  1. Hey Jack, my 84's a maroon standard, albeit with the factory scroll pinstriping that I haven't seen on many others.
  2. You're certainly right, Mr. Redneck, even with a breakdown, a 1st gen is STILL faster than the slower 2nd gen!!! Thanks for bringing that to everyones attention!
  3. Like when we tell you a 2nd gen will always end up second to a first gen, right?
  4. Definitely not a Royale, not only the badging but the schraeder valve beside the ignition switch gives it away......... May have been repainted at one time too. I would suggest just pulling the muffler off of the right side till you replace the collector and go riding, mighty fine sound! Once again, good deal, you have years of enjoyment ahead of you!
  5. I run my carbs dry on my two strokes because of the oil/gas mix, but not my 4 strokes. I tend to take them out a couple of times over winter just to make sure they still run good! My 2 stroke IT400 has sat there for a year and a half, turned on the fuel, gave it a few kicks and she fired right up! I believe it was because of the Benol oil mix I used in there. The Venture gets a dose of Seafoam and a battery tender, thats about it......
  6. Never too old for a good sounding exhaust........
  7. Just put the collector back on the bike last night from the repair, just had to fire it up without the mufflers....... it was 11:30 PM, inside the garage.......thought I had my sons small block Camaro in there with headers only! Skip 12 hours till today, was getting ready to re-hang the mufflers when I decided to run up and get gas first. WHAT AN EYE-OPENER! First , the local neighborhood Harley guys are now EXTREMELY jealous! You know, the ones who run straight pipes and think their stuff sounds good. Let me tell you, they don't hold a candle to a Yammy V4 with the open collector! As far as performance, lets just say that my clutches are tight, but not with this puppy opened up! Any amount of hard throttle would bust them right loose, kinda glad 'cause I didn't want the front end off the ground with the wind we have blowing right now. She sounds really good anywhere from 4-6 grand, you really don't notice you're running those higher RPM's it sounds soooooo good! Might just have to build a set of straight pipes like CTraylor did and let the wife get used to it......... Really don't want to put them back on..........
  8. Yep, 2 55 watt driving lights make one well seen to oncoming traffic, along with the turn signal driving lamps and the brighter leds in the rotor covers. The more light, the better!
  9. Heck, you got your $700 just out of the extra parts he hauled out. Great buy, great deal, so, where are the ?
  10. Menards also carries it around $6.50 a can, got a few put up around here........
  11. Ah yes, the ability to switch between your mistresses at your leisure!
  12. No, actually the tongue does a much better job of transferring the electricity because of the salt content and being wet.........
  13. I'm just over here in Indy, so it's not that far........
  14. Yeah, well, you know if you need a new home for that radiator grill, the engine guard footrests, the side panels,,,,,,,,,,,, Oh yeah, the chrome brow up under the nose would be nice too!!!!! I'm just sayin'.........
  15. Done. I guess her time with you didn't hurt her too awful bad, huh??!!
  16. Dang, wife needs 74s & 75s!!!!!
  17. She needs some work, but has all the right pieces. Might want to send Muffinman a PM and let him know about it, he's closer. If'n I was in the area, I'd pick it up!
  18. Our new couch is too short for me to spend more than a night or two on it, so's I guess I won't be down anytime soon!
  19. Oldgoat, for awhile whilst you were going thru rehabbin' with your doting girl-who-moved-away, I thought you must be much older than me. I too was born in '57, but I figure I'm only 53, my grandpa lived up into his high 80's, my moms still driving (just turned 80) and I have a young buck of a son who just turned 18, that's enough to keep me from thinking that since I turned 50 I gotta slow down. Matter of fact, they WON"T let me slow down! Soooo, if you will be needing some help to get that bike on the road to get some of your "bucket list" items checked off, you just let me know if'n I can help in any way. You can't help what happened to your buddies, just remember them in the best way possible. And that may possibly be by getting out there next year and riding that bike like you used to. The wife and I (and possibly a few others) would be honored if you rode with us out to Cody next year for the International. Heck, for that matter, might as well hook up with us and go up to Dons for Maintenance Day! I do feel badly for your loss, and my prayers will go out to your brethren-in-arms and your sisters best friend. But as for you, my friend, lets go out and grab life by the b*lls and enjoy doing it! 20. I started my son riding when he was 7, on a little KX60. Moved up to a YZ85 at 12, now he rides my 77 IT400. I believe it's the best way to get your kids started in responsible driving techniques, as he now drives a 79 Camaro.
  21. This was in August and they had warnings out for them. I don't think at the time I wanted to mess with them, they were bad enough up in Ocala.........
  22. I was in Ocala back in 95 and watched one go up at 10 in the evening, didn't want to go down there because of the drive time and having to be at work early the next morning. Oh yeah, the 'skeeters carrying the enchephalitis bug were pretty nasty at the time too!! It was still a site to behold even from that far away!
  23. Tom, Tom, Tom. WHY did you have to go there already?????? It ain't THAT cold out there yet! Why don't you just put on an extra jacket and go take a spin around the block? And,,,,, WHY is there only 6 of us who remember what's going on?? I at least thought Mini would grasp what is happening here............
  24. And I was gonna suggest a 20 lb sledge............
