  1. I also use the 5 way flat, there is a flat plug holder which is magnetic and I stick that on the side of my hitch.
  2. So then explain to me on the MKI's regulator/rectifier why the brown lead from there goes directly to the fuse block to feed the lights, ignition system and accesories without going thru the battery first. If you need to look at the diagram, it's available as a PDF file under the first gen tech section. Also, if what you are saying is true, then why do they offer different amperage alternators for cars? Why do they not just upsize the capacity of the battery? The batterys job is to start the vehicle, act as a "shock absorber" to the system. You described this yourself when you told us about your load tests. If the battery carries everything, why do they have APUs on the aircraft then? Also stated in your recourse is that you "deep cycle" your batteries. Your systems on the aircraft in no way pertain to the systems on these bikes.
  3. Need a pic and trace the wires out and let us know where they hook up to.......
  4. Gotta agree with the Goose on this one, being an electrician for over 30 years teaches you a couple of things. Just like two football players across the line from each other, the one with the stronger force will always carry the load.
  5. Nice to see that if you just take a minute and analyze the situation, you can usually come up with the solution!
  6. Starting that already, eh Dan? :hihi: :sleigh:
  7. I have 2 motors in my garage (4bbl and a turbo) and a 65 2 door in the driveway. One of these days I plan on playing with them.
  8. Corvairs are a lot nicer looking, alternator is on the left side, carbs go in the heads in a different location and we don't need stacks! We just slap on a 4bbl or a turbo and go to town! PS..... that ones lacking a couple of cylinders........
  9. Hold down on the shifter as you're blipping the throttle, harder pressure at 1/3rd higher throttle and it should glide right in. Might take you some practice tho Carl, you know, that age thing.........
  10. Did that work on your noggin' too Jack?
  11. I'm thunkin' he was too drink to read aniting las' nite!
  12. Wow, good thing you don't live around me! Just did 575 miles last Sunday, 200 on Saturday as a tune-up!
  13. Has the synch been pre-set yet? If it's way off, it won't want to run at all. Pull the air box, and starting with #2 carb (LF) make sure the butterflies are closed all the way. #2 is controlled by the idle screw. The #1 (LR) is controlled by the synch screw between the carbs. Then go to the right side and set #3 to #4 with the rear screw between the carbs. When that is done, set those two to #2 with the front screw. Then you'll have to set the synch after it's running. Have you checked and replaced the plugs since you got it started? Let us know
  14. If he worked on the clutch or pulled the slave cylinder, then the rods could be stuck or as posted before the cover's not on right. I would also make sure the knuckles on the shifter arm and the relay arm behind the stator cover are pointed in the correct directions. If not, they could be keeping him from shifting.
  15. Ya didn't crack the floor, did ya??!!!!
  16. Rotor go back in OK Frank? Guess you got that puppy fired back up by now, huh. Let me know how that new starter clutch works for ya. Dano

    First Royale

Yup, got an 87 Standard 2 tone blue in the stable right now!
  18. You need to synch the carbs too
  19. You sure it's an 82? Didn't come out till 83!
  20. Memorial Day weekend is graduation for my son, personally the 4th would be a better choice. I'd hate to miss another MD! Dano
  21. These bikes take a "slim" 18mm socket to get down in the well, I found that the Kobalt (Lowes) socket works perfectly for this situation.
  22. Look at the branding on the tire and see where it is manufactured in. Would be either Brasil or Germany.
  23. New sliders are available thru www.partshark.com for around 60 bucks, I think I'd spend the $$$$!
  24. Made it back a little after 8, if you watched the game you know I'm happy!!!! Thanks for meeting us and the lunch! 575 miles altogether, 14.8 gallons (+/-, started with a half tank that took me 70+ miles down to Exit 1 just inside Ohio) equals 38.8 mpg average. Not bad for hauling a 350 lb trailer 284 miles (sometimes at 70-75 mph) and VERY much WOT on the way back! I gotta tell you, those Cincinnati drivers don't pay attention to the speed limit very well! Did around 80 just to keep up with traffic!
  25. Hmm, "little ride",,,, Did 200 miles around town yesterday, which I did for you, Gary. Did 575 miles today going over to WV and back.
