It's that big trunk on there, the only flat vertical surface on the bike! Otherwise they'd have to try and hit a mirror (tight beam) or some other very small area to return the signal to the gun!

Anyone recognize this part?

Just wondering if it came from the little rubber plug that goes between the oil gallery pipe and the oil pan? Doesn't look very big at all.- 10 replies

You don't wanna get me started on 5thTurd and how they handle their deposits, debits, credits and the weekends,,,,,,,,, Suffice it to say that I'll have a new bank in a week or so. Tired of the monster mega banks. Gonna look at a few credit unions around here. And Boomer, send me some of those pygmies to donate to our local branch........

Almost looks like an oil sleeve (kinda like a crank seal repair kit) but I don't recognize it from having my bike apart. Might have been left over from the build process! Can't imagine how it was in there loose with no engine damage!- 10 replies

Don't know about the 83mph, but I DO know that if you own a MK1 1st gen, that you are almost invisible to radar, laser and lidar. I've been hit by all 3 at varying distances, and they all look at their guns, then me, then their guns again and just start shaking their heads and motion for me to slow down. It's either that or they know they can't catch up! You can ask Muffin about his adventure with an officer buddy trying to "verify" his speed!

They all can be brought back, it just depends on how deep the pocket and inversely the amount of time you've got. Seems like those are always opposite each other.

Getting started!!!

Hi Kelly and welcome to the site. Initial observations are: Click on the search button along the top of the screen, input your train of thought or just look thru the 1st gen tech section for your answers, most all procedures are under there. DON'T switch to synthetic oil. It will start leaking like a sieve! Gaskets are used to the dino oil and don't like the synthetic. On the shifter shaft- there is a brass bushing where the shaft passes thru the side cover, that is probably where your play is coming from. You can order new or have one cut for you. Best place for parts so far is www.partshark.com Great prices and good service, complete parts diagrams on there. The lower case has to be removed foor the seal replacement, as there is a locating pin attached to the seal that precludesit being changed without splitting the cases. You need new valve (cam) cover gaskets, and you might as well replace the bolt rubbers too while you have them out. Use the 2nd gen gaskets as they have a lip on them to help keep them in place whilst trying to weasel them back in place. Might want to read up on doing the valve shim adjustment also while you have the covers off. Windshield- Just replace it As far as replacement trim pieces, start a new thread here with what you're looking for, a lot of guys have stuff laying around they MIGHT want to get rid of, secondly go to ebay but check the pricing first, some things have a tendency to go extremely high....... As far as the scoop, some have, some don't. Some say it blocks air getting to the bottom of the oil pan to help cool the oil and the front exhaust. I've got a chrome one I'm thinking about installing on my 84, still debating as to do it or not. Lastly-- You have violated the first rule of our website which is PICS, PICS and MORE PICS of you and your bike!!!! We can't possibly put you thru the wringer without them!!!! Good luck and ask away, Dano PS-- Pay the 12 bucks and join up! I just saved that much in anguish and hand-wringing! -
Don't worry, they usually make their appearances in the heat of the afternoon!!

Carb Diaphragm info...finally
Dano replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If you're only revving to 6500, then you've got a dead cylinder or 2. These bikes will wrap to 8500 without floating the valves. Synch job will help, but I'd pull my plugs and take a look at them. I just pulled my front wheel off the ground a few days ago when I banged 2nd gear, so that tells you how it should pull. Dan- 122 replies

New here and a question
Dano replied to willysman's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Welcome to the site, spend the 12 bucks to join and then buy that bike! For around 800 to 1000 you can completely rebuild that bike from front to back, any rotating, rubber, bearing or wear item included. Best way to learn what your riding and the durability of it is to rip it down and rebuild it! I did mine almost 3 years ago and this thing is bullet proof. Matter of fact, pulled the front wheel last night (wheely, not off the bike!) as I was leaving my buddies house, a very exciting, fast (if you want) and at the same time docile if that's what you're looking for. Once again,,,,, Buy it and don't look back! -
I thought Squidley was gonna say "YOU"!!!!!!

Not sayin' nuthin', but you MIGHT be the one he's worried about.......... I'm just sayin........ Damn I'm gonna miss going this year

Change it all out to a 95+ efficient furnace with a Seer 13 AC condenser and coil, you'll save money in the future. Biggest thing is to make sure you have enough return air coming into the system, last contractor I had do mine screwed that up, I let someone else do it (came from the wif), ended up with ONE 12" return downstairs in the floor. In the system I designed and installed in 95, had a return in each room up by the ceiling (9' high, > 1800 sq ft 2 story), used a 75k BTU propane horizontal furnace down in the crawl, it would cycle even if outside temps went below zero! Also a comfortable air flow, no cold or hot spots. Now I have both!
