  1. In my opinion it is just a matter of time and the "upgrade" will be necessary. Even though I'm an Old Fart and hate change I realize that sometimes it is inevitable.. I'd say that now is as good a time as any and you've already spent the many hours and sleepless nights trying to get this right. I am sure that I am not alone in appreciating you and what you do for this site and all of us that call it home.. So I'd say go for it and we will all get use to it.. I'm sure there will be some growing pains and a learning curve but hey.. It's all about the people not the face of the site..
  2. There use to be a member here (Rumboogy I think) that runs a formum just for zumo. http://www.zumoforums.com/ and you may get someone there that can answer this question

  6. Well in the spring I bought an MM RSV from my friend Abdul. It has taken me a whole summer to actually feel like it is my bike. My 84 Blonde was sold quickly and I was torn for quite awhile about that. She was my baby for a long time and I had spent time and $$$ making her unique. Local folks have seen the new RSV while Abdul had it and some have seen it while I've had it. She came with a lot of extra$ but I took a couple of them off and added some of my own and now she is feeling like mine.. Also we have experienced a few things which also makes for a bonding time. Twice over the summer I've had charging issues (which is a longish story I won't get into at this time) one of which happened while away in PA on Vacation. All seems good now though. Got a question.. There is a large chunk of chrome on the rear of the front fender. I was curious if this is a MM thing or an add on? I'm attaching some pics because I know the rules and want to brag a little.. even got the vanity plate I wanted... Last photo has yours truly in it so ya'll can get a gander at the ugly dude that gets to ride this pretty steed
  7. I believe they are the same.. I know the stator, middle gear and water pump are because I've used them and I think the tranny cover is also the same
  8. Wow!!! Sounds AWESOME!! Congrats on the 25 years.. Hope you guys really enjoy the time away in Paradise.. I think we are all looking forward to pics..
  9. It's a little tight but I put the straps over the bottom brace of the triple tree and ratchet them tight enough to pull the forks down about half way. Not worried about bending anything and stays solid. Use the rear crash bars to stabilize the back end from bouncing around. Yes trailering an RSV is sacrilegious BUT if she is dead (bad regulator and stranded on the hwy miles from home) you sometimes just want to get her home to get her fixed..
  10. 1082 Canadian.. 180,000 Kms Looks and Runs GREAT...
  11. I was having this problem (still do on IE) and switched to Firefox. The interface is more similar to IE than Chrome but both work just fine..
  12. Rick's makes a good stator and I would guess his regulator would be good as well..
  13. I don't know how many here have experienced this but it is NOT fun.. After a very nice Wednesday night ride with MarCarl I headed home and checked the site and mail etc.. Started feeling some pain in my side but at first thought it was the way I was sitting. The pain got worse and worse and came in waves until the point where on a bad wave I started heaving. Didn't really bring anything up but went through the motions.. After this the pain would subside from a 10+ down to a manageable 4 or 5. Once a wave hit I actually started looking forward to the heaves because after that the pain would start to reduce. My wife who was asleep woke up and started asking me if I wanted to go to emerg but I was thinking Gas and was hoping it would pass. Nope not a chance. It just kept getting worse and I could not handle it any more so she called for an ambulance and off to the hospital I go. Spent the rest of the nite passing a Kidney Stone.. Sure hope this never happens again and also hope none of you have to experience it. Worst pain I have ever had.. Now sitting here in somewhat of a Daze due to lack of sleep and a dull ache in the side (around a 3) Got so much to do but don't feel up to it at all.. So for those of you so inclined a prayer would be appreciated.. Wayne
  14. Another possibility.. Did you know about the button that switches from headset to speakers? You could be sending the sound to the headsets
  15. Rick's Motorsport makes a good stator and they have High Output as well as OEM style.. http://ricksmotorsportelectrics.com You can get the gasket there as well
  16. looks like you two are having a GREAT time.. Keep it up..
  17. Apparently the new version of Google Maps no longer supports the send to GPS function. Mapquest still does but there is a trick.. Try this.. 1) Plug your nuvi in to the computer and go to www.mapquest.com. 2) Click on Get Directions. Put in your starting address as point A and your final destination as point B. Click Get Directions and Mapquest will calculate a default route and show it on the map with a blue line. 3) Add shaping points. This is basically done with "rubber banding" the blue route line. Zoom in on an area where you want to shape the route, grab the blue line, drag it to a road segment you want your route to pass through, and drop it on the road. This will put a red dot at this point and redraw the blue route line through it. Do this with each desired shaping point until the route is the way you want it. 4) Change the shaping points to "Stops". For each red dot on your route, right click on it and select "Make it a route stop" on the Mapquest pop-up menu. This step turns the shaping points into via's that will be recognized by the nuvi. 5) Send the route to the nuvi. On the Mapquest menu select Send > Garmin GPS > Route. Enter a file name for the .GPX file, select your nuvi and press Send. 6) Import route. Safely remove your nuvi from the computer, boot it up. On newer nuvi's with Trip Planner, wait a few minutes and your transferred route should be recognized automatically and show up as a trip in the Trip menu. On older nuvi's with Custom Routes, go to Tools > My Data > Import route from file. Select the file you sent from Mapquest, let it calculate and save it. Let me know how you make out
  18. Eck You may have to import the route into the GPS.. On the GPS you go to My Data and then to import data and then to import routes and you should see the files you added. Your GPS may want to recalculate the route which should be OK as long as you have enough waypoints to make it go the way you want. Otherwise it will take you shortest or fastest depending on your settings. If I use Mapsource (Garmin's software) AND if I have the maps updated AND if they are both the same version then I don't have to import but IF any one of those things are not right then I have to import the route ON THE GPS.. Hope this is clear as mud.. If you need some more help of want me to walk you through it my phone number is in my profile..
  19. I'm going to assume that the RSTD is the same as the RSV in this instance. The Stator is on the left side of the engine behind the large chrome engine cover. To remove the cover I needed to loosen the left side exhaust so as not to scratch the cover as I removed it.. The stator is bolted to the inside of that cover. There is a set of 3 wires coming out of that and going to a plug under the seat and sort of under the battery box. The regulator/rectifier is at the bottom and behind the center of the Radiator. It is held on by 2 10 Millimeter bolts.
  20. Man I was by your place on Thursday.. I can stop in sometime and have a look but those chins are all the same so you must have something else going on..
  21. This happened to me as well. Once I turned the clamp so it was out of the way the stand went all the way up and never dragged again
  22. What color is your 84?
  23. This is what I do as well BUT I have noticed that if I pay attention to where I am going or keep focused ahead things work well and when I start looking to see if something is coming to maybe avoid stopping then I get in trouble.. I'm learning to commit to the stop THEN look and all is good.. Where it is the very worst is if I THINK I can make a turn without stopping and then something is coming and I have to stop mid turn then I really come close to losing it.. I'm really trying not to do that any more..
