  1. The "tang" or stinger is removeable, if you look at the underneath pic, you can see the hole that the pin goes thru, I just didn't install it for the pics, there's also a hole in the rear cross piece for the chain to hook into. I pulled my Craftsman trailer to Dons and down to the IR last year without any concerns, once I rebuilt the trailer and moved the box back about 6" to get the load corrected. A small 6 can (or bottle!) cooler will set easily on the platform tied down with some short bungie cords, ends up just below the license plate (for you LEOs out there!).
  2. I had posted some last year after I built it, but here's some I took last night. I use 1-1/2"x 1/4" flat bar for the horizontal bars, tied in at the muffler bolts, 1" flat bar for the vertical support bars (you gotta change out those top fender bolts to grade 8 tho, don't ask me how I know!); 1-1/4" angle for the rear cross piece between the runners, flat plate for the cooler rack and an 1-1/4" Class 1 stinger and tube. Everything is stick welded, extremely durable, offsets are built in to get around the rear pumpkin and swingarm. I'd probably go 150 + shipping if somebody wanted one, you buy your own stinger and ball (saves on shipping costs). These could go on either with or without the chrome rear "bumper", a small modification to the inside chrome piece (the up-sweeping piece) for the vertical riser to get past it is neccesary, but easily achievable with basic tools. Watchya' think? Ya, I know she's dirty, hasn't had that spring bath yet.........
  3. Yep, still much the same, slower than a 1st gen!!!!!!
  4. Good look there Mike, that's next on the list for me,,,,,,, Now you need to set that off with a custom platform hitch that I make for the 1st gens,,,:mo money:
  5. The only other thing that will illuminate the leds is some type of capacitor, but it should have lost its charge by now, unless somewhere there is a small dry cell that holds memory while the battery is disconnected and the popping sound you heard is indicative of another problem.
  6. Dumb question, do you still have the trickle charger hooked up to the wiring?
  7. Way to go Brad, I bet Lonnas glad you're gonna be outta the house for awhile now! BTW, aren't you supposed to be at work right now???????? I guess we'll have to listen to you moan about not being able to ride now, what with work and all..........
  8. Hey Dan, where was Shari at during this time Brad's in Milwaukee? I'm just sayin.........
  9. It's my fartzheimers kickin in Dale, PLEASE apologize to Cindi for me, I don't need HER mad at me! Hope you guys get back on here for awhile, we miss ya'll! You gonna make MD this year? Dan
  10. Gues he just wanted to tease us with that smoked brisquet comment, just like Dale......... Bobbi must have been gone to the store at the time...
  11. That just takes all the fun out of it! Glad you had fun and a good hook-up with those guys, can't believe Naugh-T didn't ride that new bike! Oh, wait a minute, maybe Brads still fixin' the paint from that rollover!
  12. Welllllll, look who they had haulin' it! I'm just sayin', that's all! I see plenty of the up armored new style personnel carriers going thru Indy on there way somewhere, looks like they'd be fun to try out, but I doubt they would let me , either!
  13. OK, I stand (or sit rather!) corrected on the washer, I've just never seen that much gap between the carrier and the swingarm.
  14. I would have thought that you guys would've tried that rig out in the woods after lunch, what good is transporting a rig like that and not having some fun?!!!
  15. It's not done right, the swingarm should be up against the brake mount, the washer needs to go against the hub. Here's a couple pics of what it should look like. I know mine doesn't look the same, but this is off a MKII and my MKI looks the same, 'course I don't know what bike you've got.........
  16. Hey Dale how's it going? Long time no hear from. I trust that you Bobbi and Haley are doing just fine(?). Long time since we've seen you or Cinderfella on here, it was kinda getting boring with just that Big Tom fella walkin' around here with his red panties on.........
  17. Glad you had a good response with them, they ae a local dealer to me and I have worked with Chris numerous times over the years. I keep stressing to him the importance of keeping our members happy!
  18. Good going Jeff, I thought I'd surprise you and not let you know it was coming! Ya MIGHT get a couple days of riding in if you get busy and get that thing installed!
  19. Must be nice to have playtoys like that at work to use!! Looking good!
  20. For us regular size guys out there,,,,, I'm just ordering 2 larges with no pockets:dancefool:
  21. The backrest itself will work, but you have to have a mount from a MKI to fit the 83 tho.
  22. Hey Don, if you're ever in the neighborhood and wanna re-live your youth a bit, I still have my 77 IT400 out in the shed, the boy won't let me get rid of it............ Of course tht pic with him was taken a few years ago, he's now big nuff to start and ride it himself, he did that last fall when I wasn't around....
  23. Didn't see this thread out there before, but anyone who knows someone with the starter clutch problem be it 1st gen Venture or Vmax, this mod does the same for both. Feel free to pass out my contact info: danob11@comcast.net email 317-370-0139 cell One reminder tho, the price for non-VR.org members is $295.00, gaskets priced the same at an additional $15. I do appreciate a heads up when someone is going to send their rotor to me, as it helps to make sure I have parts in stock. I want to thank all of you for your help in getting the word out on this repair, the more we help, the more that can ride! Dan
  24. Yes, it'll work. Years are 83, 84-89, 90-93.
