  1. That road looks pretty tame Scotty, we'll have to take you down to Arkansas for the "Jasper Disaster" or the "I turned the wrong way on 121" roads. Heck, even the road south out of the Hub was a lot better than that! Pretty scenery, tho!
  2. Sorry to hear of the torrential downpour there Mini, I've got the opposite here. Beautiful day, but too much rain pouring out of my sinuses (bad cold) to even think about getting the scoot out. Suns down now, so I guess I can get over feeling sorry about myself. I sure hope it clears up for you, must be gettin' some cabin fever without Jeff around. You guys have a good ride if you can make it. Dan
  3. Better change your oil and see what it looks like. If it's all creamy, then there is oil in there from somewhere. Could be an intercooler (twinkie) leak also, just a thin rubber seal between the two chambers.
  4. I don't have any pics, but his profile might have some.
  5. No, but you could PM him, he's on here at least a couple times a week. He's probably back at school now, it'll give him more time to get on here.
  6. One of our newer members, CTraylor, made a set of straight pipes off of the crossover, said it sounded great but the wife said it was too loud. He added some baffles from a set of Harley pipes. I rode behind him at the Int'l rally and that thing sounds like a small block Chevy now! Might be something to look into. Dan
  7. Wow, talk about looking for the needle in the haystack......... Good luck, I'm thinkin' they're kinda rare, almost like a TCI for a 90-93 MKII!
  8. I'm not like a lot of people, I don't much care what others think of me, what I ride, how I dress, etc. I do what makes ME happy. I don't need rules, regulations and someone else telling me how I need to do something or what to wear, etc. That is what character, morals and faith do for you. I follow this in work, play, family and religion. I'm not saying that clubs like Star don't have a place, but it seems to me that most that belong have the need to be around others just like them (I'm NOT bashing anyone here, these are just life choices for them), almost akin to HOG or other brand-specific clubs that are out there. Almost a pack mentality. That's why I chose to join THIS group of malcontents, because we just like to ride! We don't care much about what you ride, of course we reserve the right to dog you for that choice! What this group cares about the most is the well-being of our members and friends, making sure their scoot is in proper working order (even going across state and country borders to do so) and the opportunity to meet a great diverse cross-section of folks from wayyyyyyyy up Nort' in Canada (Eh, Charlie?!) to south of the border, from the west coast to east coast, even guys flying in from the Netherlands just for Maintenance Day( Welcome again Jonas). We have members across the globe, conversing with them regularly, sharing the pains and happiness both as they come along. I guess that's why it's hard for me to understand the "clique-ishness" of these riding groups. Sorry if this too long, just felt I needed to get this out. Maybe there are some more of you that feel this way. I guess that's why we're here! Dan
  9. 67 here today, had too much other work to do around here that I've been putting off to ride. Gonna try to get out tomorrow for a bit, wifes going to the Colts game so I have about 7 hours to hide that ride in!
  10. Cycle World mag just hit the door yesterday, they have a bagger Strat with a fairing on it pictured as a new model from Yammi next year.
  11. 52, most of the time I feel 30 (Except when I'm waiting on the ibuprofen to kick in in the morning), 25 yr old bike, 23 yr old marriage, 22 yr old daughter, 17 yr old boy. I can still outwork the 17 year old ( but I feel it that night!)
  12. Finally got off my butt Wednesday and sent it in......... Patiently waiting....... Taking a nap......... Are they here yet??????? Ok, I'll shut up and go back to my corner now........
  13. A lot of us have changed the r/r to a new Shindegan r/r (ebay item # Shindengen Voltage Regulator / Rectifier (#250484850538) ) that we get from Indian Motorcycle. Rated 50 amps with air cooling. Just did over 50 of them on a group buy. Runs about 40 bucks online at the above link.
  14. Could be the gear indicator switch, unfortunaley it's located deep on the left side behing the clutch slave cylinder. PIA to get to. You might be able to check voltage at the connector, check out the schematic for 1st gens they've got posted now.
  15. Thanks for the story Bob, loved every minute of it. Did the tree thing with an old jeep years ago, hit a tree off roading (old rusted out 79 CJ7), just wrapped the chain around a tree, reversed it a few times and straightened the frame back out! Good job!
  16. Good luck to him on his flight, thanks for the update
  17. So glad to hear you're still with us Karl. Seems like hospital personnel did their job, leave them out of it. Take her to the wall, tho! She is the only one that caused you harm, the others did what they could to help you. Make sure you get itemized for everything yesterday, she should be the one to pay for all of that. Don't demonize the hospital, sounds like they had your back, thankfully! Keep us up to date, Dan
  18. Looks like Hal is considering a trip to the "darkside" in that pic! BTW Brad, you look too much like Keith Richards of the Stones! You might want to change your career! Squid, that's what happens when you leave the good country!
  19. Touche' mon frere`, touche
  20. Da**, Bob. Don't know what else to say!

    Here it is

You picked up on that, eh Bob? I hope so Don. Of course, I won't know till I get her cranking over and started to see how deep we gotta dig into the pockets, but I'm hoping a carb clean-out, fog the cylinders for a couple of days and then some hand cranking will bring it back to life. It'll be a good basic bike for someone in the spring! Wish I could spin the oil pump like on a car engine to get some fresh oil to everything first, though. Hmmm, might just pull the side cover and clutch to do that. Sure would help lubricate those bearings before I try to turn it over.

    Here it is

There is definately a lot of that to do! You'll be more than welcome, Tom.
  23. Squid and the "Space Wagon" were made for each other.....
  24. Sounds like the exact inverse of what he saw! Except your bike was running, Dan!!!!!
  25. Next time it happens, go to www.malwareu.org and they help you get rid of it without having to re-format your 'puter.
