84 xvz1200 standard 1/4 mile tips
Dano replied to PEIslander's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I've got a neighbor down the street who builds Hardleys for guys that want to run. The first time he saw me on my bike he told me that there was no way in h**l that he would run me. Guess I'll find a couple of kids and work on that burn-out procedure (Thanks Jean!).........- 44 replies

Glad to see you on here and that you're safe and sound (welll,,), look forward to seeing you after you get back. Have you got that little Honda knock-off turboed yet? We need some more pics!

Thanks Gary, that's a great pic!

Looks great Gary, I was thinking the same for mine. Could you give us a shot showing us the bottom of the rack? I have some ideas but I like to see what others have done also. Thanks, Dan

You forgot to tell them about the straight pipes you put on there! Makes it sound sweet. If the new owner doesn't want them, I'll trade you a stock set of mufflers to put on there! Good luck on the sell, hope it goes quick, that's a real nice bike. Dan

Swifty, I would have thought you would have been more scared of the full body scanners! I know we would if your pics ever made it out into the public!

From what I understand, and this is limited, a methane gas bubble came up the pipe, expanding as it reached the lower pressures around it as it rose up the pipe. By the time it got to the blow-out preventer, it was too massive a bubble (and pressure) to contain, came on up the pipe into the drilling room. There it spilled out into another room that had ignition sources, this is where the explosion came from. The box they are trying to use had some type of "ice"-type crystals form inside of it, causing them to move it off to the side and see what's going on with that. They are currently in the process of drilling a "relief" or plugging hole off to the side so they can cap the well till they can set up a new rig to use it. Comcast.net home page can get you to this info, that's where I found it. And PS Monty, nothing political about this, except the government getting in the way again instead of letting the proffesionals do their job (as usual).

Thanks Gary, that's a nice pic for those that need to know what we're talking about.

You could set the timer for a longer delay, to allow for things like that, even warm up time to allow for battery recharge from starting. Initial ballast load (ie: amperage) is at initial voltage application to saturate the coil, after that it tails off. Timer will reset upon removal of trigger voltage, wherever it comes from. I think starter circuit will not allow proper operation of the timer, unless you put a latching ciruit in there. TOO much, just keep it simple (KISS).
-
You could also install a delay timer relay in the circuit, just before the ballast (even a 2 pole for high/low), triggered from the ignition circuit, re-set upon ignition recycle, quick, easy and painless without going thru all this other stuff.......... JMHO from being a controls freak for 30 years

I am also varied in my tastes, but road music for me is the "concept" or story albums, some Miles Davis, any Clapton, early Chicago with Terry Kath (still have my CTA album), a little Willie and Weylon thrown in for good measure.

No, but if you burn me a copy and send it to me I'll forever be in your debt

Sounds good here, WMP took about 12 seconds to load. Bet Annie liked that unplugged AC/DC! PS.... How about a little acoustic Clapton to finish out the night?

1st gen fork tube length?????????
Dano replied to painterman67's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Progressive springs are the manufacturer, called that because of the "progressive" stiffness of the spring as it compresses. Usually only run about 65-75 for a pair of them, but I would recommend a rebuild as you install them, especially if you don't know if they've been rebuilt before. You gotta remember, that's what is keeping your front wheel planted on the ground, in curves and stopping. Worth the money in the long run.
