Indian regulator/rectifier group buy
Dano replied to Dano's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Hey guys, thanks for the replies. Until I get to talk with Dave from Indian, I won't know how many units we can get. That's why I stated in the other thread that I wanted everyone to get at least one each. If he has enough for the full order, then you can get all that you want. Not trying to knock any body out of what they want, just trying to help all. Jack, if you want to PM me with helpfull tips, I'd appreciate it. Kinda got an idea, but not positive and all info would be helpfull. I'll let everyone know on Monday nite what we've come up with. Thanks, Dan -
This will be the new thread where we will handle the communications for the reg/rec group buy. Dave with Indian Motorcycle is out of the office till Monday, so I expect to hear from him then on the status. Here is the current list I have and the units requested, please reply if you are not on here. Dan

Glad to meet you and Terry. Also glad to see those 2 84 reds together. We look forward to the next time! Dan & Rose

How much fuel did you put in when you filled it back up? You should be getting 38-42 mpg, which if you put in 6 gallons, would be 38.5 mpg (sorry, youll have to do your own conversion!). Not too bad, I would say! Dan

I applaud your actions, sir. I would have done the same thing. I was not able to serve but grew up in the house of a Korean vet, Former State Commander of the American Legion and Past Chef de Guerre of the 40 & 8. I carry a deep sense of respect for our flag and country. My thoughts have always been, if you don't like the way we live and defend our right to our freedoms, then you have the right to move to another country of your choice! Once again thank you sir, Dan

Glad you guys are finally coming into the 21st century there, Allan!

Remember guys, this is a call for an annual meet at the Hub, central in the US for a lot of us. It is not for the Int'l rally, but more like Asheville, Vogel and some of the other annual get-togethers that we have. If any one wants to do this same type deal in your area, plan it and we will come! There is just a heck of a lot of us that really enjoyed the area around the Hub, along with a great place to stay. Not saying we won't "Venture" out to the other meets, but we would like to return here, also. BTW, like this year, the wife will probably have to return to work at school early August, but don't let that interfere with your date planning (even tho I'll be hurt if I can't come!). Dano

Looking at the bike, one way to tell is to look at the wheels and engine cases. I've NEVER seen a set of wheels THAT CLEAN! I don't think you could clean then that much! I'll bet his reserve is around 4k, might go higher than that. Of course, you'd have to do a carb overhaul, fluids etc. If the bike has set that long, may be other rubber issues to deal with, with a teardown and rebuild. Congrats to the future owner, she IS a beaut!

Hated seeing you just sit in that chair all last week John, glad to see you out on 2 wheels instead of 4. DON"T overdo it and don't let the Nav catch you! Dano

updated Regulator/Rectifier Group Buy
Dano replied to Squeeze's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
OK, after seeing no one else step up, I will assume the mantle of this group buy. There will be a few ground rules laid out, just to make sure everything is fair. 1) I will contact the seller and see how many he is willing to part with on this single purchase/single ship to me. 2) Your money will need to be posted to my PayPal account before the purchase, as I do not have the extra funds to pay for you. 3) Everyone (depending on the amount available) will be able to purchase at least one unit. Multi-unit sales to a single person will be fulfilled after everyone gets one. We will be able to confirm the total amount available before you send your money and order to me. 4) Shipping will be via USPS Priority flat rate boxes, probably around 4.95US for that, Canada extra, I will check into that. 5) First come, first served. I will check the original post for the correct order. 6) I will check into how many plastic connectors he can supply, hopefully enough for our order. However, on the terminals and weather covers, we may have to pursue that separately. These should be available at your local electronics shop. 7) Finally (or I HOPE so!), I have to fit this into my otherwise boring, dreary life (yeah right, what's THAT!), so do not expect any miracles. I will try and do my best. Let the b******g begin! I've gotta go out and work on my daughters car now, will be back on here around 10 or so. Dan -
Thank you Big Tom and Taters, for representing the rest of us who cannot make it. We appreciate everything that you and Bob are doing for us in our behalf. Dano

Hey Loadmaster, welcome to the wonderfull world of customizing! Not sure how tall you are, I'm 6'2 with a 34 inseam. Put a Saddlemans Travelcade with a Rick Butler mod on my 84, raises me up about 3"s for a better leg position. You could have Rick redo your stock seat with his memory foam trick, probably help you there. A backrest if you don't have one is almost mandatory (comes with the Travelcade). For your numbness, get a "wrist-rest" at your local shop, about 10-15 bucks, will take the strain off of having to hold the grip so tight (just did 560 miles one way home last Friday, no numbness!) and you could add a throttle lock if you don't have cruise. Of course you can't use either one in a group ride, so the wrist rest is a good add-on. Handlebars are fully adjustable also. Footboards and heel-toe shifters are out there, but it seems like the guys that are under 6' or so have better luck with them, due to the angle of the ankle. No forward controls available, unless you wanted to make your own. Good luck with your mods, feel free to ask any questions you may have. Glad you enjoy your ride. Dano

I have automatic route notification(head slap by Nav!); I wanna stop there to eat (again by Nav!); blur of the trees going by tells me my speed and the shock of the sound barrier; lights are still bright (voltage OK), clock on dash (try THAT one G2'rs!), tell Nav what we're doing (set-up) Most Indiana guys don't need high-tech to get around! Well, we usually leave the Barcalounger in front of the TV where it belongs!! And how do YOU listen to your Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons? In your cassette player on a brand new bike? :witch_brew: We still ride 1st gens because they haven't come up with a better model yet!

I stopped at the truck stop and bought a new Atlas for about ten bucks..........

"Bout 40 years! Seems to me that you're the one already on the Couch, Buddy! Hopefully you've got a mini-bike or something else in the garage to get your thrill ride on! Maybe I need to go to Branson and get a job as one of those "re-creation" actors, like Elvis or Marilynn! My job here is done.......... Nope, just sayin' I've got another twenty years at LEAST before I think about it!

Just wish I made his money when he was here

Just let us know the date, we'll be there. Wouldn't miss it for anything (almost)! Dan

There is a paint chart at Venturerider.org/paint (might be in the tech section too), But I believe thats a Urishi Black, not sure of the brown. Good luck with the frame, gonna change out the whole front end? Dano -
If you always stay the same, life gets pretty boring, wait a minute...... WHO went back to a 1st gen and is moving to Texas???????? As far as the latter statement, I'M NOT THAT OLD YET!!!!!!! Oh, BTW, who WAS that on that blue 2 tone 1st gen that had just come back from the "Jasper Disaster" route 74 run with a s**t-eating grin on his face?! NOW I know who I am, that other guy (Danob11) was just trying to find himself!!!! BTW, other than Dale, probably the only guy at the rally who didn't strain his neck just looking 'ya in the eyes!!!!! You saved me some typing there Mini! Heck, if Lowell isn't on a 2nd gen at his age, I figur' I got a LOT of time left on my 1st gen! (Ask Roadkill who was kickin' his back tire trying to get him to keep up with Ozark last Thursday!!!) On another side note, dropped in a K&N air filter and with those Macs on there,,,,,,,, ALMOST picked up the front tire goin' into 2nd gear! Pics to come.......... Dano

I've been working on Don for a year or so now for a name change, the feller that had it didn't choose to join up, so now I've got it! From here on out, with no regrets or going back, here on the board and out there in VR land I'll now be known as Dano. Formerly known as Danob11. Plus it saves a lot of typing!!!!

Glad you two made it back home safe and sound Peg, great pictures. Heck, we couldn't even do the rally without the trailer, can't imagine 2 weeks! Dano
