  1. I think you're on the right track Jack, it has to be something in the pushrod route and function that is causing this. Either it is the cup which is not returning, the oil seal at the left side of the case could be getting hard and not allowing full retraction of the rod when cold, gunk behind the cup from the hydraulic fluid or the piston cup could be pitted and catching on the slave cylinder. Might as well pull the slave cylinder, pull out the long rod from the left side of the case (tricky, but can be done), pull the short rod from the clutch side and check all pieces. Roll the long rod on a flat piece of glass or steel to check for warpage (might not be much), change the fluid and reassemble. As far as the full plate at the back of the clutch pack, remove the plates and friction discs, remove the small spring wire around the outside, remove the half plate and replace with a full disc. You don't need to re-install the spring wire, restack your plates (hopefully you kept them in order) make sure to match up the notches properly with the clutch boss cage. (Do I got that right fellas?!)
  2. Pegs are nice, want a set myself one of these days, that cupholder, if mounted on the passenger grab bars or elsewhere in the wind, WILL manage to detach itself and roll down the road till runover by a cager........... Don't ask me how I know (BTW, I still got the wife thinkin' she left it somewhere!)
  3. Great news to hear Karl, and we certainly hope that surgery goes off without a hitch next time! You kinda feel they know about the previous snafu and are trying to make you feel good about it. Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year for you and your daughter, Dan
  4. Who me? You mean I actually have to log off of here to go out and take care of responsibilties? What a tragedy!

    Why?

If "it" hadn't happened, then we wouldn't need to know "WHY"
  6. I never shot nobody I didn't have to. Best line ever written. Says it all!
  7. He'd have a bit of a belly to work off first............
  8. I have these in my XVZ1200 service manual (LIT-11616-XV-13), but it'll have to wait till later this evening for me to scan and send.

    Tinnitus

Same here, had it since I used to build nightclubs and have to check speakers (while open) from 78-85. I'm not talking a small club by the way, we used to use the old "Earthquake" movie bass speaker cabinets with 2000 watt amps pushing each cabinet. Only cure is to have background noise on (a 1st gen works perfectly, no WHINE!), but not good at night 'cause the wif can't go to sleep with any noise!
  10. Gonna finish up puttin' that 350 small block in my sons 79 Camaro this weekend, just gotta go to the junkyard and find a power steering bracket and bolts, finish hooking the headers up to the pipes, set timing and install the distributor then fire that puppy up!
  11. But you guys missed the whole thing! IT HAS NEW BRAKES AND TIRES, NEW BRAKES AND TIRES! Did I mention it has NEW BRAKES AND TIRES!

    Why?

Why you ask? Because we have more posts and views on this post talking about nothing than they do on that stoopid toilet paper post! That just goes to show, you can talk more **** than you can wipe up!
  15. Tear apart and refresh an 87 MKII, normal stuff on the 84.
  16. Good luck with the move Carl, hope it at least goes smooth. Of course you know you will never finish those trim items and the paint now that you're moving in. Always seems to work out that way.
  17. But now I know how not to get caught at what I used to get caught at! If I could just remember what that was........
  18. Dano

    Why?

But you've got to remember, if the "why" had already been discussed here, the thread would already be 4 pages long with numerous and a few and even some thrown in for good measure!
  19. You should'a known that Squidley wasn't done movin down there. Of course he'd be bringing some weather along for the ride!

    volt meter

Dang, a minite too late again!
  21. The sensor plugs into the YICS port on #2 carb intake boot. No modifications to the carb needs to be made other than plugging the old port. Make sure the line has the resistor installed and you should be good to go.
  22. I got out for 45 minutes on Saturday, I never completely "put-it-up" for the winter, never know when you might get a 40d F day with dry roads to sneak one in! Ya gots to charge the battery and keep the gas fresh somehow!
  23. I finally got out yesterday for about 45 minutes between announcing 3 girls basketball games and my sons games last nite. First time in about a month or so....... Needless to say, I blew the carbon out of her REAL good. Matter of fact, got a little twinge in my right wrist today from some throttle thrashing. Wasn't enough, tho. Just a tease.
  24. You probably have cold solder joints in there, which is indicated by the E-1 indication. Pull the control head out and open it up, check the solder joints at the connection pins and resolder. You can also do a thread search on it, which will give you the exact procedure.
  25. You would be correct on this one, sir. The 83-85's are a PIA to bleed, start with the front caliper, then the anti-dive, THEN do the rear caliper. If you want REALLY good brakes, go with the stainless steel lines, switch out your forks to 86 & up and go with the R1/R6 calipers and bigger master cylinder. You could also de-link the front to the rear and use an early VMax brake line set to connect the fronts. Good winter projects. Dan
