VMAX-VMX12-V-MAX-1200-VMAX1200-XVZ1300-VENTURE-CARB-KIT-/131138434030?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e8875b3ee&vxp=mtr This looks the same http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-1993-Yamaha-Venture-XVZ1300-V-Max-1200-K-L-Carburetor-Carb-Repair-Kit-/350935046884?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51b55bdae4&vxp=mtr In my case I needed to get new needles as well and I had to get them from the dealer.. They come with the needle and the spring as well as the little "O" ring and washer.. Cost me about $8 here in Canada so I'm going to guess half that your side of the border..
  25. I got rebuild kits for my 87 off eBay and they worked perfectly
