  1. It is a VMax, back one generation. Couldn't get that good a look at it.
  2. Sometimes you don't WANT to look back to see where you've been.........
  3. Prayers and thoughts from Rose and I to you and Eileen. She has gone thru a tough couple of years and is the strongest trooper I've ever seen. Treat her good next year and yourself by taking a good long "bikation".
  4. I would've liked to see him get on the bike in the first place!
  5. And now you're hawking sails.......
  6. Ground runs thru the sidestand switch to cut out the TCI and the sidestand indicator on the dash. Two different switch legs off the switch, but 1 ground lead feeding the switch. Hmmm, you're obviously holding the handle bars while doing this and adding a LOT of torque to them while holding the bike up. I think I would check the connector for the ignition switch as accessory power runs thru here. Start checking all the connectors around there. You can also pull the headlight bucket and check connectors thru there too.
  7. Wife heard that on our way out to Cody, but knowing what it was after reading about it on here, I knew it wasn't an issue till I could get back home. If, however, I'd a known what to do when I had the tire off for the new tire, I should have done it then. Question posed here is: I'm taking it in next week to get the headlight dimmer switch replaced under warranty, should I take the print-out in and have them do this for me? Possibly even re-align it if it needs it?

    Dream

I finally quit dreaming 4 years ago, bought my 1st bike in 30+ years. NO LONGER DREAMING, I'M LIVING THE DREAM! At least while I still can!
  9. Regular price without my discount at http://www.partshark.com is $190 for the whole cylinder sub-assembly minus the handle and mounting parts. Might be the best way to go as you don't know the condition of any used ones you might pick up. JMHO Dano
  10. Dang Randy, I understand the reluctance to pull on that right wrist with the wife on there, but if I were in the same situation, I'd just blast it and get the heck away from them. After all, you are on the Purple Dragon Slayer!
  11. When on the sidestand with the engine running in neutral, pull in the clutch and shift into first. If it dies, so far so good. Next try the same thing with taking weight off the sidestand. If the engine doesn't die, the sidestand switch is misaligned and probably dirty. Is there a lot of slop in the sidestand? Check your main ground down at the right front of the engine case, take it off and clean it well. Do the same to the radio ground. Are you losing the readouts on the radio also? Or just the speakers? Check the above and let us know what you find. Good luck, Dano
  12. Damn Jack, you and wiring again......... I'm just sayin'......
  13. Kinda need to know what bike you have, but I would start checking ground points first. On the first gen the connectors are under the seat over the rear fender and the second gens are behind the license plate (?!). Start there and see what you find.
  14. I see "Bozo" made the trip........ Jeez all you Victory lovers, it's only a joke........
  15. Dang, I was going to offer to ride down and get it for you.........
  16. I was hoping that Goose would have told you to use a VERY well insulated pair of pliers to hold that spark wire! At least up to 15,000 volts! But now you know.........
  17. Same here Cindi, gotta work or I'd be there for you. Jethroish lives in the area, not sure if he's on here much nowadays tho. Good luck for ya and I guess Dale will just have to work a little harder! Look forward to seeing you guys sometime soon in the near future, you're only a couple of hours away now! :bighug:
  18. Yeah, but it'll be on the new non-maintenance hungry ride!
  19. These are two of the most gracious (well, Jeff anyway!) you'll meet on this site, he's the only person I know of that carries Stators on his bike to maintenance days! More than happy to help anyone in need, as are most folks here, is one of the reasons I love being involved in this group! Just remember to pay it forward with the knowledge you have learned.
  20. It saddens me to hear of this, met and talked with Dave on more than a few occasions. This is two tragedies to happen yesterday, the day I gave away my daughter in marriage, as there was a stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair just before the Sugarland concert last night. Our prayers go out to David and Kathy as that is the most we can do for now.
  21. That is second gear with the slots, if you get new gears make sure you replace the correlating gear on the other shaft as they should be matched. Sounds like the dogs got hung up going into 5th, as the second gear is "locked" to the shaft and 5th gear slides back and forth. Before you put them back on the shaft, you could "Undercut" the dogs and the slots to create a much better "grip" in second gear. Yamaha never did put enough travel to engage the dogs with the slots on these bikes. It only takes a couple of thousandths of the 5th gear not fully engaging to make the dogs slip (the infamous 2nd gear in the first gens). There are a couple of threads under the 1st gen tech library that can help you out, same tranny in both bikes!
  22. I ordered the Brake/running LED light (same as yours), the backrest and the passenger highway pegs. The automatic shipping figure on the invoice is usually wrong, as it had mine for $99. Patty CALLED me from the post office that next morning to tell me she would be knocking $30+ off the postage for actual costs incurred. They are some stand-up people that really care about their customers and put them first. They are also VR members and try to come to our rallys when they can.
  23. Glad to hear you're OK Brad, I've read the FB posts, also glad Rhonda didn't have a heart attack! You guys ride home safe.
  24. And I want to thank that broke down Hardley rider who kept the officer entertained as Rose and I were making our run back to Cody for dinner!!
  25. Just ask Wrongway how often you should clean them! He obviously thought you never had to, because they were pretty gunked up when he pulled them off at Cody!
