  1. Well, the checks I been waiting on finally cleared the bank. SPent 400 dollars with Flatout today, Chris called me at noon and told me that all parts are available in the warehouses, only one part needs to come from Japan. (I'll tell you about that later. Something to do with not wanting to take 10 minutes and make the clutch holding tool!!!). All parts should be in by the end of the week. Saved 25 bucks by having him hold the parts for pick-up since I only live 10 miles from there. These parts are just the internals, like all o-rings, gaskets, clutch springs, 2nd gear repair (gonna undercut my gears), water pump rebuild,etc.. Will post complete list if anybody wants to see it. Next week I'll order my exterior stuff, going to replace all the hoses, water route orings, thermostat, etc. Doing this once, and then be done with it! Flatouts website makes it easy to order, can print out the microfiche listings, that way you have a record of what you've got when it comes time to figure out what all those bags have in them!!! Oh well ,back to the grind! Dan
  2. I guess if I loaded up my torn down bike in the truck, went to a Ferris Wheel, unloaded it, took a pic, loaded it back up and went back home, I could qualify!!!!!!!!!!!:rotf::080402gudl_prv:
  3. Pics 1-8, beautiful, beautiful, etc. Great scenery, thanks for taking the pics and posting them!!!!! Any sightings of freshly planted American Beauty roses???? Dan
  4. I believe, unfortunately that it needs to come off. The TCI mounts under the coil rack and the bolts for the rack screw from outside in. But I'm sure that others may have an easier way of doing it. If the connections were dirty, chances are you've found your problem. Good luck, Dan
  5. They are jealous!!!!! We know what our problems are, and know how to fix them (and we have Muffinman, our hero!!!); they are just coming into theirs. And they thought they wouldn't have to wrench on 'em!!!:whistling:
  6. Give me till the weekend, gotta wait on a couple checks to clear...... and I'll take one PC680, I can wait for it. Thanks, Dan
  7. Dear Sir, I came about my 84 standard a year and a half ago. I never knew anything about these bikes before I bought it. In that time frame, I have discovered that it's technology is NOT dead, it is what all V4's of Yamaha lineage are derived from. I can go from taking a leasurely cruise with my Navigator on board, to loading my tools on her to make some money, to taking on just about any cruiser/touring and even (I dare to say) take on about half of the crotch rockets out there. These bikes are extremely durable (125 miles from home with a blown stator, overheating and 90d outside, and made it home still running), the only bike I know that will easily go 200k+ without any major rebuilding. Very easy to work on, easy on gas, will put you in the twisties with any cruiser out there. As far as parts, I'm going thru all of my maintenance items from the ground up, and everything I need is still available from the factory! When it is all said and done, I will have a grand total of 2500 dollars in her, will not be ashamed of her anywhere, and dare I say, her styling will come back in some shape or form. So, I can only deduce from your question that you are not aware of the attributes of this bike or her lineage. Oh, for reference, has any other factory designed touring bike ran a 12.05 @ 105 mph in the timed quarter mile? Thanks for your time, A gratefull MK1 owner, Dan
  8. I like that!!!
  9. I know, pegscraper, you just want a tunnel ram with dual quads and maybe a supercharger to help it out!!!!!! LOL Dan
  10. Yeah, but wouldn't it look cool with those finned heads sticking out of the bodywork? Don Yenko had his Stage 5 Corvair up to 285 hp back in 67, I'm sure with electronic ignition and the advances in metals we could spin that up to about 500hp!!!! Think of the possibilities!!!! Dan PS--- you think we use those clutches in our 1st gens to hold all that power??
  11. HOLD ME BACK, HOLD ME BACK!!! i CAN'T STAND IT!!! GIVE ME WRENCHES!!!!!--------Whew!, didn't think I could get past that---- I'll leave the starter clutch alone for NOW!!!! Thanks Squeeze, I almost couldn't help myself...... BTW, Robin Miller just said on "Wind Tunnel" that your favorite buddy Tony George is still working on gettin F1 back here at the Speedway. "As the flagged wheel turns"---- it ain't over yet! Dan
  12. because of blocking Heidfeld and Alonso in their fast Lap. Thats what I was referring to on Michael at Monte Carlo when he parked it in the corner during qualifying. Hmmmmm, 350,000 or my bike? I could always build up my turbo Corvair motor and put it in there!!!!!! Dan
  13. DOn't tell me I need to tie into this, too!!!!! I don't need anything else to work on this bike, I got enuff already!!!! Dan
  14. WOnder what shipping cost is to the US??????? Squeeze, that 210.050,000. Whats that in dollars? Probably more than the 100 bucks I could afford for it, huh? By the way, only got to see highlights from Malaysia, looks like another weird weekend (Michael in Monte Carlo 2 or 3 years ago in qualifying?). Going to be interesting!!! Dan
  15. Stayed up till 2 workin on the scoot, was gonna sleep in till 10------- phone rings at 8:30--- neice having electrical problems at home---- gotta go make the doughnuts!!!!! Guess that means I'll take a nap this afternoon---- OH NO--Inlaws at 1PM. There goes an easy day!!!! Happy Easter!!!!! Dan
  16. Can you measure the gap? What would the proper gap size be? Or wait till I get the new washer and check? Inquiring minds wanna know!!!
  17. Congratulations Spear, thankfully my daughter's not even looking yet (20, 2nd year in college). I'm only 50, so I got time to play till I get to spoil grandkids!!! Have fun and great photos. Dan
  18. You and me, hipshot, you and me. It only happens to the good guy!!! I have never been in this area of my bike yet, so can't help. Just here to offer support and let you now that it don't only happen to you!!! Dan

    2ND Gen Brakes

Did he say Brakes or meant to say "BREAKS"!!!!!:rotf: Just skiddin' Dan
  21. Glad you're finally following my lead, Jeff!!!!!! LOL You put alot more miles on Blondie than I got to put on the future "Red Rocket", but I decided that I would rather take the time now to go thru her than to put up with a 2nd genners ribbing if I should happen to break down sometime. I know that won't happen, because she already brought me back 125 miles while she was crippled with no stator, overheating and a battery running down. I doubt if one of those boys with the "newer" bikes could lay claim to that! Good luck, I know you won't have to ask questions like the rest of us!!!!!! BTW, paint her pink!!!!!!!! Dan
  22. Nice lookin' Scoot! Dan
  23. Thanks Squeeze, I really appreciate the vote of confidence, I think I know what my limits of ability are, but I don't mind "pushing the envelope" as long as I know what I'm doing. If I screw it up bad enough, I can always order a new set!!!!!!! Dan
  24. Thanks, Squeeze. Fork will be ordered and I'm trying to work up the courage to do the grind myself. Can't believe that thrust washer was worn down like that. Oh well, everything will be fine when I get it done. Dan
  25. All these 2nd genners on here talkin' about their bikes. HMMMM, couldn't hear 'em, cause even with my bike torn down for maintenance, IT'S STILL FASTER THAN THEIRS WILL EVER HOPE TO BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:bikersmilie: dAN
