They probably did it right the first time but just didn't get the bearings seated just right. Happens almost everytime you loosen up a set of bearings. Just reset them and you'll be fine.

I knew I should have gotten on this thread at 12:01! Now Yammers staying up all night just to say it first!

Ah Crap Now the starter clutch

Loop a rope around the rotor hub and then tie it around the upper frame. Not real tight on the tension and it'll stop the rotor from flying too far. The upgrades are always available, just PM me when you're ready and we'll get it fixed. Dano -
I'll turn 53 on the second of next month, I've had my 84 for close to 4 years now and I rate it better than the H2750 I had when I was 18. (Can't believe I lived through owning that bike!). I now have an 87 in the garage undergoing a slowwwwww rehab. Dan

1st gen Headlight
Dano replied to CrazyHorse's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Sounds like you might have some grounding problems there, Jimbob. Check the main ground at the right front lower motor mount, at the battery, there's a smaller ground point along the left side fairing frame. You have too much going wrong all of the sudden for all those circuits to have problems. You may also have to pull your ignition switch out to clean the contacts in there. just my thoughts.......... for what they're worth and sometimes that ain't much! -
A 1st gen would spin that sucker right off the ground like a helicopter.............

Welcome to the site Briley, we're glad to have you. If you've already checked us out, you KNOW this is like Hotel California- you can check out any time you want, but you can NEVER leave! Great work on the rehab, I totally rebuilt my 84 a couple of years ago, it's the only way to go if you don't want to worry about your new steed. Feel free to ask any questions you may have, we'll try to be honest with our answers! Looking forward to meeting you sometime, you have a lot of members over there in Ohio to ride with. Set up a little Meet & Eat with a DQ involved, you never know who might show up! Dan

After 30 + years I finally did it - not for faint of heart

Looks like last fall when I was trimming the Lilac bushes and used the trimmer to cut my thumb and nail down the middle........... about 5/8ths of an inch from the tip down thru...... Looked at it and went------ "Now THAT's gonna hurt!" Went in the house, washed it out, packed it with Neosporin, wrapped it in a couple of bandaids for about three months (NOT the same band-aid, you dummies!), nerve still tingles a little, but hardly any scar and the nails grown back out....... I never get hurt at work, just at home like most of us.... -

Nice ride Charlie, bet you're glad that you're off that 2nd gen now! -

That's why I built my trailer hitch with a platform to carry a small cooler on it, so that we always have plenty of water with us when we ride. Came into good use when we were on the Lake Michigan ride during the IR when a couple of riders needed some fresh cool water to drink. Also keeps your cost down, load up some bottles that only cost you 15 cents each versus a dollar or more from the convenient store cooler! For those that need a cool=down on the ride, shade, water and time is the only thing to use! I even climbed into the cooler at the DQ we stopped at on the above mentioned ride to help cool down the body a bit! Use whatever means neccesary and available when needed. JMHO Dano

Got it yesterday, managed to squeeze between two storms on the way up and back..... nice 8 hour run. Pics to come later.........

Jeesh! Can't get on here for a couple of days and look what happens! I STILL notice Gil doesn't have his new handle "U-Turn" under his name yet! Hey Gil, you only get blamed for what you cause, I'm just sorry the kids had to help you out so much with the correct directions! As far as them "laying down the steel", perhaps the toys are a little too big for them to handle just yet! I'm thinkin' that "Fish" may still be a little bit "wet" behind the ears for such a large machine. Maybe some training wheels might be in order! But then again, "Flounder" may be a better name than Fish for THAT boy! Just glad they were able to provide us our story line for this rally, you KNOW somebody has to step up to plate! Dan

I just ran up through Middlebury yesterday to pick up that camper and managed to squeeze in between the 2 storms that came through northern Indiana yesterday. We had a "land spout" come down just west of us, news footage was pretty cool.

Noticed last night when I went to log in that SOMEBODY (I won't say his name but he just moved to Texas and likes "Cupcakes!) is havin' a bit o fun with my screen name. I suppose he'll jump in here soon and let us all know WHY! Dano "aka Jinxed" aka Skinny SQUIDLEY:shock3:

Hey Rick, glad to see you, Marilyn and the kids survived another trip down into the states! Rose REALLY liked your camper, guess I better start saving up my $$$$$! Good to see you guys and the young ones again, look forward to the next time! Dan PS Yeah, I saw my name change, I guess Squid's having a little fun right now!

Suggestions for carb adjustments?
Dano replied to bkuhr's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just guessing, but you're not getting any fire to #4. 2 & 3 probably have the idle jets out to far. 2 to 2-1/2 turns is about right, unless a float is stuck. Check for any vacuum leaks. Did you pull the YICS chamber out and plug the intake manifold tubes? Good place to start right there if you didn't. Have you checked the TCI inputs and outputs? Just a couple of things for you........ Dano -
Yep, change your outlook on life and become a capitalist, freedom loving, take care of yourself kind of person and the whole world opens up to ya! PS It took you 5 years to find someone to ride with you!
-
I was smarter than that, one of Lances (Bikedropper) Bud Lights did me fine, but Rose and the ladies ALSO stepped up to the plate with the Sue Brew.......... Quite tipsy after that, I believe :dancefool:

All three of you couples are making me envious, I'd love to still be riding. But it was hot enough yesterday to make me want to turn over 'cause the front side was cooked! Seriously, glad to hear you guys are enjoying your rides. :Venture:
