  1. When under extreme duress by liberal use of the right-wrist-twist technique, the oil rushes to the back of the sump, exposing the contacts for the oil switch and sending a ground to the CMU input and triggering the light. If it does it randomly, then the wire is chaffed somewhere and touching a grounding point.
  2. OK, sorry to hear that, we'll meet next time down the road somewhere.
  3. Just checkin' in here.... plans still good, I'll be meeting Buckshot and his crew in Athens, then over to you guys. looking forward to the trip, did 200 miles today around here just to get warmed up!!

    My Nipples ?

Be nice if they were 1/2" instead of 3/8ths.
  5. It "slings" the oil around the stator to keep it cooler. I have seen them mounted at the thread end of the bolt (on the 87 I have in the garage) and sticking out the head end of the bolt. You would do better on prices to check out www.partshark.com tho, much better than most on their pricing.
  6. No, this is a camper trailer I picked up a couple of months ago. Just unloading it. I'm supposed to meet the guy at 50 and 47. Is this close to where you guys are talking about? I'd like to tie the two together to save time. I do, however, build trailer hitches for 1st gens!
  7. Compare the prices from your dealer to www.partshark.com I believe you'll be pleasantly surprised at the price difference. I would change the fluid first and bleed it and see what happens before I change out the clutch plates. Unneccesary cost. These things don't wear out unless your name is Earl and you do wheelies all the time!
  8. Gary, what do you do about being caught in the rain? Is the unit weatherproof?
  9. I thunk he dun alredy did!
  10. I wanna know what the sign says in the middle of the dam!
  11. There is a knob on the front of the engine, it's black and sits between the header pipes. Look at it closely, "off" should be at the 2 o'clock position. That's the drain valve. Check the coolant reservoir inside the right fairing making sure it's up to the line. You could also get a cheap infrared temperature gauge and check the temps at the thermostat.
  12. Do a google search on the brand and model number, see what that brings up.
  13. If you're thinking of also hooking onto a car, change the square connector to a 5 way flat. Otherwise go to a trailer sales, hitch install dealer to purchase the opposite square plug. Wiring is as follows: White- ground to your frame Brown- running lights Green- right turn signal Yellow- Left turn signal Blue- Brake lights This is assuming you have separate turn/brake lights. Most cycle trailers do. You'll have to consult your manual for the bikes wiring code, it's probably different or do what I did and just look at it! Solder the wires together and use shrink tube on the joints, the only way to secure them properly. Or use shrink tube butt splices when you cut the bikes wires to attach the plug wiring. Second best way. Good luck, Dano
  14. A little weather when you're on a mission? Never let it stop me! Glad you got out to test the important things!
  15. Head up to Parkersburg on Sunday around 1:30- 2 o'clock and join us for lunch! Check the thread "Indy to Parkersburg" for more info! Dano
  16. Sure 'Bug, we will, but when are you gonna get YOUR bike out of the shed and ride???
  17. Tell him we gotta see that low-rider to believe it exists. Can't help it them kids cain't handle their scoots........ actually she has a good excuse just being on a bike for two weeks, however there's no excuse for "Bike-Dropper"!

    Resignation

Hmmmm, sounds like you all figured out what it means to be a "true" Venture rider! Don't need an excuse, a map(well, some of us!), a destination or a group of riders to enjoy ourselves, our spouses and our bikes! Just an open road, sunshine is preferable, a few twisties and a nice stop or two along the way. Recipe for a good day of riding! Of course, we'll never turn down an invite for a good ride with friends, but it's never been a pre-requisite for getting the bike out of the garage! Congrats on your hard decision, now go out and enjoy!
  19. That just kind of typifies the type of people we get around here. It just comes natural to us. Must be something in the kool-aid! That and I REALLY was hoping this thread didn't have any Jim Jones references in it!
  20. yep, the same. Whats wrong with yours?
  21. If you need a home for any of those Shepards, I got an empty fenced back yard that needs filling! I had to lay my 15 year old 125 lb boy down a couple of years ago and I'm starting to get lonely!
  22. That's just needed for the Hardley riders! Don't tell me that Fish wants to come too?!!
  23. What, you don't want to ride that far with me?????
  24. But you get to use your wrench for more than one use!!!!! I shoulda thunk of that myself!
  25. Then I guess I can expect to see you Sunday morning in Chillicothe then?!
