  1. Start with replacing the plug wires and caps ( http://www.buckeyeperformance.com has the whole package for a decent price, including correct wires and caps), these bikes WILL pull the front wheel when they're running right, I've done it several times with my 84......... Go to Lowes and see if they have the thin-walled 18mm socket to pull the plugs (NOT 11/16ths!) along with a u-joint and 6" extension. Do a compression check on all cylinders, check for vacuum leaks around the carbs and boots. You will also need to synchronize your carbs, all these instructions available right here. Good luck and come back with the info.....
  2. :sign yeah that::sign yeah that:
  3. Thanks guys, unfortunately it was a regular day, 1st day back to work even had a meeting tonite. As it was also Rose and mine 25th anniversary, we kinda celebrated it last week in Cody. On our 10th we went to Hawaii and rode on Maui so we thought this was fitting enough. We were amongst friends and some great riding. Who could ask for anything more?
  4. Thanks for the offer Mark, we didn't know it was out till we left the bar/ restaurant in Bayard, dark by then, the only town around that had a motel(?!), we were going to make Ogallala but thats all right.........
  5. Finally got home around 10 last night, hit the humidity somewhere in Nebraska........ Dimmer switch went out somewhere between Casper and Scottsbluff Neb, spent the night and a side-of the-road wire-around for the headlight in Bayard, Neb Friday night (Thanks Squid!). If I wouldn't have wired up your trailer light harness, I wouldn't have had the wire to do that Jack! I guess things happen for a reason! Great time, as Jack says, back later for reflections and pics!
  6. I've got some at home LA, when we get there tomorrow night I'll find them and get your address and send them to you. For those of you not at Cody, Wild Hair is now driving a sweet little Toyota MR2 Spyder with a "VENTURE" logo off of a Chevy across the front. He's looking for a Royale badging setup to put on the rest of the car to make a 4 wheel Venture!
  7. We missed you out here Don, your absence was definitely noticed. But as you say, family takes first priority around here. Hope things are better and it gets turned around soon. Everyone in Cody sends you a big hug and hello. Dano
  8. If you broke down in Cody, at least you would've been amongst friends........
  9. If you made the connections behind the license plate, take the plate off and duplicate the bouncing around, etc. that makes the circuit blow. I chose to make the hook-up under the drivers seat as there was not very much room in that housing behind the plate plus the ability of water, etc. to get in there very easily. Like posted before, go over every inch of the new and the original wiring anywhere it can touch metal. BTW, the exposed pin on the connector should be a ground connection so that it will not short out if it touches anything. Dano
  10. He's also got one to sell now....... But at least his trailer lights will be hooked up when he heads home instead of running without them :rotf:
  11. Gntttin' older but not slower, didn't want to depend on Red to get me out here and back. Couldn't pass up the deal, 5500 miles on the bike for 9 grand. Safety chrome has already been installed, more to go. I will post pics once we get home, but it is the first bike in Utaventures first pic in his photobucket album. New notebook doesn't have pic resizer on it yet so's I can post some pics. Gonna go hit Yellowstone today...... BTW, isn't Jeff the one who went and got a GW first????:rotf:
  12. I would've thought that Mini or some of you other guys would have picked up on my earlier post here, you might want to take a closer look at my bikes listed...... That's all I'm sayin'.........
  13. When I get back home from the rally in Cody I'll look in the garage, I believe I've got an original from an 87 that'll work for you. I'll post baack on this thread when I find it. Dano
  14. Gee, I wonder who owns that beautiful 08 gray sitting at the head of the line in the first pic????? Nice pics, great day for a ride and the chili was great!
  15. We're in Spearfish SD right now, up and out by 8, 350 miles to go, see you early evening!
  16. Nice to see you on here Lowell, look forward to seeing you next week! Dano
  17. 3 days, 1500 miles (or close to that!) good tuneup run for Brown Sugar! Maybe more than 500 a day, depends on the wife and how she's hanging in there........
  18. That MIGHT just get your garage done Dan! Head out Thursday the 21st, come over here and stay with us that night and we'll head out together on Friday! (50 across Ohio then up 74, only 5 hours from Parkersburg!)
  19. Congrats guys, when's Jeff gonna put the car seat on the wing?
  20. We'll be there anyway....... Gotta have somebody other than just Larry and Joyce show up......
  21. That's alright Bill, I was still up on the north side when you came through. But a young friend of mine saw you as you were loading up the bike. He came in on a black GSXR right after noon. We'll see you down the road. Dan
  22. If your Lowes still carries Kobalt tools, they have a thin-walled 18mm deep socket that works perfectly in the 1st gen heads.
  23. Bill, give me a call when you hit town, which one are you going to, Martinsville or East side Indy? East side is only a few miles from the house, would love to see ya and say hi. Congrats on the new ride. Dan 317-370-0139
  24. That right there is funny, don't care where you read it!
  25. Check to see where he is pulling his ground from. He may have inadvertently tied into one of the two ground returns from the kickstand switch.
